2. Title says it all really. A great little pub, with a really friendly landlord who desperately tries to support live music and local bands in these tough times. If you're in the area, come and support him, even if you hate us !!! 4. Don't forget to check the impedance of your amp and that of the cabs. 2 x 112 cabs will halve the impedance, so if it's 2 x 8ohm, your amp will need a 4ohm output but will push out more power than a single 8 ohm 212 cab
5. Jev bought my Ricky 4003 fretless He traveled up to Bristol from Reading at the agreed time, and paid the agreed price with no problems or hassles. A very nice bloke
6. Yet another power tooled loon goes nuts with a jigsaw http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Customized-P-bass-stick-fretless-Bass-Guitar-/300807096396?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item460980084c

Cheers Chris - it's a beautiful guitar, but I've just been seduced across to The Dark Side, thanks to Leo and his scrawny necked Jazzes I still hanker after my old 1977 4001 though - that was some bass!!!!

All sold - no more to see here
10. The LB212 is 4ohm and the VS212 is 8 ohm. I have an LB30 and LB212 and it's a brilliant combination
11. Quite a few rictus grins there. North Korea or China?
12. I'm sure Will-Cameltoe will update us with how it sounds, but his Compact is now sitting in his living room, as I saw it with my own eyes last night when I bought his LB212 off him
13. Picked up an Ashdown LB212 cab from Will today. He described it as 8/10 for condition - I would have described it as 9.5/10. Delighted with my purchase, and I look forward to letting rip with it
14. Just sold Steve my Dean Pace EUB. Nice, easy, transaction, and a decent bloke to deal with A good start to his career here on BC :-)
15. Cool - glad it's gone to a BC'er
16. Just back from our first gig since posting this. I split the monitors keys/drums and guitar/vox. They could then get them positioned much better - pointing at their heads - and have independent levels. The keys player said it was the first time he'd been able to hear his own singing!! FOH nice and clear. Everyone happy and mega brownie point to yours truly for sorting it out :-) Basschatters - you're the best. Many thanks
17. ..and I'm now heading in the right direction to get on the right track - thanks guys
18. Our desk does have 2 aux outputs, so perhaps splitting it between vox/guitar and keys/drums might be the answer. I also have a 'spare' GK150 combo which I could give them instead of the wedges, then they've got their own tone control
19. Up until now, my involvement with our band's PA has been to hump the thing around and connect the cables together. Now, our KB player and drummer are complaining about the monitors we use and how they can't hear anything. We have 4 Celestion wedges - 2 powered and 2 slaves, which are daisy chained from a single 1/4" monitor socket on the PA desk. They say they want a single big speaker to share. My question - does the monitor output from the desk need to be fed into a powered speaker i.e it's a low output that needs to be amplified, or could I plug it straight into a 115 bass cab that I have? Be gentle!!!
20. I'm sure someone may correct me, but as a private seller, you are not covered by the Distance Selling regulations, therefore it becomes 'caveat emptor' - buyer beware. You have no legal obligation to the buyer, and depending on how they paid, they could claim against their credit card, or through Paypal, but if it was a bank transfer or a cash sale, then there's no recourse, except the Small Claims Court (it may have now been rebranded) It then comes down to you as a seller as to whether it was a bit of a pup that you tried to get rid of, or it was 100% when you sent it and someone is trying it on. You have to decide whether some negative feedback on here is possible or acceptable, or fight fire with fire. Only you know what you sent out, so only you can really decide which way to play it

22. I agree - try it out with your band. The 'problem' with the LB30 is that with the standard valves from Ashdown - 2 x ECC83's and an 82 (or another 83 as was in mine), it goes into overdrive and distorts far too soon on the volume control, so you can't get it loud enough for a live band without it sounding like a chainsaw. The 81's calm things down so that you can crank up the volume and keep it sounding clean for much longer. You still get that lovely valve amp warmth, but it's now a gigging amp rather than a bedroom one.
23. I have an LB30 and play in a 5 piece rock covers band in small/medium pubs. It gets put through a pair of Ashdown MAG Deep 410 and 115 cabs and I have no problem at all in making my point known I did a lot of valve tweaking, following some good advice on here, in order to get the volume up without it distorting. I'm currently running 2 x Mullard ECC81's in the preamp, a Mullard ECC82 in the power stage and 4 x Sovtek EL84's in the output. The bass is in the High input socket and I can get the volume control to 2 o'clock before it starts breaking up. Even when our guitard is in full-on mode, I never need to take the volume past 12 o'clock. It has 30 of the biggest, loudest, lovliest watts I have ever heard. My Hartke 3500 stays in the car as the backup amp these days (or unless the landlord wants me to knock out the windows!!!)
24. Jazz/Precision? Only a real expert could tell them apart
