2. That is beautiful. Amazing condition. With instruments I play I'm actually more of a fan of non-shiny aluminium. But that's just me. On the lacquered necks - I have one 'raw' Travis Bean (serial number 3XX) and one later Imron-coated one (no. 9XX). tbh the neck size and profile is so different between them that I never notice the difference in finish. Oh, someone buy my 450b that's in the For Sale section. I'll even throw in some Brasso ;-)
3. I'm in London and I bought a ticket yesterday :-(
4. An aluminium body without an aluminium neck seems like a waste...
5. Not at all! I just missed your posts. PM coming...
6.
Magic, also known as electrickery. Main important things: More knobs = better Louder colours = better tone Large pedal = Electroharmonix Small pedal = MXR As used by [insert famous guitarist] = expensive
You forgot 'brighter LED, preferably blue or white (or colour-changing!) = better'
7. I've owned DD-20, DL-4, Echo Park etc. And I've settled on the new ElectroHarmonix for now. Has all the modes, presets, etc. True Bypass, Tap Tempo, no hum etc. Solid as. I'm sure I'll change again in a couple of years when the next generation hits, but for now this ticks all the boxes (but I also have a dirty little analogue delay stashed away for special occasions). How long do you need this delay to be? I had a play with the new Behringer Vintage Delay - that's true analogue and sounds sweet. A friend with good taste also rates the new MXR designed by Mr. Way Huge (the Carbon Copy).
8. Right arm Plectrum Strings Pre-amp (the tronographic rusty box) Bass in that order.
9. There's a nice guide to the technology of basic pedal types at Geofex: http://www.geofex.com/fxtech.htm I learned a huge amount from there, even though I have no electronics background. And if you want a book, I believe 'Electronics Projects for Musicians' by Craig Anderton is as good a place to start as any.
10. I am glad that it has a happy new home. It's made space for the next project, arriving any minute now...
11.
Never ever played it. I'll ask the boys, I'm the new kid haha. I've been quoted £200 for a Rickenbacker shape provided I can provide the bits n bobs to go on the body. Anyone know of a butchered bolt on 4001 copy I can get my hands on as a doner?
I've got at least one spare 'faker bridge you can have a for a good price. Also a Seymour Duncan Rick-replacement bridge pickup I'm willing to let go cheap. Where are you getting a neck from?
12.
he hasn't made one yet, I'm enquiring about it though. can't see it being a problem since he's done a lot of different shapes
Pete Longfellow is a lovely chap. Check out the bass he made for me not long ago in the Bass Porn forum. You'll have a great time if he's making you a bass, and the final results really grab attention!
13. Gone to a very loving new home via eBay. I hope it has a long and happy life.
14. One and only price drop to £360 plus postage.
15.
does the sould provider work well for bass?? from the guitar sample i would say its unlikely, but since its tonefactor i dont know??
Here's Tayste's clip of it from the TalkBass wiki: http://www.grygrx.net/Pedal%20Reviews/Sinister%20Analog/Sinister%20Analog%20Soul%20Provider.mp3
16. A couple of things I've bought here, had some fun with, and now need to sell to fund more enjoyment elsewhere. Sinister Analog Soul Provider This is a hard pedal to describe. I use words like 'glitchy fuzz synth', 'octave craziness', and 'WTF?' It could do great things in the right hands. Comes with the original box. http://www.tonefactor.com/proddetail.php?prod=SoulPROvider http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZr1qbKJFTA £80 posted to the UK ZVEX Tremorama You can use it as a trem, but you can also use it to make seriously crazy patterns in your sound. Originally bought from Toasted of this very parish. Comes with original box, bag, hair tie etc, and home made powerplate (currently fitted, but you get the original base too). 17. Which bits would help? I can already tell you that I changed the pickups, and I have a spare Rick bridge around here somewhere that might go onto it next time I feel like working on it... Single truss rod btw. Refin is a good theory, as it has flaked off in a few places, including around the neck joint (where I am led to understand these things always 'move' a touch). And here's a pic from the previous owner with the original TRC and Schallers.
18. Not for sale but... This is my fake no 1 (no 2 is having some work done before it can appear here). This bass was originally badged 'CMI', but the previous owner scratched the TRC clear. I got our lovely friend the italian faker to make me a new one. This is a thru-neck fake, and presumably suffered from the 'cat can climb under the action' problem, so at some point someone has routed a hole to get the bridge lower, and then had to cut into the rear pickup surround so the atrings can run true. Lovely action now. It also came with a set of 4-a-side vintage Schaller tuners on (two mounted backwards!) so I've replaced them with better-looking things. This colour gets many, many comments.
19. I have my TU-2 at the end of the chain, so I don't need to worry about all the true-bypass fuzzes in front of it. It's also useful because it can kill a 'wall-of-noise' distortion dead at the end of a gig.
20.
I had this one and sold to a fellow Basschatter for £200. i was sorry after, it played ok but sounded a bit too bright. but then again it did have new strings on. and i did'nt even need the money.
This is my old one, isn't it? I can't believe you sold it either. One hell of a bass, that. Where do I put the pics of my Fakers, then?
