1. To the top with you! Had some interest, but this bass deserves more!
2. What do you guys think of this? Tremelo on a stingray.....is that cool or gimmicky?! And how would it affect the tone? http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Music-Man-Stin...id=p3286.c0.m14
3. That is beautiful! Best of luck buddy
4. Now accepting cash offers, so go on - have a go! I'll be sad to see this go because the neck is brilliant, and the tones are great. But I've got others and I've got my eye on something else. . .
5. Cheers J! Yeah, it really is a cracking bass, and in great nick too!! I would be sad to see it go.
6. Hi all, Am currently liquidating bass equipment to fund a masters degree (check out my Fender Urge MK1 for sale - *shameless plug*!). As such, this has got to go. I bought it off ebay for £120, so how about £100 plus postage? It all works perfectly, but has a european plug attachment for reasons only known to the seller I bought it off. Will provide the necessary UK conversion plug. Comes with box and instructions. Heres a review I quickly googled: http://www.bgra.net/2004/review.php?id=74&type=effect I like this pedal because it has sliders for each parameter, rather than electronic figures or dials. Seems a bit more organic and clear to me, simply because you can see "shapes" or "patterns" of your synth sound (much like eq shapes on a bass amp). Parameters include clean sound, octave up, octave down and square wave levels, which can all be mixed together at individual levels, generating a huge amount of effect possibilities. Or simply used for one voice, such as using the pedal for purely an octave stompbox. The combined output of these parameters can then be adjusted using a further 5 sliders: resonance, start freq, stop freq, rate and trigger. Heres an EH vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQGT19BrPZ4 Talk about having fun with an analogue synth! Feel free to pop round and give it a go, I'm based in Windsor at the moment. Cheers!
7. I'm afraid to say that Eric the Wonder Dog is knackered!
8. SOLD! Cheers all. Hi all, Putting this back up for sale on the back of the recent Stu Hamm tour. Open to offers/trades/part exchanges. Trade-wise, I'd be interested in anything with a 32" scale or shorter, graphite or wood. This includes any of the cheaper Mexican standard urges out there too! The bass is in top nick, not a single dent or dink to be found on it anywhere apart from a slight burnished look on the rear Fender neck plate. Its a USA 32" model, with the Pau Ferro neck and 4-way selector switch controlling a JPJ setup. The 4 way rotary controls passive, active, active with midboost and standby modes. The three-position switch enables all pups, just P and just J's. The other two concentric pots are volume//pan between the two J pups and treble cut/boost//bass cut/boost. Consequently this bass is very flexible!! Combining active and passive modes with the variations in pickups gives great variation, think passive jazz to passive precision thumper, to the cut of an active jazz/precision. Needless to say its a virtuoso's bass that can cope with Stu's ecclecting playing (slapping/tapping monster to RoCk BeAsT!!). So I'm sure someone out there can give it a better home than me. I love the neck on this thing. Slapping is a joy, and tapping really rings out the notes without sounding harsh or trebly. Its a very responsive bass. It also has fitted a hipshot drop D-tuner, which allowed me to *attempt* some of Stu Hamms pieces he played with his Kubicki X-Factor. With regards to the pictures below, the finish is actually a black SPARKLE or flake, with a white pearloid scratchplate and gold hardware. My pants phone camera gives the impressions of gloss black, but its really a subtle sparkle. These things tend to hold there value, and don't often come up for sale. I believe there was a "burgandy mist" mk1 that went for £950 on here last year
9. Nice one lads, muchos gracias
10. Hi all, I'm off down to Exeter Uni next week to start my masters course (AAAAGH, yet another year in education!!). This is a completely new neck of the woods for me and was wondering if any of you South Westerly lads could recommend a local techy/luthier for repairs and/or custom work? Cheers guys, B
11. BUMP!!! Top basses these, don't be put off by the MIM at all. if I had anything to trade I would jump all over it! Can't believe its still around! Best of luck mate
12. HUMPTY BUMP for an absolutely kick-ass cab. I played this the other day, oh boy! Being EV-loaded makes it to die for. Bid with confidence too
13. YO! God help me I'm moving down to Exeter Uni in October for a 1 year masters course. This means I've had to leave my hip hop/funk/indie band in oxford. However, playing bass is simply my most favourite thing to do, and I desperately need some peeps to play with down south next year or my fingers and thumb may well fall off. I'm a 22 year old guy prone to mild eccentricity and spontaneous jamming. I've had loads of experience in many, many genres and I've loved them all. Lots of studio experience too, and well over 200 gigs in the pocket to date (ranging from EPIC to shocking!). Always up for a laugh, but still serious about my music. Have got all my own gear and transport, just desperate to play! Ideally looking to complement ANY kind of music with some funk rock bass, but I'm versatile Get in touch ya hear?! Bert
