Hi - sorry don't know how to do the quote thing 😳 But yes the 50% mix is key and seems somehow better than a blend on the pedals themselves. Yes, the amp has transformers, it's not class D. Also, I like the sound I get from the pre. I can get a good tone without effects, just need to drop a few bits in every know and then for certain songs. I'm an effects off most of the time guy, but I like them and use them to have a bit of fun and variation

Cheers - that'd be good - don't want to damage the amp!

Hi all Now - I know that the received wisdom is that dirt and fuzz should go between bass and amp, and if you use your amps effects loop then it's usually for modulation type stuff. But, try as I might - I just think that my dirt pedals sound much better in the loop of my EBS HD350. I have the loop set to parallel so it maintains a 50% clean mix at all times and it just sounds more of a complete sound to me. Just has bit more quality to it than when the drives are in front. I'm running a Tech 21 VT and a Cog Tarkin in there at the moment (along with a TC Corona, a Boss EQ, a Mooer Tender Octaver, a Digitech BSW and a basic switch to bypass the lot.) The difference between signal strength doesn't seem to have any impact on any of my pedals - and they are all silent and powered from one Onespot and a daisy chain. Obviously, all good and I buy the 'if it sounds good to you, then it is good' approach - but I just wonder if I'm listening wrong as I seem to have a lot of bad practice in there! Am I the only one!? Cheers! Jason

Stop Nuisance Neighbours Closing Venues Petition
redbandit599 replied to ezbass's topic in General Discussion
Signed and shared - get this everywhere. One venue out my way has been going for over 20 years and is getting hassle not from a new neighbour, but a developer who has done up a nearby house and thinks he can up the price without a music pub nearby.. arsehole... -

I'm loving my Yamaha BB1025x and 1024x - p bass on tap but the J pick up really adds the goods.

Congratulations! Never be intimidated by any bedroom internet hero - you're a real live bass player now 😀

Squier Bass VI ?

I've got a Mooer Tender Octaver on it's way from China - seems to be a clone of the Micro Pog and gets better reviews that the Pure Octave. Don't know if it's internet myth but some suggestion that the Tender Octave had been pulled from sale in the West due to infringement of EHX? I bought mine through Amazon. Couldn't find much more about it so took a punt.

Yeah - I'm thinking that the DI into the PA route may be the alternative fail safe - we've got a good PA (RCF 15's) but don't run/need any subs so I tend to stay out of it. Just not sure about bass frequencies coming out of a head/chest height pa. I've already got a VT Bass on my board - not the DI version - is there any reason why I couldn't use this straight into PA?

Cheers - the 2ohm bit is a bit of stretch I know - it would be for the rare occasion that I run both my EBS cabs, but in all honesty one is plenty, so 4ohm would suffice.

Hi all Thinking that it may finally be time to free up some space and move on my venerable Ampeg SVT140TC 410 combo that I have kept as 'back up' (how can you get emotionally attached to a black box?) Anyhow - what have you guys got for back up out there? Cheap, light, gig able with a bit of drive and effects loop - ideally able to get down to 2 ohms . Cheers J

Had a bash at a rehearsal with the new BB - it's BBloody BBrilliant! Three distinct and usable tones at the flick of the pick up selector switch, nice neck - not quite as comfy as my Sandberg but that would be asking quite a lot. Rock machine!

EHX LPB1 is a simple and a cheap booster, I use one for a real volume jump on a couple of bits ( e.g a big single note fuzzy flanged synthy one note intro that I want to fill the room) but use a Boss EQ with a bit of lift in the high mids when I just need to stand out a bit. Could probably make do with the eq and just reset the level of it.

How far do you travel for a pub covers gig?
redbandit599 replied to spike's topic in General Discussion
Seems to be about an hour - but living by the coast means you need to a little flexible as there's not much action East of here... ;-) -
Hi all - I weighed last night on the kitchen digital scales - 10lb 3oz, so not super light but not bad. About the same as my Sandberg California 5 string. Very nicely balanced. J

I agree. Just plugged it in - very happy 😃

Hi all Have literally just un-boxed my shiny new Yamaha BB1025x - looks lush and a quick plunk makes me think it'll sound it too. But just thought I should share the 'opportunity' with the Basschat massive as I picked it up from Bax for £530 - going rate seems to be about £770 everywhere else. Nice gig bag and a little maintenance kit 'gift.' I had mine on order for a while but they've come into stock now. Colour options at this price are as per Henry Ford ;-) https://www.bax-shop...ss-guitar-black and no, I don't work for Bax. Any good for metal? (Sorry - someone had to...)

I wrote a book about being in a covers band

Ordered! I'll share the link on a FB forum that I'm on too - the Essex Coverbands Community - so should be a target audience ;-) -
Hobbyist - happy gigging a few times a month. Would like bigger gigs but probably couldn't commit the time to gig sufficiently to get widely known enough to be offered them. Currently content with getting the pub rocking.

First gig at a small pub with a horrible load in and no parking - but loopy, friendly locals who were really up for it from the off and rocked hard right to the end. Knew we were onto a winner when an old boy at the bar stood up and exclaimed 'Ozzy Osbourne!!' in pure delight as we kicked off one number. I also discovered that wireless kits can be a mixed blessing, as when out and dancing with the crowd I was distracted from my playing by a large pair of tattooed bossoms being waved under my nose. Had to retreat before I dropped too many notes! One lady even helped us load up the cars! Crap money - don't care - can't wait to go back!

This is sooooo wrong, it's great. Beat it, in major key.
