1. I'm very sorry to hear that too. I bought a bass from Ed and he was an absolutely top bloke. My condolences to his family.
2. Am I in the right place? :-) Sold LukeFRC a MM pickup, good communications, really fast payment, an all-round good experience. Recommended.
3. I sold pipsuds a jazz neck. Good communications, fast payment, very pleasant guy to deal with. Recommended.

Mr. Foxen

Just sold Oli a jazz control plate. Pleasant transaction, speedy payment, it's all good! Thanks Oli.
5. I bought Rich's Dean B2 last week. What a top chap - not only did he do me a really good deal, he very kindly gave me a lift to and from the station. And not only that, but he really does have a grey parrot! Excellent, many thanks Rich. I'm really pleased with the bass. To the rest of you, you missed out on a beauty.
6. The guy is a member on basschat, why don't you ask him?
7.
The 200,000 per year would most likely refer to the customers of The Bass Cellar, Hanks Guitars, Music Ground London, Music Ground Leeds, Music Ground Manchester, Regent Sounds, Rockers Guitars, Rhodes Music and Tin Pan Alley Drums. Hey, they're all part of the same company... It's almost the truth, and certainly sounds impressive... I'll take it! Can you lower the action a little before I take it away?
Hanks is part of this fiasco too? That's really sad, they seemed to me to be cut from different cloth.
8.
Sorted: take 1 for practices and both for gigs,
That'll sort the plan pots out nicely, but what do I do about the cabs? :-)
9. Hagstrom Futurama Coronado IV . Man I wish I still had that bass.
10.
...and done! The KSD lives! My mate is a bit of a mean swirler eh?
Your mate is guitarnutteruk and he is clearly a genius. There are only two people in the country who can do this kind of work to this quality, and the other has stopped doing it as a business. I think it looks fantastic. Any chance your mate could do a body for me?
11.
Think someone on here is selling a 5 string bartolini MM on the cheap so this is an ideal candidate for a pickup upgrade!
I think the string spacing is different - the OLP is 17mm whereas if the bartolini MM pickup is for a 'ray it will be 19mm. There is a Nordstrand replacement specifically for the OLP, which is supposed to be an excellent piece of gear. I traded my OLP before I got around to fitting the PU. Looks nice with a maple board . Good luck with the sale, it's an excellent price.
12. I can't imagine ever getting rid of a Celinder. Steve, whatever happened to that amazing red Valenti jazz that you got from richardd ?
13. I think waynepunkdude is out of order too. Please keep it civil. The way to deal with people begging to reserve basses for a week/mpnth is to ignore them unless they pay a deposit. I don't think the system is broken, and therefore it doesn't need fixing. You soon learn who the timewasters are.
14. Urgh. That brought back some unpleasant memories. Mine looked just like the one in the first picture, that the guy is holding. As for the Banana Splits, Fleagle was the bass player. Snorky the elephant thing was the keyboard player. Formative stuff!
15. Rule of thumb: Any second chance offer is a fraud, and so is anything involving Western Union. What more do you need to know?
16. It's all over the site already, but I owned one of the Vox teardrop basses, a Vox Wyman. It weighed several tons partly because of the chrome scratch plate, had a nice narrow neck but otherwise had few redeeming features. Sound was a rather characterless thud due to the pickups and short-scale neck. As an instrument to play it's the least favourite bass of all the basses I've owned in the last 35 years. No wonder Bill Wyman hated it and refused to play them. Wish I still had it though- immaculate examples were going through the bay for round about £1500 last time I looked, which is roughly 100 times more than I sold mine for in 1974. Mined ewe, 15 quid were a lot of money in 1974.
17. I'd much rather not have to post this if there's someone who can come and pick it up. Matthew Sanchez, please PM me if you're still interested and we'll work something out. I live on Martlesham Heath. It weighs 3.2 Kg so it'll cost about £12 to post allowing for packaging material. I'm not able to get to a post office during the week Here are some pictures. In the second picture you can see my first attempt at a template showing where the neck pickup rout should be and where I was going to put a MM pickup in the bridge position.
18. I saw Gary Karr play when I lived in Whitehaven, probably 20 years ago. What a fabulous player and thoroughly nice chap too.
19.
Too Much Too Young The Specials
I heard this on the radio in the car t'other day on the only set of decent speakers that I possess. What a fabulous bass line that is. Our list is written in html that's too difficult to disentangle, so here's a link. http://www.crossoverband.co.uk/id1.html We're currently working on 'Misery Business' by Paramore, which I love. Life is good.
