1.
Interesting. Of course all the basses were played full up with the same flat EQ The basses are ... 1: Fodera 2: Squier 3: Music Man I wish I could do another comparison but I don't have the Fodera any longer. : / I will do a slap/finger/plectrum comparison once I get the new Squier 77 and pit it against a CV and a MIA. Though the MIA is by far superior in many ways, the others have a sound that works in some context's.
That's interesting as I thought number 1 was a musicman, and didn't really like number 3
2. 1, 2, 3 most preferred to least
3.
Soundwise, I've not heard or played through such an expressive cab before. It brings a new level of clarity and nuance above my Compact
Gah, don't say things like that, GAS is a bastard
4. I have no money, but I'm looking at this a fantasising about pretending to be Steve DiGiorgio GLWTS
5. Make me an offer type bump - once my Lakland ships on Thursday this will be the last thing I'm selling, which means I can quit all the Facebook instrument sale groups and wont see crappy £250 Ibanez/Dean/Schecter guitars constantly cluttering up my feed.
6. I don't like Rotosounds - sound dead and feel very abrasive on my fingers. DR Nickel Lo-Riders are my favourite, but I think I'll have to switch to Ernie Ball next time I re-string to keep the cost down.
7. Does Fender's poor quality control make them good for metal? At leas they're not as expensive as a Fodera etc
8. And back up after Gumtree timewasters.... would ideally like to trade for a Line 6 Pocket Pod if one about?
9.
But even the Thunderbuckers aren't cheap (and they are least pricey of the currently available T-Bird replacement pickups). And by the time you've had the extra routing and wiring done to your MiJ Fender P you'll probably spent as much again as the bass cost you in the first place.
No, but then again they're only pickups I've come across that I like as much as G&L MFDs, so I guess you get what you pay for
10. I played a Mike Lull PT4 and JT4 at Bass Direct a couple of months ago and they were just lovely, particularly the mahogony bodied PT4, Mr Lull's T-Bird pickups are stunning
11.
Millimetres surely ?
Eh......yes [/embarrassed]
12. I thought on first glance they were the same size, but a tape measure says the bridge one is about 3cm bigger
13. I've spoken to the courier we use at work and they've sorted me out a good price via TNT, if I didn't have access to this though I'd be seriously considering saying collection/meet only for any bass over £500.00 in future.
14.
How much insurance do you need?
About £1400 to cover my and the buyer's losses if it all goes belly-up
15. Any good ones that don't cost a fortune? I'm trying to get a price for shipping a bass within the UK (Sussex to Edinburgh) and all the couriers I've spoken to are either expensive or don't offer enough insurance: DHL - expensive (about £85) UPS - not as expensive as DHL, but still high (about £60) and a nightmare on the phone Fedex - don't deal with the general public City Link - only insure up to £100 for damage and £1000 for loss Parcelforce - not spoken to them, but I believe don't insure musical instruments My Hermes - don't ship musical instrument Any other suggestions?
16.
I thought this sounded really nice through that MB 1x12. Had a quick play and it was fun. A lot less impressed when I heard it through a 'competitive' speaker brand (I won't name which or the flame-crew will be out very quickly, lol). Could be that it needs 'fine tuning' to match different cab setups though.
Does it rhyme with "air-laced"?
17.
Kirk is an awesome guitarist, but he shouldn't really imho
Or at the very least have his wah pedal removed from him and told to start thinking about notes rather than just making a lot of wah noise.
18. Despite the lack of bass and sh*te drum sound (guitar tone isn't up to much either) Justice is my favourite of theirs these days. I don't have the first record, or Load/Reload but I do pefer the thrash era. Death Magnetic was okay, but not stunning - made worse by the overdriven snare drum and horrible brick wall limiter on the mastering.
19. Make sure you get some photos up when you've done the deal
20.
I will trade the ray for this Streamee. Its really hard to get instruments sold in sweden right now. People dumping prices. So to get most of it its better to trade.
Ah, fair play :-)
21. If you're not loving the 'Ray, why not move it on and use the cash to pick up a second-hand SS1 or similar?
22. This thread came up the other day in relation to the Streamliner EQ - might be of some help http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/genz-streamliner-600-900-tone-control-primer-813663/
23. I'm not, but you're probably looking at betwen £30 and £60 depending on how much work needs doing - though as it's new I'd have thought it'll be at the lower end of that (plus strings if you want to change them). Best thing to do is give them a call or take the bass in and they should be able to give you a ballpark price.
