@spectoremg and others who are bored: while I do sympathise, I wonder why you are still reading/posting on the thread? To many of us it's all a bit of fun, even the serious replies, but YMMV.

Only marginally more futile than talking about the alleged difference in sound between rosewood and maple fingerboards, or other debates taking place on this forum.

If you use a headstock tuner you do need to be able to reverse the display for a lefty bass! 😄 (Most can do that.) Don't ask me how i know... 😉

B (or E) to G for bass guitars (while they're hanging from my neck). Before tuning, I pull each string once. For double bass/uprights I pull each string once before tuning, check the bridge is straight, then tune B (or E) to G and then back, G to B (or E), because the tuning never seems to stabilise with just one pass. My basses live in my room, a warm loft with near-constant temperature of about 23 degrees*. *Sits and waits for comments about heating bills and suggestions to move to the Med.

The reason why we are banging on about reporting what you (as the BC community) think is causing trouble is that we mods, as a team, can't guarantee to read ALL the posts in ALL threads. However, we act very fast on anything that gets reported.

I think we first should bother entering some relevant events, and in the specific case of the LBGS we can't as they haven't confirmed the dates...

If you mean on Basschat, we do have one - but you have to check it regularly, as it currently isn't set up to send alerts to users.

Or perhaps because it forces the reader's mind to move away from the obvious, most of whom tend to be male. I would prefer to simply see a few more female names in 'normal' lists, as splitting lists by gender does have the effect of making you think along the lines of 'if it didn't specify that they have to be female, would any of these women be taken into consideration?' (Probably only a couple of household names would.) There have historically been fewer female bass players around, so, proportionally, there will have been fewer outstanding female bassists than male bassists. I don't think all-female lists are the solution, though.

Epic fail on at least two levels. 1. Define 'best' - best chops, best playing for the song, best songwriting...? Get promptly mired in controversy. 2. Last time I checked, people don't play bass with their genitals, therefore 'female bassist' is as relevant as 'gay bassist' or 'black bassist.'
