Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 for sale. - *SOLD*

2008 bass. I bought it from the original owner this time last year. Black with black pickguard Original hardcase including original Ernie Ball cloth. I’ve fitted a white Pearl style pickguard from WD Music, but I still have the original too. Great condition, just a few string marks behind the bridge. Not a single chip to the finish down to the wood that I can see. Set up by Dave Wilson and not gigged since. I have the original purchase invoice from the previous owner. Love the Ray sound but can’t get on with the body size and string tension compared to my Warwick’s. Most solidly built bass I’ve ever owned - quality is fantastic. Collection only or I can meet within sensible distance of NE43 Would be interested in a straight swap for an equally well loved 4 string Stingray with maple board.

SOLD: Steinberger Spirit Headless Bass

Steinberger Bass that I bought to use at my caravan a few months ago. I just don’t get on with it. Full, as new working order. No damage - I can just see a tiny scratch on the back. Plays well, sounds good, strings still bright. Comes with gig bag. Collection definitely preferred as I don't have a box to send it in. Currently up at Bamburgh, Northumberland but can bring it down to Tyne Valley/Newcastle from 16th August. Would trade/swap for a Kala U Bass. I'm on holiday this week so I might be a little slower to respond than usual.

This is a custom shop build Warwick Triumph 5 string (E-C) that I bought from Divine Comedy bass player Simon Little in 2019. It has a custom John East preamp and comes with a cool stickered up (Jools Holland etc) flight case plus original soft gig bag and stand. This bass has been gigged plenty and toured. Retail on one of these is about €7500 + VAT and you are unlikely to ever bump into another one!!! This is a real one off professional instrument. (Which is a shame as I'm nowhere near good enough on upright to justify it!). I love having it in the house but I am not a good upright player and don't really have the inclination to learn enough to be able to justify an instrument of this calibre if I'm honest. Would be interested in trading down to a much cheaper upright that I can justify - 4 string Triumph Rockbass or similar, max value of £500. Equally happy with a cash deal. I don't want to courier this. It is huge and heavy so collection or meet up only although I doubt the hardcase would fit in my current car.

Is my master loud enough? OPINIONS PLEASE :)
bassoctopus replied to MaGrOtTeN's topic in Share Your Music
It's easy to get dragged into this. We just had our new album mastered by Jon Astley - pretty much re-mastered every big band - Led Zep Remasters, The Who, Rolling Stones. You name it he'll probably have done it. We agreed that the loudness war is killing music and we decided to master our rock album to early 90s level. I'm more than happy that we managed to retain our dynamics even if the album is quieter than modern stuff, who cares! This hugely loud stuff has no dynamics and is tiring to listen to. Everybody has a volume control on their stereo and can turn it up if it's not loud enough. For what it's worth, this is the volume that he recommended, and who were we to disagree http://300ftgorilla.bandcamp.com/track/twilights-blind-2 -
New 300ft single. Album out in a few weeks. http://300ftgorilla....ilights-blind-2 I'm rocking the Thumb NT and Thunderfunk as usual

Couple more vids someone just sent me from the same gig. nice quality too Jeremy - Pearl Jam - with 12 string http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEvOzMAwG-U Black Hole Sun (with excruciating bass mistake - I hate playing this song ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsxfqeGZY04 -
Make sure they are in phase though. If you get less bottom end with both the signals on then they are out of phase. I find the bass POD to be an excellent device for recording and available on ebay for £50 ish. I use this, unless it's going to be a released recording when I mic and DI my amp. For demos the Bass POD is more than good enough

Dogman - Warwick Infinity and 12 string Hamer

We do Over My Head, Cult of Personality, Love Rears Up. As well as 90s grunge stuff - AIC, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden. And some Janes Addiction and a bit of Fishbone. It goes down very well if you get the right venue. Otherwise, people look a bit bemused watching a covers band where only the band knows the covers It's a stop gap until we get our originals band 300ft Gorilla up and running again. -

Cheers -
They are hard work on the hands. I play mine for 3 in our set, but they have to be the last 3 we play. My left hand is fecked by the end of it!

Fishbone in Newcastle tonight :)
bassoctopus replied to thisnameistaken's topic in General Discussion
Kings X sound was really good. The venue was too small for the choas of the Fishbone sound I think -
Don't think Rocky played on the last album. He was playing with them in 2008 too.

Fishbone in Newcastle tonight :)
bassoctopus replied to thisnameistaken's topic in General Discussion
They only sold 100 tickets at Newcastle. Luckily they sold another 100 or so on door sales Bloody Ncle Academy 10pm curfew is a joke though. Norwood wasn't impressed when we saw him at the end. Great gig as usual, but sound was pretty poor -
Saw Fishbone on Saturday night, who were fantastic as always. Had a chat with Norwood afterwards Here is playing his Thumb Bass, also played his Infinity NT 5 too during the gig And a couple of weeks earlier Kings X played a killer set at the same venue, and I got Mr Pinnick to sign my 12 string Hamer. Inspirational stuff from 2 bands who should be more famous than they are
