I'd second the second hand B2 route - loads of effects and enough parameters to tweak that you'll get a decent idea of what each effect is capable of. If possible though get one with the manual ( or download it) as I still get confused by the whole drive/mix section! Cheers Alun

Crosskeys Hotel could be an option but the room is really small so depends on how many/how much gear. On a bigger scale there's the downstairs bar in Blackwood Miners' Institute which is only about 20 mins off the M4? Rob from the Islwyn club has used that for gigs too ( including Seth Horan). I played in a function room in the Wig & Pen, Newport a few weeks ago which was OK, had a decent car park and was pretty central for car or train goers? Cheers Alun

I probably practice 99% of the time unplugged and the only disadvantage I've found is that your muting can suffer a little as you can't always hear the ringing strings that are blatantly obvious through an amp. I've not found plucking too hard to be an issue though, but then I don't practice in places where it's all that noisy. Cheers Alun

Generally yes I would say the notes GCE would be thought of as a second inversion C major ( so C major with the 6th, G, in the bass) Cheers Alun

This should be interesting. I always found the U necks too thick on the 4 strings, although they didn't feel so bad on the sixes where the dimensions seemed to work better. Cheers Alun

Measured with a steel ruler.... Squier VM Jazz Elixir Nanowebs 45-105 in standard tuning 2mm 3mm 3mm Cort Curbow 6 string with Nanowebs 30-130 in standard tuning 2mm 3mm 3.5mm I think of it as medium but one of my students, who has a practically on the fretboard action, says high :-) I basically set it so that there is little or no buzz or clank unless I want it. I use a Micro POG quite a bit and the tracking is fantastic with both the octave up and down, but it isn't as warm sounding as my OC2. It's well worth a try in my opinion Cheers Alun

I usually use the two, but when I do use three it's RMI unless I'm also using my thumb in which case I go in the opposite direction ala Urb and Matt Garrison - TIMR or just TIM. I love the sound of 16th note funk lines played with thumb and index and am working on it at the moment. Cheers Alun
