Struggling at the moment. Covid hit me hard about two weeks back. Still can't stand for more than a few minutes. Fortunately my band were able to get a dep to replace me for a couple of gigs last week.
Next gig is the 16th of this month, so I'm hoping to be fit enough for that but not overly confident

My GK head died mid gig at the weekend.
Any recommended repairers in Herts area please?

I had to collect my Spector from Mal Crawley in Stevenage today.
Arthritis in his hands has forced him to stop repairing Amps, etc.
I'd just like to send my thanks to Mal for the work he's done for me in the past.
Sad to hear that Mick.

Anything by Tom Petty.
Absolutely cracking songs by one of favourite artists, all guaranteed to clear a dance floor like a stink-bomb.
Yep, have experienced that
We thought Last Dance with Mary Jane would go down a storm.

Very sad. I dread looking at this thread.

Keep the good sound but when you get to wherever you’re playing add in more highs and some mids - high mids if possible. I’ve found that a slightly abrasive scratchy sound on stage translates really well into the audience.
Exactly what I do in the majority of pub venues.

Beeswax candle or just a regular wax candle?
Just a regular candle.

I keep an old candle on my work bench and just pull the screw thread through it.

Well done, you've made what looks like a great job of it.

Hello folks,
Can anyone recommend a guitar technician to service my MusicMan Bongo in London?
Preferably in NW London.
Thank you.
Perhaps someone private?
I'm not in London but if you are able to travel to Hoddesdon, Herts then drop me a message.

I installed a set of G&L U.S. MFD SB1 pick ups in my my P bass build. No additional routing required to body or pickguard, they dropped right in and give me the sound that I loved in my SB1 but in a lighter weight instrument.

Will do. It may be tomorrow or Friday before I can get some decent time to do so. Thanks.
No rush, whenever you're ready.

Thank you for the recommendation @Grangur
@sirmuppet pm me some close up photos of the frets if possible.

That is so awfully sad.

Even with a metal plate, I still prefer to also rely on a ground to the jack.

Are you lucky enough to live in a UK town that has a great live music scene? Large towns and cities excluded, where else is there that encourages local musicians to get involved?
For example, Hertford is pretty good with several live music venues for local musicians and bands of all abilities to perform as well as a couple of decent music festivals.
Hoddesdon, virtually next door to Hertford has a very lively scene, at least five pubs with bands every weekend.

I'm a fan of the NYXLs, well worth the cost, the set on my gigging bass have been on there for over a year and still sound fresh.
I've recommended them to a number of my bass playing customers, who all seem to love them.

One dead fret on one string

No, if it's a high fret then it will need either filing down or reseating, if it has lifted.
