  1. Whoa! This guy has all the moves to mortify your children.
  2. To start the stories, long time ago we played at our drummers wedding - he was suitably inebriated and foolishly was left in control of the smoke machine trigger. It was shall we say 'very dense' in every sense... I can still remember the plaintive cry as our guitarist danced off the edge of the stage- of course, nobody saw it, we just heard it..
  3. My covers band are learning this little belter in the hope of ever getting out and gigging again. It's a proper 'crowd mover.' Then I just saw this performance, and this band are 1.) Achingly cool 2.) Far better dancers than I ever was, without an instrument. Now, I'm not a stand there motionless guy, I do move and that, but I just wondered if any of the BC massive can match this, better it or, if you have a story to tell? 😃
  4. Sea Foam Green one on Bax now £249. Just in case 😉
  5. Yep, mine doesn't seem too bad either - certainly not anything to cause an issue live. Similarly the J pup isn't massively noisy either, currently I'll keep it stock.
  6. Hi all I'm lucky enough to have acquired some lovely gear, and tried out a few variations over the years. I do sometimes wonder though, if I were to start all over again (with the benefit of this experience) would I buy what I have now? I know a lot of us flip stuff quite regularly (and that is part of the fun) but I just wondered if anyone had sold it all and started from scratch? If so, did what you buy end GAS forever, or were you back on the mill again soon? Or, if you were to do that, what do you think you'd replace everything with ? (keep it simple, 1 bass and an amp/cab/combo etc.) PS. I have no idea about that second question myself...😁
  7. Lock down boredom and funds sitting on my Paypal account from gear sales have weakened my resolve.... Ordered a 5 string in Sea Foam Green from Bax for £258... Free returns (though I suspect it will stay) so why not?
  8. I think you might be right there - I have a mate who works near them so that could be a handy option. Cheers 🙂
  9. I first saw Robert Trujillo in 1990 at the Clash of the Titans in Wembley arena. Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies. ST seemed like an odd fit, but they absolutely ripped it and Trujillo just blew my mind. He's been bossing it ever since imho. 🤘
  10. Hi all I have a poorly EHX Bass Soul Food, not a fancy pedal but I like it. It seems to have a problem which I think might stem from the internal True Bypass/Buffer Switch. It seems to switch OK, but once the pedal has been engaged and turned off then signal cuts out. These are notoriously loud 'poppers' when in True Bypass so I'm not too bothered about having it switch between the two, just working in Buffered would do. Does anyone do (obviously for a fee) pedal repairs like this? Or know anyone who would (I'm in North Essex near Colchester.) Cheers Jason
  11. Our drummer Gary farts Mustard Gas, unfortunately often in my area.
  12. I bought some to try on my BB (not used flats before) and I like them - I did shell out for Dunlops to go on my Sandberg and they are a bit more flexible and slightly smoother in feel than the Olympias BUT a lot more money. The Olympias are staying on the BB and to my inexperienced fingers they feel great and sound good too. Worth doing the Make An Offer thing on Ebay - mine auto accepted at £10, so worth using up your offer attempts to shave a few quid off if you can.
  13. Surely that Fodera B string tuner would also require you to adjust it in the reverse direction of the other tuners on that side too? I can see that inducing a proper brain freeze, rabbit in headlights moment when tuning mid gig 😲
  14. Lovely bass and I'm glad you like it.🙂 I'd still prefer it without the backing plate though. I think it's the corner on the right hand side that bugs me, they always look shaped to fit something that isn't there to me. Maybe if it was a more rounded off shape I'd change my mind.
  15. Also can't abide those 'vintage' bits of bass furniture. The ugly pick up and bridge covers, those weird plastic lumps screwed in seemingly random places.
  16. I also like with or without, it's just those 'without' ones that have the knobs mounted on a 'disembodied ' metal plate, rather than being just drilled etc.
  17. I shudder at basses that have the knobs mounted on a plate (eg Jazz bass style) but that then have no scratchplate. It just looks like an afterthought to me. Similar reasons for not liking clear scratchplates.
  18. I'm playing about with this too. Currently I'm liking fuzz into a slow phaser, blended with a clean signal via LS2. Also like the blended fuzz into a cocked wah. Best to roll off the treble on the bass.
  19. Yes, I did worry that I'd ordered the wrong length, but the head end silk starts just past the nut by about an inch or so. They were the 37" Long Scale ones (my bass is 34") - the silks at the bridge (not strung through body) also stop just before the saddles - so it's a tight fit. I do like them but the sizing and taper does seem a bit iffy on the B and E.
  20. Well I had to choose between Dunlops and the La Bella LTFs and went for the Dunlops in the end- mostly because the B is a 125 and closer to what I'm used to on the Dunlops and it drops down to 118 on the LTFs. Fitted and sounding and feeling great - so thanks all for your input. 😀 Very much appreciated! Only thing I found that worried me a bit was with the B string, it stays thick well past the nut and much further than any other string I've had. I had to strip off some of the silk to get the end of the string into my tuning peg and It was a very tight squeeze. I could have done with cutting the string 3/4" shorter but that would not have fitted - with a bit of jiggling though the string has seated correctly around the peg.
  21. Seems to be Dunlops and La Bella LTFs that get the most positive comments - I wonder how the two compare?
  22. Great thanks - so is a 'low tension' flat about the same as a round, or less 'tense'? 😀
