*edit*

maybe the bongos are different then. I tried a Stingray HS and I was getting different output levels for each position of the pickup switch.
2. Looks to be another interesting build from AGC Hope it turns out to be everything you'd like it to be, Pete.

An attractive Bongo, at last! I wonder if the pickup settings have uneven output levels like the other HS basses made by Musicman?

Defret

Machines has defretted his Vintage bass and said it was easier than he thought it would be. Also have a look at this link: http://www.geocities.com/charlesarms/

6. You could always ask Alex if they'd match the Bass Centre's price?

8.
Not sure how neck tension would affect things, can you elaborate?
Just simply the flex in the neck. By way of illustration older basses are more settled, their necks have become pre-shaped like a bentwood chair because of the constant tension of the strings and truss rod. Your basses might have necks that have been made from wood of slightly different density and so they exert greater or lesser tension on the strings despite action, neck relief etc. being equal.
9. welcome back Mike! Not troubled by the death screams of ghost locusts in your sleep then?
10. I've just come back from Maplins and they're selling rubber mats for sticking on top of car dashboards to stop things sliding around. You could get one or more of those. They're about the size of half a sheet of A4 paper. They've also got these
11. This is my old PC, normally kept as a back up. It was built by Mesh and is still going strong. Originally I had installed 2 graphics cards, 1Gb RAM, zip drive, CDRW and dvd drive and Soundblaster Live Platinum card. But now its had one graphic card removed. Because with so much stuff installed the poor thing couldn't cope. The harddrive will be wiped in advance of collection so no software included I'm afraid. It will run Win2K fine and you can still obtain the relevant drivers from websites for the peripherals. Its running USB 1.0 so don't expect a lot out of it in that respect. Otherwise, its proved very reliable. EDIT: This PC is still perfectly capable of running a linux distro and would offer good performance, even by current standards.
12. Now my custom mixer and Alembic power supply is finished, I've got the parts left over from the Fostex Hexamix 4 channel mixer to give away. It includes assorted pots, switches, 1/4" phono sockets, fader sliders (all chassis mounted), tall plastic control knobs, and the chassis from the mixer itself. If there's something in particular you'd liked photographed, let me know.
13. I've seen some of them pop up on Ebay recently. Seem to be very good value.
14. you're welcome - a happy ending is what counts

19. Give Chris Minh Doky some consideration too. Lovely chap and he's based in Denmark.
20.
Do I still need to do that if I'm wearing my Anti-Alien mind reading hat?
Blimey, if thats what he does for mind reading, I shudder at the thought of how he stops their anal probes.
21. I think the notes you've shown shift from bass part to chords and back to bass part in places. I've copied some chords from http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/s/stev...nder/as_crd.htm I think you'll notice that in the section we've been discussing, they suggest its an F9 the first time around which introduces a much richer tension than using the Eb. Chorus 1: G#m______D#7/A#________B___________C# (Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky) Always G#m______D#7/A#________B___________C# (Until the ocean covers every mountain high) Always G#m______D#7/A#_________B__________C# (Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea) G#m______D#7/A#______B__________[1: F9; to bridge][others: C#] Always (Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream)
22.
So Tanc, ignore the crap, don't leave, it won't help. Theres loads of interesting stuff to look at on here, it'd be a shame to miss out on all of this for the sake of this one thread.kd
Tanc's an experienced member of Bassworld, she's encountered this sort of thing before and has dealt with it adroitly. All I'm going to ask is that people treat each other with a little respect, which I'm guessing is what Tanc is seeking. Lets keep this forum a broadly based and inclusive community after all, its about the bass isn't it?
