1. Ebay, google searches and the good old yellow pages. Isn't cheap though.
2. Bought a pair of Equinox Mega Bars and they're great. I had intended to use them with the supplied foot controller which would have been good and but my Ladies dad, an ex drummer offered to "do the lights". I found a Ryger controller which he uses to great effect and interfaces with the Mega Bar excellently. However, had I known that we had a 'lighting guy' available I would have gone down the LED par can with a separate controller route. Would have been a lot more versatile. The Equinox is a seriously good bit of kit if you want a bright stage with plenty of light changes and only have the band members to control the lights.
3. If they were the picks for me, I have to admit that I'd pay that as well. Our guitarist uses the plastic tags that come with heavy duty work gloves as picks. he says that they are perfect. I think he's just a tight git!
4. And I thought that 60p for a pick was expensive!
5. I always use Jim Dunlop 1mm nylon picks, the black ones. Try a few different picks though as the difference in sound from different manufacturers / materials is quite astonishing.
6. Pickup placement also plays a big part in the sound. Place them where Rickenbacker do and a bass will start to sound like a Rickenbacker.
7. You know more French words than me. I do know Citroen, Eiffel Tower, Renault and Paris though.

9. Had a Ric 4001, 72 Precision bought new, Overwater also bought new, guild Starfire 4, Shergold 4 - 12 twin neck new, EB3 and many more too numerous to mention but the love of my life is now Danelectro. Loved the sound since seeing Golden Earring live in 74 but getting a left handed one, well you know the rest. Now got a L/H long horn and a L/H DC bass. Bliss!!!
10. My left handed black one is for sale. It's in the 'basses for sale' section.
11. A previous guitarist had the head break off his flying V and I glued it back on for him. Never broke again, sounded and played just as before the break.
12. Hi all, Just had a PM from a very nice chap in Slovakia. I'm afraid that free postage only applies to the UK. If you would like it posted outside Britain you'll have to foot the postage bill.
13. What's Spey casting?
14. No speaker on a valve amp normally means burnt out output transformer very quickly. You're very lucky.
15. Loose dust cap on one or more of the speakers? Torn speaker?
16. Yes, it's the valve sound. SS/ Hybrid? From not at all to quite close. My opinion of course.
17. Bet there's no left handed version though, or if there is it will cost a fortune.
18. A lot of basses for sale all of a sudden!
19. I’ve got too many basses that I don’t play so some have got to go. LEFT HANDED 8 STRING P BASS My 8 string bass started life as a new Fender Squire P Bass Special and after an injection of a bit of woodwork, Schaller 8 string bridge, Schaller machine heads, Schaller strap locks and a set of Rotosound 8 string bass strings ended up like this. Nice to play and an immense sound. A couple of knocks but nothing serious and a new set of un-played Rotosounds just fitted. I’ll be sad to see it go but it doesn’t fit what I’m playing now. £250 and I’ll throw in the postage or you collect if you want. LEFT HANDED RETROVIBE RICKENBACKER I bought this a few months ago and only used it as a spare. It only got used once when the strap lock on my regular bass wore through, it had been on there a long time, so it’s only actually played 4 songs. It’s still in perfect condition although I have changes the strap buttons for Schaller strap locks. It plays very well and has a great sound. Looking at the Probass web site, http://www.probass.co.uk/Home.html, it would seem that are not going to be any more Retrovibes, especially left handed ones but you can hear sound clips and get all the details from them. Again, £250 and I’ll throw in the postage or you collect if you want.
20. It was hearing other bass players and guitarists using digital effects that made me aware of the problem long before I got digital effects. Being aware of the problems that others didn't seem to be aware that they had enabled me to find the solution. Strangely, the problem doesn't exist if you Di or mic through the P.A.
21. Out of the cozy house into the freezing cold boot. Out of the freezing cold boot into the over hot venue. Out of the even hotter venue into the freezing boot and out of the freezing boot into the cozy house. Only a thought.
22. I always find that digital effects don't carry at all, the sound just seems to appear in a bubble around the player and don't project anywhere. The answer I have found is to send the effected signal through an analogue effect, I use a graphic pedal, this seems to make the sound project again. "But then I'll have to switch on 2 effects at the same time," I hear you say. "Nay," say I. I use a bypass switch. I can preset the multi effects to the patch I want, switch on the graphic pedal and when the moment arrives for the effects just press the bypass switch and I'm away, Switch it again and I'm back to normal.
