Being a massive Lynott fan I can safely say that ive never seen, or read, or heard about Lynott playing a sunburst bass. As far as i know he played the legendary black fenders, the red one (thats pictured earlier) and a BC rich bass (although that might have only be in the video for "do anything you wanna do") and an Ibanez Roadstar (i think) That doesnt say that he didnt own one - according to many books, his first ever bass was a Fender P Bass given to him by Brush Shiels, but nobody ever said what it was. However, the Phil Lynott Exhibition in Dublin bought out this gem..http://www.flickr.com/photos/lauranagle/5588262767/ but i doubt it would ever be for sale, and theres no history behind it - it could just have been a donated bass for the exhibition that was signed. I guess though, that if you do the usual checks, and it seems fine - then ignore the history and offer what you think its worth, and go from there.

For Sale (or Trade..) My Yamaha BBN5. Ive dated the Serial Number back to 1986, so thats how old this bad girl is. It started off in life as a miserable black 5 string that at some stage or other got taken to bits, attached with a sticker (and screwdriver) and then put in a box in someones attic. Until one day.. I bought her in bits, looking a right sad state, and then did the following; Stripped the black paint off (my own cost) Filled and sanded and reshaped her (at my own cost) Painted her flame red with flame red paint flake (£35 for paint, £18 for flake) Cleaned and polished the tuners and ferrules (at my own cost) Replaced the bridge with a genuine Yamaha direct replacement (£35) New nut (£5) New pots and wiring (£10) New knobs (£30) Original pickups (meaty and growly) I was planning on getting a MOP scratchplate for it, but never got round to getting one made, but ill include a .dxf drawing of a pickguard for anyone that wants one. BAD POINT - the wood around the nut isnt great and the nut isnt glued in place - the bass is still playable (i play it most weekends) and its only a problem when you change the strings - a little bit of sandpaper and decent glue will be a permanent fix. So that without the cost of buying the bass is just over £120, not counting the time and effort taken to do all the work. Ill upload some better pictures of the actual bass tomorrow, but im looking for £150 for this bass, or a trade for another 5 string. In the mean time, there are some pictures of the Work In Progress.. Comes with fitted hardcase and strap. Thanks Mark

Im in a band called The Inspired. What inspires us? About 8 pints. We play rock and indie covers. I think that a band name should be memorable over naming a band after the genre of music you play. I wanted to call our band Substitute (a good name for a covers band IMHO) but we went with The Inspired.

Can you get me a gig there. f***ing annoying place! Heard so many good reviews about bands playing there, and everytime ive gone in ive been told to ring back, and whenever i ring, im told to go in - i go in at agreed times and theres nobody there to talk to!

Just to make things clear for all you lovely basschatters that have PM'd me, and anymore PM'ers - These are NOT NEW. They have been on at least one other bass to my memory, and were found in and amongst all my other spare bits and bobs. Ive stripped them down, given them a cracking clean, and they LOOK like new. Thanks! -
For the past few days I've been unable to get Joy Division's 'Digital' out of my head - hypnotic bass and vocals. I mentioned this to my wife and she suggested putting the song on when we got home - so I dug out my Joy Division Substance CD (the first CD I ever bought). Next thing I picked up my new Squier VM 70s Jazz and worked out the bassline, closely followed the line for Transmission. Lovely!
Mine was Alannis Morisette - You Oughta Know....on the exact same bass - lovely creatures. Alanis morisette and the FSR bass that is

Hi! Due to losing the ever reliable gig van, I've got to downsize my rig. Ive got a Trace Elliot AH 150 SMC head (carpet covered) and the matching 1153 15" Speaker Cab. Both in amazing condition, and sounds fantastic. One slight problem is that there is one of the screw cap things on the head missing (you know - the caps that hide the screws on the top of the head) Anyone looking for one of these should already know how good they are! Ill post some pictures up probably Sunday (gig tomorrow). Can be heard on live recordings on www.the-inspired.co.uk Im looking for £350 for this rig (including power/speaker leads etc) but that wont include postage. Im based just off Junction 22 of the M1, and whatever junction it is for Ashby De La Zouch on the M42. If you have a similar sized/priced combo for sale then i will happily do a trade! Thanks, Mark

So, as the title suggests... I have an AH150 SMC Trace Head (Carpet covered), and the matching 1153 15" Cab (again, carpet covered) All of the gear is in immaculate condition, all things considered - the only thing i can think of is that a screw cap cover is missing on the head, and there are some bash marks on the metal corners on the cab. We have lost use of our gig van so have to take all of our bands stuff in 3 cars, so im looking for a space saver really! Combo doesnt have to be Trace Elliot, but I value my stuff at between £250 - £350 (based on depreciation on my buying costs) so anything similar combo wise would be perfect - but not Ashdown. If i were to sell, I would take offers around £250. I am based in Coalville, Leicestershire - 5 mins from J22 of M1, or 10 mins from J11 (or 13 - cant remember!) of M42. Cheers Mark
