Please keep this thread on track and play nicely, that way we won't have to lock it down.

Kitchen silver foil, nicely scrunched up and rubbed on the offending pieces works well.

I don't think that an adjustment being needed every few months is cause for concern. I would be more worried if it need adjustments, say, the following day.

The seller has fairly detailed his reasons for sale etc. So please post comments by pm only.

I've not read the whole thread, so apologies if this has been asked. Is the choking when fretted or playing open strings. Are all of the strings affected?

Nice one, well done for having a go and turning out a job that you are pleased with.

I saw the Chris Allsop fret crowning file and did wonder about that. I guess it would be a quicker job with one of these and more consistent. Do you use one of these yourself and how do you find it? My frets are 2.7mm medium jumbo so assume I'd need the 2.5mm file, would that be right?
I do use them myself and have a couple of different sizes. 2.5mm would probably be the best choice for you. He would, I'm sure advise you.
He is offering 10% off at the moment , so I ordered another diamond fret levelling file yesterday and it arrived this morning.

I would treat yourself to the proper thing from Chris Allsop

Pro Steels for me, had a new set on for last week's gig and I thoroughly enjoyed the growly zinginess.

I use fret erasers just about every day of the week and wouldn't want to be without them. I don't use them in isolation though, first off will be an emery board, then sandpaper: 240, 320, 400, 600 and 800. Then the fret erasers: coarse, medium, fine and super fine. Then metal polish and a buff up. Job done.

If they are really tight and assuming that you have the correct screw driver, try tightening them slightly. I know this sounds counter intuitive but it very often does the trick.

How far is Hoddesden from Cambridge @MrWriter, as our very own Gary Mac is there and he does great work. Anything I can’t do myself I take to Gary and he always sorts it for me.
Thanks for the recommendation @Lozz196, much appreciated. Think Mr Writer is going with the Bass Gallery.

Another G&L fan here.
That’s a nice looker.

Thanks Lozz.

Deoxit D5 is the one that I use most days. Sorts out the noisiest most crackly pots in no time.
Money well spent.

I use OnSong. There may be other apps that do the same, but I like the way I can just scan any document and import it straight into OnSong. Multi page documents are just as easy and you can turn a page just by tapping the screen (I use a Bluetooth pedal).
Recently I’ve been creating the documents electronically and importing them in, so need need for any printing. I used to like hard copies at home as backup’s, but I think I’m over that now 😀.
If you get OnSong, I’ll be happy to talk you through anything you get stuck on. Although you shouldn’t as it’s very easy.
The best thing is it’s all free. OnSong and the HP scan App both have free versions. There is a paid version of OnSong, but I’ve never needed it yet.
I was put off downloading the free one, as many of the reviews claimed that it is pretty much unuseable. I was planning on going for the version that requires payment. You may have saved me £30

Not tried it but On Song has been recommended to me.

Tc electronic bh250 woes.
in Repairs and Technical

When trying to repair a BH250 for a customer, I could get no help, schematics or advice from them. They have an approved repairer in Sheffield (name escapes me at the moment). What with courier fees, each way and a minimum charge to look at it, it wasn't cost effective to get it fixed.
