1. SOLD subject to payment. Neck is a Fender-licensed Mighty Mite P neck, maple fretboard. 41mm nut. Proper Fender decal obviously. Plays beautifully. In great condition. A different class to any MIM neck I have played. Body is of unknown vintage and origin. It is solid wood though, believed probably/possibly Alder. Medium weight for P, This body gives a deep full tone. In black, this body has been gently, naturally relic'ed and has numerous scratches, rubs and scrapes. As a whole it still manages to look rather classy though. Tuners - Schaller Pickup - Delano PMVC 4 FE/M2. This pickup gives a monstrous tone. Not mid-scooped. Simply "big" everywhere. I like this pickup a lot. Bridge - a solid medium mass bridge. Much more sturdy than vintage style but keeps a reasonable "vintage" look. Wiring loom is a 250K Kiogon loom with non-solder pickup change connections. Knobs are dulled chrome. Neck plate is Fender. This P bass gives a very full bodied tone, and plays a treat. Looks classic and classy. Comes with an excellent condition, 20mm foam, Stagg gigbag. £245 posted to your door in mainland UK. It's a difficult bass to price, but whoever buys this will be getting a great bass which has way better hardware than any MIM, with a gorgeous neck, and all for the price of a Squier. For sale as I am using my PJ bass almost exclusively now, as I value the versatility for what I want, and I need cash to buy pedals ! Pics ....... 2. Sold Ian a pickup. Easy transaction. Top bloke to deal with.
3.
Does it come with the copper earth plate?
Nope. I bought these used, but I don't think the copper plate comes with the pickup as standard. Anyway, installed in a P, these were dead silent (in the right way, obviously !)
4. Sorry, WITHDRAWN for the moment. As per title. Excellent condition Fender Original Precision pickup, as fitted in the current USA std. P's. Vintage Precision tone just doesn't come any better than these. For sale as I have been trying out a few P pickups and have found that the rather more modern tone of the Delano big pole P pickup is more "me". 50 quid posted to your door in mainland UK. 5. Which has the better pickups ? Does one of them have a better quality wood body ? These things will make far more difference than the shape of the body. Links to the exact models would be useful. If you are talking about this Jag .... http://www.gear4musi...ecial-Black/G7Y then it's OK, but nothing more. I have owned and gigged one in the past. Felt and played nicely, but the tone was inherently nothing special at all, dull and thuddy. the only comparable Squier PJ precision I am aware of is the Affinity PJ, which I have not played. However, all it's components and body wood will be as cheap as chips. If you were going to buy on of them new, I'd far rather look around for a used MiM Fender or Yam BB or something like that for a similar price, which will sound noticably better.
6.
In addition to making up for the the height difference, the vertical-array-effect in the 69er should provide a much more evenly distributed sound for the benefit of the audience and sound-guy
I think the whole point of bass monitoring on stage, when your main sound is going through FoH anyway, is to NOT distribute your stage sound to the audience or sound guy. The more mixing of your stage sound there is with the FoH sound, the less control the soundman will have, and the more unpredictable the sonic interactions between the two will be. Personally, I think 99.5% of the audience will not give a sh1t what your rig looks like. I have also lived with a heavy 8x10 for a short time. And it was only a short time because the weight was a complete pain in the @rse. If you are happy with your S12 sonically, I'd stick with it. If you want the 69'er for it's tone I'd go for that. An Ampeg 810 for pose value ? .... meh, IMO waste of time.
7. That's looks v. cool !
8. What you need, sir, is the Wounded Paw Black Sheep pedal I currently have for sale ! Exactly what you need.
9.
Aren't these the ones you swapped out your 70's DiMarzios for? Not getting on with them? I find them quite dark. Not much top end but great for an old school P bass tone
Yes, I had the pickup in another bass, and then rotated it into my "Bitsa P" to replace the old Dimarzio. As you say, the Model P is relatively dark. High output, lot's of bottom end, and lots of mids, not so much on the top end. Still a great pickup. My Bitsa P is quite a dark bass in it's own right though, so it's not a great marriage with the Model P. I've just put a Fender orginal 60's pickup in it, which is much lighter on the bottom end and a better fit with the bass.
