  1. Youre welcome! It's the best allround cab ive ever used. Good sound, very light and compact and very loud. Enjoy!
  2. Re daft writing on the still photo, I think scott devine wrote a few months ago about how youtube now rank your videos and promo and unfortunately failure to do it in the new click bait style can seriously dent how youtube promote your videos unfortunately. It's a shame as I hate clicking on stuff like that, puts me off if anything. Just like the Italian bassist (sorry I've forgotten his name) who does slap bass. His click bait looks awful, but his videos are actually very good and funny!
  3. I use daddrio exls. Great strings.
  4. Love that colour and finish!
  5. I had a no name one years ago. Pretty useless. Bulky, hard to play and just got drowned out as soon as we started playing.
  6. Great stuff. Keep us informed. Potential great cab here.
  7. They were up around £800 a month or two ago.
  8. I think that with any decent cab, it's easy to see its potential straight away, even at low levels. I've put a lot of different things through it including different amp modellers as well and it replicates what I'm putting in, which is great. What has impressed me is that it's quite a tight cab, ie theres no sludge in the sound and it is reacted very well to adding or subtracting eq. Even when I've hit a few full volume notes. The acid test is going to be at volume. Theres nothing to make me think that it wont cope at volume so far. If it does live up to its initial performance, it's a seriously killer cab. I'm talking for fairly large stage areas too - clubs etc. For pubs I've no doubt already it will be a winner. 4ohms you see. Make one cab solutions 4ohms. Stop messing about with 8ohm. Powerful head, 4ohm, lightweight cab = winner.
  9. Nice! Honestly a fantastic cab. Have a play with the on / off / half find the sound you like and you're good to go! It's honestly all you'll need. Hot covers also made me a quality padded leather cover. Well worth the money. You've got a great bargain there!
  10. I rang Dave Green after Mark Gooday said to ring him yesterday, as I was biasing my amp. Theyll sort you out. I had a similar problem with the biasing not moving on certain valves. Dave doesnt think it's an issue. You just balance them to reduce hum. He said use it for 100+ hours then get back in touch. In all honesty, if ashdown sort everything for you, you have got a great deal there! Just remember to check the DI too, just in case.
  11. Yes, the buy it now is for everyone to see and bid on. Then once there is a build up of watchers you get the option to send all of those watches a deal price to try and tempt them.
  12. Give them a ring and they will sort it. They did that to me. Sent me an ex display model in a battered stuck together random cardboard box. The fact dpd delivered it and it had been bumped all over the show didnt help. On mine, one valve looked lose, there were scratches on it, the vu meter didnt work and the DI was faulty. To their credit, the guy in Cardiff got in touch and said hed find which store had the best one and replace it, and he did very quickly. The issue I think is the couriers. Especially now they're so over worked. If they drop or roll it, it's not good. The one I ended up keeping has a few small Nick's, and the vu light didnt work again, but it played brilliant so I kept it. Also, Ashdown very kindly offered to have a look if I wasnt happy. However, PMT were advertising these as clearance, when they're clearly not. They are ex demo or display models.
  13. Definitely. Im starting to get a real rich sound which I like. But its punchy too which is perfect. With the quilter i had to add more bass eq to get that feel of a bigger cab, with the ctm it's right there from the start. I'm also managing to get that kind of third harmonic sound. It's just such a shame I cant give it a full blast work out yet! The one think I will say (although it's based on 2 days at low level playing) is that it's more an old school proper bass cab. It's not a high fidelity slap machine cab. I may be wrong though. So far, very impressed.
  14. Was this from PMT?
  15. Been playing the ctm300 through his today. Absolutely loving it. It a really good sound. The cab just keeps getting better. If it can hold the sound quality at high volume, it's a winner.
  16. Sorted.
  17. Hi all, can anyone help with a biasing issue on a CTM300? I'm trying to bias a few valves, but they wont go to "0" Their limit seems to be 5 and 3. They will go further down, but not further up? I'm turning the adjuster anti clockwise to try and get the needle to 0, and turning clockwise brings it down towards -10. Tube 1 = 3. Tube 2 = 0. Tube 3 = 4. Tube 4 = 5. Tube 5 = 5. Tube 6 = 0. Ideally they should all be at "0", but I just cant get that to happen. Am I doing something wrong? If @Ashdown Engineering could help thatd be great too.
  18. It's crazy. People will happily spend £800-1000 on a barefaced that is nowhere near as solid or well built, yet these are the same weight as the barefaced 4x10s! For £185!
  19. Yep. Both great cabs. The 2x10 is very similar size to the 4x10 though. These never come up, and just as I'm spent up, 3 come along at once!
  20. The Ampeg sim on the bass channel is one of the best amps ive ever heard.
  21. Just a curve ball, but I have a CTM300 and use it with a Laney N410. Theres one for sale on ebay right now for £185 in London. I'd snatch their hand off if I lived closer. I definitely recommend a high quality, lightweight cab. But with as many speakers as possible - 4x10, 6x10 - you just get 'more' using that style of cab with a big valve amp, than a single 12, and itll feel safer on top. The Laney weighs around 23kg pretty much the same weight as the equivalent Barefaced 4x10. They're also a lot more solid than the super compact etc.
  22. RCF M18 - amazing piece of kit. Also has studio quality amp and cab modellers. Very easy to use and fantastic sound. Also works on 2G and 5G.
  23. Morning all, Ended up watching hours and hours of old music last night on Youtube, which from one 80s video to another led to the Bangles and in particular Michael Steele. Watching various live, studio and promo video performances of them, I dont think ive ever seen a bassist play so many different basses! It was really refreshing, and a hell of a collection for all you bass geeks! Great Ampeg sound from all the performances too, and great to see all the members playing, harmonising and having their own singing parts too. Michael is really hypnotising to watch. Got to admit, ive probably under rated these as a band in the past. But they sound great to me.
  24. I have nothing to do with this listing, but I do own a laney N410 and love it to bits. At £185 it's the bargain of the month for anyone down south. Best sounding, lightest, compact 4x10 I've ever used. It's on ebay under LANEY N410.
