Up for sale is the best cab I've ever owned. Dont want to sell it. But for gigging I need a 2x10, 4x10 and 6x10, so I've decided to go x3 2x10s to cover all options. Now, this Laney ...... Current details around £700-£800 - if you can find one in stock - which is rare. It is made with the tuff stuff paint so no need to worry about rips or tears. The drivers are LaVoce excellent quality. It has a switchable horn. On, Off or Half. The cab is very very compact, easily fits in a boot of a car. Rare for a high quality 4x10. It is also around 23kg !!!!! You'll pay double, if not triple for a boutique cab with weight like this. Also comes with a high quality padded faux leather/pvc hot covers cover with understrap so the cover doesnt rise. Excellent / immaculate condition. Pick up Leyland, Lancashire.

It sounds bad, but no, not really. The lack of a mainstream top of the pops tv show (and similar) where the majority of the chart was decided by all ages and tastes killed of music for me. Look at the charts now. Awful. It is a shame because there are obviously countless amazing new bands out there, but very few break through. And even less get the air play and exposure they deserve. I continue to listen to old stuff, and try out older stuff I've never heard before, but unless something new comes and finds me - like the odd good pop song I hear, or recommendations like Greta van fleet, I dont look for it anymore. On the plus side, we must be due a new breakthrough type of music soon which might mix things up a bit. The rnb, grime, rap thing etc ran its course a long time ago. The whole thing needs a shake up for me. Just my opinion, I know others will love it.

With a tinge of sadness my dream all valve beast is up for sale. It's never been gigged or driven hard (or even half hard) at all. Bought from PMT earlier this year, to satisfy my 70s rock itch in a low key band. However, a change of direction now means I simply wont need it. It's too nice to be sat here, so I want someone to enjoy it. Its 300w of beastlyness! Beautiful, unmistakable valve sound that you cant replicate (weve all tried). It has everything you need input and output wise and a pre and post high quality DI. It has a user bias control which is very easy to do. You dont need to take to a tech. Active and Passive inputs. Mute button. Gain, Master, Bass, Mid, Treble dials and Mellow, Bass, Mid, Treble buttons to punch in easily. 2ohm, 4ohm and 8ohm separate speakon connectors, so you can run with any cab or combination of cabs - unlike the old valve heads. FX send and returns. Built so well and solidly. Built to last. Ashdown will service and repair these anytime - so customer service is always available. They're always at the end of the phone, and brilliant to deal with. 32kg but easy to move due to the top handles. The weight is evenly distributed, it's not like those dead weights of metal power amps you get. This is nice and balanced and doesnt feel that heavy. The custom made faux leather and padded cover also has an under strap to stop the cover coming away. However due to the design you can put your amp on the cab with the cover on, un velcro the cover and take it off without moving the amp. And vice versa when putting back on. Notes: There are a few minor scratches. You dont see them from a couple of feet away, but I'll photo them so you can see. VU meter. The VU meter lights up red for biasing and works, but doesnt light yellow when 'on'. I've spoken to ashdown who think it's just the bulb maybe loose. It doesnt effect operation in any way so I've never bothered taking it to be fixed. I've had a few phone calls with Dave Green at Ashdown - the maestro who designed this amp - about biasing etc and he has said that it doesnt really matter on this amp. You can balance the valves if you like, but as long as they're not in the red they are running perfect. He said until the valves have done at least 100 hours they are not even run in. This has done nowhere near that yet. These are around £2000 new and £100 a cover. Save a fortune. Photos to follow. Official spec here: https://ashdownmusic.com/products/ctm-300-head

Helix stomp has almost everything you could think of. Failing that, the vt bass is very good. Or how about a trace rack preamp?

That'll be a great rig. Loads of power.
-
No. We eventually got asked to stop playing!
-
My very first band was 5 of us at 16, spending Saturdays in the drummers garage jamming and drinking. We couldnt play a note between us, but we all liked metal so tried learning what was in the current edition of guitar magazine or something similar. As I recollect one of them was Lemon Song by led zep. Needless to say, that never worked and just turned into a drinking club! First song I really learned was around 5 years later - Shes Electric by Oasis.
-
I must have changed my rig about 5 times during lockdown. Absolutely no sense to it. But it passes the time!
-
Fantastic cab from Ally. Very easy to deal with and quality kit. Thanks again!

Couldnt the punters in the venue just buy a couple of more drinks each to help the venue? Thatd cover the cost of the band, and it's more likely to be their local pub or club, than the bands.
-
Surely though, almost every venue I know of is either given a budget by the brewery to put on a gig (it benefits them as they then sell more beer) or if the landlord pays (as part of his business plan) surely that's written off as an expense and/or tax deductible. Interestingly though, around here, with reduced capacity in venues, the business plan has been to put the price of food and drink up, not down.

Evening all. I see the barefaced two10s has a selectable switch for 12 or 4 ohms. So, 1. select 4ohm if using one cab. 2. select 12ohm if using three cabs. But was does running 2 cabs at 12 ohm do? (6ohm?) Will that be fine for running say any class d and class a/b amp? (Ashdown abm600 and rm500).

The money is always there. It just depends who gets it. Play for free - the band doesnt get it, but the promoter, landlord, bar staff, brewery, beer suppliers, etc will. Despite what theyll tell you.