10. SOLD Excellent condition Dimarzio Model P (DP122) pickup in black. £45 posted to your door in mainland UK.
11. Paul bought my G&L SB2 tribute bass. Easy guy to deal with. Great communication. thoroughly top chap.
12. See-through perspex, Jaguar shaped, body. Sea foam green Musicman pickguard. Graphite neck. Active 3-band electronics with sweepable mids. Sorted !
13. Firstly, G&L's are significantly cheaper in the US, for whatever reasons, tax, importing etc, etc. It looks like a new USA SB2 costs $1160 on Musician's Friend in the States. I can't find any new USA SB2's new for $800. Anyway, for a new USA SB2 here, just under a grand seems about right. It's just that most everything cheaper over there.
14. It's an old thread but, anyway ....... I just picked up one of these yesterday. I was in Absolute Music in Poole and was playing a few basses. THis one blew me away for tone and versatility. Also decent playability. This is all for £220. No doubt I will do some twekaing and modding on it, but I am already impressed at the basic bass. In fact, I think the pickups are particularly impressive for this price range bass. I've got some very nice P basss pickups coming in though, so will probably try them out in it. Compared to the RBX170, it seems that you get an Alder body and upgraded pickups.
15. Not sure about your particular amp, but many amps which have serial effects loops have a switching jack arrangement that bypasses the FX loop in/out sockets when a jack plug is not plugged into them. This can cause the syptoms you describe if certain contacts there gets a bit of oxidation (corrosion) on them. The amp can then act as though you have stuff connected in your FX loop when, in fact, you have not. This causes typical cuting in and out symptoms. The cure is usually to put a jack in and out a few times in the FX loop jacks, which just cleans the contacts again making the whole system work properly. You seem to have unwittingly done this anyway, thus curing your problem. If I were you I would put a jack in/out a few more times in your FX loop in and out sockets, to try and clean those contacts again. Then see if your symptoms return. You may well have sorted it out. It's actually quite a common problem. Oh, for cabs, I'd try and stretch to a GK neo 2x12 if you can, as it will handle rather more than the 1x15 without farting out, and also be louder. Have a good look around the used market for cabs though. You get a lot for your money and used cabs are much less likely to have issues than used amps IME.
16. I'm sure you will get your asking price with a bit of patience. It might be worth putting it up on Gumtree also. I've had a fair bit of luck selling on there recently. The market is just so depressed at the moment. It's a good price for what is a very nice mid-range Jazz. Ten times better than a Squier, but for the same money !
17. My imprsssion of the market is that a nice one of these would go for about £500. Maybe a fraction less.
I have my eye on a fiver, I will withdraw this bass if the fiver is sold in the meantime.
I'll bet it's Rasta's Lakky 55-01 with Nordy's in. If I wanted a fiver I'd be all over that one ! Good luck with the sale BTW.
20. Great stuff. Thanks for that Rob. Do the rotary knobs simply pull off ? Or are there any hints for that part of it ? My RH450 is new so has no issues as yet, but this could all be great info for me in the future.
21. price lowered. Didn't realise how well the pound was doing against the dollar at the mo. Also don't forget the import taxes if you bought one new. Customs seem a lot more alert to that these days. I seem to get hit pretty much every time I buy from the US these days.
22. SOLD For sale my Wounded Paw Black Sheep overdrive pedal. Need to sell to try and recoup some cash to pay for a new P bass purchase. I can approximate the tone from this with my B3K, so I'm going to try and do without it. Anyway, it's a top quality boutique OD. Has separate OD frequency channel controls, so you can control bass, mids and treble frequency overdrive all independently from one another. Also has a clean mix control. Lastly, it has an FX loop for the clean portion of the signal, for a compressor or whatever. In superb condition, with original box etc, etc. Currently has hook velcro on the bottom. £105 posted to your door in mainland UK. Will post abroad, but contact me for costs. Sorry no trades this time Here's a couple of demo soundclips I did with it a short while ago.
23. Also check that the spring for the E string on the intonation adjustment on the bridge is not just a bit loose and vibratory on that low E. I'm really surprised, though, that you have not found the problem to be either the nut or the tuner, as I'd put money on it being in that area. Have you tried pressing down and to the side on the E string behind the nut when you play the note. Initially my gut reaction was that it was probably a loose nut slot.
