1. More info here, always happy to see more bassists, gives me a rest
2. I'm always available if you need website chats (or god forbid want one designed), tis what I do.
3.
I could say 'Be bold! Put £100 on it!'. But, that's how I ended up with my Ibanez SR760.
tempting, so tempting
4. My current go to is my Badass II Highway Jazz, a damn fine instrument. They do go 'road worn' quite quickly though due to the nitro finish. That price looks about right.

6. Oh Dear God, My YOB dream bass...get ye behind me satan. I wish I had the cash to offer, but I don't, so GLWTS
7. I have a Squier Affinity Jazz V I'm happy to let go, a good starter 5. I never got on with it, I'm a 4-string kind of guy also.
8. Don;t get me wrong, they sound fine...just a little coarse
9. A little update, took her out for the first time last night for a play (just a jam night, but a good exercise). Well a revelation, apart from the strings (which have the consistency of a cheese grater), the sound is superb...these are good pick-ups, the neck plays as fast as any other neck I've ever played (I could of course just be very slow) and it sits very comfortably on the strap. To top if off, after my first stint, the house bass player came over and asked about my new toy, 'how much' he asked, so I did the usual how much do you think. he said 'well for a Fender USA you are looking at.........', at this point I put him straight (admittedly I was behind a speaker so he could only see the body, not the headstock), he wandered off looking a little depressed. She's a keeper, and a keeper with no tweaking needed.
10. +1 to drinks. The guitarist in my old band liked a drink, but the number of mistakes he was making was terrible (plus being deaf in one ear didn't help, but that's another story). I the end I had to be straight with him, no alcohol until after the gig otherwise I'm walking. This seemed to do the trick, he never drank until after a gig and his playing improved. Sounds a bit draconian, but I was worrying more about him making mistakes than on my own playing and it was frankly spoiling my enjoyment. If it's not fun then what's the point.
11. The first blues festival I ever played I was asked for an autograph...that was weird..I had no idea how to react. A mumbled thank you and a signature was all I could manage. But the strangest was being asked for an autograph when clearing the stage after a gig, I was only engineering. It didn't matter how many times I told them I wasn't in the band, they would not take no for an answer. I find now if someone compliments me on my playing, a thank you, shake of the hand and a 'I'm glad you enjoyed the gig' seem to go down well.
12. Thank's bunny, ordered now from allparts, but always handy to know.
13. I haven't tried the strap on the new bass, but I'd never trust it :-)
14. ta, For anyone else who may need them on a search, they are available here
15. Does anyone know where one can purchase just the pegs (guitar bit) for the Schaller Strap Locks? I have no need for the strap bits as I only ever use the one strap, and I know they will just end up being thrown in the man drawer never to be seen again.
16. It is a very nice bit of kit, a couple of people (admittedly not bass players) when asked, guessed it's price at well over the £110. I need to get some strap-locks for it and then I'll be taking it out this week for a proper going over.
17. OK, to add my t'penneth worth, I took a drive down to Romford on Saturday to take a look at this fabled beast. DV have a very nice shop, but as per most establishments many, many guitars....a few basses. Tried the display model of the J&D, and for the money I was frankly amazed. Looks the business, very hard to see any issues unless you look very hard (SP fit around the neck a little off, match to control panel not quite spot on), the display model had some white marks on the binding that didn't wipe off (spit and finger). To play, the neck felt as fast as my highway one, I'm not a fan of high gloss necks but this plays fine. Nice sounds from both pickups, with a very nice jazz grunt when you roll the body pick-up right off. Both up full gives a very pleasing thud. The long and short is I bought one, a boxed one from the warehouse. Inspected it for the marks mentioned above and all was well. Check out the intonation and action when I got home, and bar a couple of tweaks it was spot on. I bought this as a 'Jam'/experimentation bass, which it will be perfectly good for. Saves me lending my pricier (I won't say better just yet) basses to the great unwashed. Once I've had her out for proper play I'll report back, but if you are after a cheapy then you can't go far wrong with one of these.