14. These things are great! I love mine, sounds great. And this price is an absolute steal! Have a bump mate!
15. Top man!! If any of those 57 basses are put up for sale (heaven forbid) consider them bumped! I'll have a crack sometime this week Cheers again!
16. Hi all, Need to re-string my kubicki x-factor for the first time after some extensive studio work. Just eye-ing up the unique bridge and was wondering if anybody out there has some tips for stringing up this particular bass? Any experience with string types also welcomed! Ta B
17. Hey mate, looks like an ace piece of kit. Any ideas on a price? Scrap that! We're all editing at the same time!
18. Cracking bass sir! Gets the slapping thumbs up! I own a white one of these, and I would just like to add that whilst these basses go from an ideal slap/tap setup/sound, they also have the most beautiful warm end to them when you need it. A truly versatile, quality instrument. I would love to buy this and take the frets out, a la Stu Hamm on his "Outbound" record and have it along side my white one. Best of luck with the sale, can't recommend these enough B
19. I have tiny hobbit hands! And I play a Mexican Fender Urge I MIM. The scale is 32" but most importantly it has a such a slim neck that I get my whole hand round it with ease, so much so that I'm quite happy fretting the E string with the thumb of my left hand. Plus, this thing weighs absolutely nothing, yet has a really good wide-ranging sound. Its so easy to play, I must be cheating! One was on ebay last week, went for under £250 I think. Can't recommend them enough. Alternatively, I'd always like a Fender Mustang. Best of luck mate Forgot to mention, the Urge also has the benefit of looking like a proper fender bass, and has the full 24 frets despite such a scale length of 32"
20. Thanks mate, thats been really helpfull. The Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer looks like the badger's nadgers on their website. I'll def give that some thought. The guitarist in the band is currently using a freq-box, so I'll run my bass through that later this week. Lemme know how the pulsesynth works out for ya, money is no object is I can get that monosynth sound going on! Cheers again B
21. Howdy all, I'm looking for something close to the following phat synth bass sound out of a single/series of pedals (i.e. not rack): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqxnm6t3QMw The appropriate pedals I currently have are the Akai Deep Impact, Woolly Mammoth and EBS Multicomp. Am I on the right lines here? Any ideas? Definitely up for buying any gear that would help me get closer to this bass sound, so open to all suggestions! Anyone out there reckon they've got this sound down? Gotta love that track/band! Cheers everyone B
22. PM'd RE Red Onions A/B
23. Love that sterling, and that rig! I especially enjoy the unique LED on the warwick......on the 6th fret too!
24. Hail to the King baby!! Simply stunning. Damn the slings and arrows of outrageous financial misfortune at present! Do you have a personal favourite?
25. Hi mate, my Urge II doesn't buzz/hum, but the Precison pup doesn't work. Consequently I haven't played it in a while (too skint/busy to have a look whats wrong with it). Any luck so far? I'm sure Ive read something about this online, I'll try and find it 2moz. Any luck when switching the 5 way selector around? I also have a kubicki exfactor, and a modded mex Urge I. Cracking basses! Never realised I was such a Stu Hamm fan until I wrote that sentence, I seem to have his entire back catalogue building up here!! Would love to grab a piccolo and fretless kubicki as heard on the Outbound record! Ayway, I ramble on. Good Luck!
