1. PM replied to Looks like it's sold gentlemen. Thanks for the interest and the kind words (about the garden!!)
2.
Is it a 2 piece slab? I always thought SUBs were made with the same stock of bodies (but uncontoured) as 'rays.
You are correct sir, it is a 2 piece slab, you can see this in the picture of the back. I'm not sure it's from the same stock as the std rays as this body is poplar I believe.
3. Sold to obbm. Pleasure doing business with you sir!
4.
Always loved Ellington. I had the pleasure of seeing him and his band on his last european tour.
That must have been rather special!
5. I have a particular fondness for my dad's "the big 18" record. Don't know if anyone else has heard of them. Also Claude Bolling is pretty good. My love of jazz is influenced by my dad. While his brother was listening to the stones and beatles, he grew up listening to his dad's big band records. Stuff like Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Jimmie Lunceford, the Duke, Benny Goodman etc.
6.
Glad to hear it's been resolved!
+1 My experiences with the Gallery have always been very positive. They have always been very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Despite my limited skills as a bass player I have never been made to feel inferior while trying stuff in the shop, and boy, do they let you try some nice stuff!!!
7.
Mark Plattie bowies producer at the time was playing 2nd guitar to earl slick and swapped with gail on ashes, the dvd/video is worth a look too...especially wild is the wind, oh you guessed im a bowie nut, whoops.
What is the dvd called? Sounds good. Edit: ...ahem is it called "live at the bbc" perchance? Mental note: Read posts properly before replying...
8. Saw this badboy when it was at the Gallery, awesome bass.
9. That tonika bass, apart from the shape of the body, looks a lot like the bass the guy in flight of the conchords uses. I wonder if he's using a soviet era bass then? Interesting.
10.
Jeez! It's not as if it's that heavy!
I wholeheartedly agree, it's just I've heard people say before they found it to be heavy. Perhaps compared to markbass stuff it is!?
11. I own a td650 and gladly put up with the weight - it is absolutely fantastic, wouldn't change it for anything. Well worth the kidney and other vital organs I had to sell in order to get it.
12. Wizzzzzzzzzzard! ..sorry, that should be +1 for a wizard thumper.
13.
still for sale... reduced... !
pm'd
14. Thanks everyone! That's exactly what I was after. However I tried to word it in a google search I couldn't find it!
15. Following on from the topic posted recenty on wet/dry blending, I wanted to know if anyone knows of a blend pedal that is the form of a volume/wah type pedal that could be used to adjust the wet/dry mix on the fly. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Cheers Nick
16. I had the exact same problem, a quick search reveals this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=superfly Should answer your questions.
17. I've got the non-export model in old candy apple red with a set of wizards dropped in. With the neck pup solo'd it has that familiar p thump and with the bridge pup turned up, playing fingerstyle over the bridge it fairly barks! Great bass with a split personality in tones. I haven't had any issues with neck dive or muddiness. It balances perfectly on a strap and is bright enough for slap, if that sort of thing's your thing...
18. I found with the superfly I had that it used to colour the sound quite noticeably even with the eq set "flat"
19. That looks gorgeous. PM'd also. But all the best with the sale anyway.
20. ...not getting rid of my td650 anytime soon either, it's the nuts. That sounds like a good deal for the fafner though, go for it I'd say.
21.
Ramble On : Led Zep I just like the feel of this tune, it's one I've been meaning to learn for years. Finally got round to it the other night while learning another tune for the band. Doubt if it'll ever be played live tho, we probably do enuff Zep already.( Can you do too much Zep? hmmmmmm!)
I'm learning that one at the moment too! Was inspired to after having seen JPJ with the foos last sat. In his own, understated way, JPJ is actually quite difficult to imitate (well for me anyway, I've only been playing 2 1/2 years self-taught).
22.
Well, damn, don't I wish I'd read this a while back. I had two basses there on commission sale: a teal green stringray 5 and a yamaha fretless 5. Got a call in *February* to say the shop was closed in favour of online only, would I collect the 'ray, and the fretless was sold. I note from earlier comments that the retail shop shut before Christmas. That's a long long delay before calling me. And, oh, I had to burn a day's holiday to get down on a weekday to pick up the 'ray too (thank god I did though, eh?). They couldn't find the paperwork for the Yamaha, and said a cheque would be in the post. That was March 6th and guess what: I'm still sat here three months later with no money for the Yamaha sale. Lots of phonecalls from me to them, lots of empty platitudes or unreturned calls. Barry owes me a phonecall. Again. He knows it, Nick knows it, the other staff there know it. They owe Companies House a set of accounts too. Will I ever see my cash? I'm guessing not. Having spent two grand with them just before they closed the shop up, this is all a touch disappointing. If you're watching guys, please do the decent thing. --Chris
Sounds to me like they haven't lost the paperwork at all but rather they're robbing peter to pay paul. Or waiting to rob another unsuspecting peter in order to pay you. Hope you get this sorted
23. Sold a Hipshot extender to Rich, deal was agreed and paid for same day. Prompt payment, pleasant to deal with, what else can a seller ask for? Top marks
