  1. I might be talking out of my rear end, but I'd assumed that the strings cool down a bit after a break and contract a tiny amount after you put it down, so it pulls them sharp.
  2. I can take it! Just need to appropriate an envelope from work...
  3. Need to get Thekla on that list too. I've played old and new Mr Wolfs several times in various bands. Got a gig at The Gryphon coming up too, which is a must for a metal band let alone one in Bristol. Other places I'd like to play would include: - Headlining a festival, and get everyone to put the flash from their phones on (it was lighters when I first had this dream!), just so I can see them all - If famous enough, do a village hall tour, all booked under different names, announce them a day or two before and have a string of packed out small gigs for people that really want to be there
  4. I find the volume control on a strat too close to the strings. I've not played one long enough to get over that potentially being annoying. My Harley Benton SC-550 II is great though. Really seems to fit me much better than the Tele I have. The carved top and tune-o-matic bridge just works for me. And I like the control layout at lot.
  5. @ped - I'd be interested to hear your thoughts too if you do go for it. I've had a hankering for an all tube head recently, and this seems like it would suit me nicely. My ABM-600 isn't exactly lacking but I'm wondering if there might be some squashy tube magic I'm missing out on. It also might just be GAS 😅
  6. It's a great pedal. It isn't quite enough on its own for this band, but I've got it feeding the BBM as the "dry signal" so I can blend them, and then they're in the effects loop of the GX-100, which I can turn on/off at the click of a switch.
  7. Played at The Victoria in Swindon last night with Phantom Droid and Thrakian (we're Hora). It's a cool venue. Decent size live room, good sound, very competent sound tech, good lighting, smoke machine 🤘 Despite growing up in rural Wiltshire where Swindon was the closest big town, I'd never actually got my act together as a teenager to play there. So, it was nice from that aspect too. Really good fun. I did have a few flubs though. I blame that on almost having a migraine on Friday. I'm still not 100% and my wife didn't really want me to go out. I felt like sound check actually helped my head in a weird way though. Very strange. Gear: Combustion, GX-100, Mojo Mojo, Bass Big Muff, ABM-600 into the Hartke cab that was there.
  8. @DocTrucker the best life hack for that is to join a doom band. Then you HAVE to go to the gigs!
  9. They're still not on the Eipiphone website. I saw them as a targeted ad on Instagram. I don't think it's meant to be live on the PMT website yet. If you search for "Grabber", they don't come up.
  10. Looking at the specs, it's pearloid dots on a maple board, so pretty invisble, just like the Gibson originals.
  11. Oooh, and natural: https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/epiphone-grabber-bass-natural
  12. I was just advertised at... https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/epiphone-grabber-bass-ebony
  13. This is what was posted in the GT/GX facebook group: GT-1000 Version 4.0 – Now Available – Now, even more creative features have been added to the industry-leading guitar effects processor, including three newly developed high-gain guitar amp types that spotlight the continuing evolution of our advanced AIRD and MDP technologies. Meet the Crew X-Ultra is inspired by a classic British stack amp modified with a modern multi-stage gain circuit. X-Optima features an innovative new gain algorithm that takes full advantage of MDP’s adaptive frequency shaping. X-Titan is well-suited for down tunings and extended-range guitars with seven or eight strings. Also Available: GT-1000CORE Version 2.0 Doesn't seem like anything new for bass. I'm curious to see if they're working on something for the GX-100 too...
  14. Yep. Either a current doubler or a different supply. I recently bought the below cable. It's sold as a CCTV adapter, which means there isn't a guitar stuff extra markup. Does the job perfectly to double the current to power my GX-100 from my power supply. https://amzn.eu/d/08OxwCGL
  15. You are correct in your assumptions. What is the power supply on your board?
  16. It might be the most boring product refresh I've ever seen. They've dropped the jaguar bass from the line up too. https://www.fender.com/en-GB/electric-series/player-ii/?start=0&sz=23&cgid=electric-series-player-ii
  17. I was wondering if anyone knew of a sample trigger app for android. I'm hoping that I can replace our guitarist's ancient Digitech JamMan with something a bit more modern where I don't have to spend an hour loading 4 samples to it. I've just worked out that I can plug my audio interface into my tablet, which would give me a nice, balanced signal to send straight to FOH. These are for samples inbetween songs, so we want to have time to tune up and get ready for the next song while providing some atmosphere. I'd like to be able to trigger the samples using a MIDI bluetooth footswitch. Ideally, it would also have a fade out on the audio, so we can stop playback when we're ready to start the next song and it isn't a dead stop. Adding a volume pedal to the output isn't going to work for me. Too many things might be going on with my own or anyone else's pedals to think about doing that. Anyone know of anything suitable?
  18. Got it tidied up. Still need to get a shorter cable for the external pedal, but at least it's hidden underneath the board. I'm running the Mojo Mojo into the Bass Big Muff on dry mode as one pedal, turning the effects loop on and off, and it's monstrous. Loads of definition from the MM and glorious fuzz from the BBM. Does make me wonder about replacing my overdriven sound with pedals too. Get an LS2 or something like a Morningstar ML5 that I can control with MIDI to switch between loops and find another combination of pedals where one can be dirty and the other blends it. A rat clone and something else maybe. I might be getting ahead of myself! And defnintley ahead of my budget of £0... Other changes: I've swapped out the boost at the beginning of the chain for an EQ pedal that is doing a boost with some EQ points that I want. It really saturates everything massivley. Plus I've added a phaser because now I have more DSP than I did after ditching the fuzz in the GX. And I've got an Amp sim in there that I can turn on/off for practice.
  19. Really good this evening after missing a few due to (other people's) illness. I've re worked my pedalboard to have the Mojo Mojo and Bass Big Muff in the effects loop of my GX-100. The BBM is set to the dry setting, which lets you blend in a dry signal, which is for wimps 😬 I'm running the Mojo Mojo pretty hot into the BBM which makes a really articulate, but totally distorted/fuzzed out signal, full of low end. I turned the loop on and the drummer said "I didn't think you could get heavier!". Very happy bunny. We also jammed out a new instrumental track too, so all in all, a good practice. We are struggling to get some samples onto a Digitech JamMan though. It was such a noisy signal. Might need to revisit the sample creation, or the device itself and get something a bit more modern...
  20. Glad to hear your Little Bass Thing is ok @stewblack. I was sad to see it not working at the bass bash last year. Enjoy the 2x8s!
  21. @skidder652003 yep! I'm in a doom band and it's great for a bit of atmosphere, or turn it on with fuzz and an octave +/- and you can make a huge wall of sound on your own.
  22. Good choice. I've always liked the look of them.
  23. I'd try creating your patches at gig volume using your live rig (try renting a rehersal space for an hour or two) and asking the rest of the band for a bit of tweaking time while they play. A rehersal shouldn't just be "can we all play it?", it should include things like ensuring that you sound cohesive as a collective in order to deliver the best results. I was getting what I thought were great results with my GX-100 in isolation. They ended up not working in a band context. It wasn't until I did the above that it all clicked into place. Then, once you have those tones set, you have a point of reference for what tends to work with everyone else playing, so it isn't so arduous in the future.
  24. The rubber washer types are ideal if you want to leave the strap on all of the time. When you start taking the strap off every time it goes in the case, that's when you need to think about proper strap locks. The constant movement is what does the damage. In terms of sustainability as well, these little bits of plastic aren't great. Just something else to go in a landfill. Get something made out of metal that is designed to be taken on and off regularly. My personal recommendation goes to the the Loxx strap locks.
