1. Due to a number of factors I decided to leave the band I was in a couple of months ago as it was just not fair on them as I was having quite a few logistics etc problems. They are a great bunch of guys and although I had only been with them six months we had become good friends and they were gutted. The new guy settled in well but we kept in touch and as fate would have it I have sorted out my logistic problems ( stopped all the weekend working etc ) and they have just emailed me and asked me would I consider going back as the new guy has decided to leave ! Still a few things to sort but we are rehearsing a week on Wednesday and I can't wait !! Feel to be in a better place mentally than I have for years at the moment so looking forward to helping them take it forward.
2. Time to get my old NAD 3020E out of the loft I think !!
3. 12 string bassist, you look a dead ringer for a young Don Powell, ever thought of taking up drums lol
4. A few years ago a band I was in called SOUL7 played our first gig together and we had gone down very well. As we were packing away an old guy came up to me and said "well you weren't as bad as I thought you were going to be" !! Praise indeed !!
5. Its a terrible loss to the live music community in West Yorkshire and beyond. Steve was a top guy and has helped numerous bands in their quest for live gigs etc and always looked for the positive in every review. He has been responsible for raising thousands for various charities. He will be sadly missed and the tribute concert ( his son has already indicated there will be one ) will need to be in a pretty big venue. RIP Steve
6. Brilliant news. I am currently in a work situation that has made me stop gigging but have a few irons in the fire to change this so watch this space !!
7. Went down a storm with a facebook request the day after for it to be a monthly feature !!!
8. Just need a couple more easy to play and recognise guys, any thoughts ?
9. I am going to play about twenty seconds on my bass of each giving them time to write the answers down then at the end play the original same bit through my ipod
10. Once a month we head off to the local cafe/bistro to the "Artists Hangout" that features local singers, poets, painters, etc and as its the first birthday party at the end of July the guy who runs it asked me to do something to cover a twenty minute slot and I have come up with the idea of a little bit of promotion for our favoured instrument. I am going run a little competition to guess the song and artist by playing about 20 popular song intros etc that feature bass I am thinking down the lines of Billie Jean, Another One Bites The Bust etc but need some more ideas guys Any thoughts ??
11. [sub]Saw them a few years ago and it was a cracking gig but I am going to see Limehouse Lizzy later this month which at £12 seems a comparable bargain !![/sub]
12. Guilty pleasure band for me Some excellent guitar riffs and sing a long choruses. Heard quite a few local bands covering some of the more rockier songs over the last few years and they still sound great.
13. Thats a real shame as I went to one of the Mott the Hoople reunion gigs a couple of years ago with one of my lifelong friends ( we sat Mott, Slade etc together in the 70's ) and we had a fantastic trip down memory lane together.
14. This thread has brought a lovely smile to an old ( ish ) mans face as Slade were ( and still are ) my first love for a band. As a teenager I was hooked from when they first appeared on top of the pops playing Coz I Luv You and saw them many times and still get that buzz when a song comes on the radio Jim was definitely my first bassist influence and I am really pleased reading the many compliments he is receiving from you guys. I have this wild ambition that I win the lottery and get enough money to tempt them back in to a re-union tour. I bet there would be a lot of eighties and nineties band members who have been influenced by Slade in the audience !!
15. Sorry, just noticed that the price looks a little hidden in the tag Looking for around £80 ish Sound competitive ??
16. Looking at moving on lots of things that I don't really use that much and this falls in to that category Very good condition ( pics to follow tonight ) and still in original box. Bought a few years ago from this very site but I seem to just plug and play now so rarely bother with anything other than a straight bass sound Tony NOTE Price drop to £60 as I think in hindsight £80 was a little ambitious Now living in Earby, Lancs but travel to Bradford daily
17. Looking increasingly like I will be moving in with my partner in the not too distant future and just wondered if there was a website catering for bands etc in the Colne and district area similar to the one I regularly frequent in Yorkshire ( rock of the north ) Just like to find out more about the local music scene etc if I am going to living out that way Many thanks Tony
18. My partner is just getting in to playing drums and we have started to play a few songs together that are relatively easy for her on drums and sound semi decent without guitar etc. Typical example would be Billie Jean and Black Velvet etc Any more ideas of what we could try ??
