**** NOW SOLD **** For sale is my beautiful 2013 Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray SR4 3EQ Fretless with Pau Ferro fretboard. These basses need no introduction and are getting harder to find. Apart from one tiny knock as seen in the picture, the bass is in mint condition with no marks or grooves on the fretboard or buckle rash on the back. Just recently set up by The Bass Gallery, it is strung with a set of Rotosound Swing 66 Nickel rounds which is my favourite strings for all of my fretless basses. Plays and sounds amazing as expected and comes complete with the original hard case. I am based in Camberley in Surrey and any trial welcome. As for trades, I would be happy with one of the following, Fender American Vintage II 1954 Precision - Sunburst or Blonde Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazz - Sunburst or White Fender American Vintage II 1960 Precision - Sunburst Fender Tony Franklin Fretless Precision Thank you for looking.

EBS actually recommends using a Laptop bag on their website. The Reidmar 752 got your back The amp fits nicely in a laptop bag, and the lightweight saves your back when traveling with your Reidmar 752. Out of interest, how you you find the Reidmar 752? It's a head that I'm considering getting to replace my MarkBass LM IV. Love my LM IV but also love EBS stuff.

Thank you, I'll give this go and see how it sounds. The Mooer Reverb has now gone as the Slo Reverb is a much better unit but at the moment, the Slo is being used purely as a reverb unit. It's new so I'm still working it out so it might be used for some ambient swells a little later on but I think mostly for reverb. The Zoom is used to create those ambient swells using reverb and auto volume delay so a lot more of an effect.

Reverb with a fretless is incredible, for me an absolute must. I actually had two on my board at one point. If you want to try and good fun, but cheap one, then I can really recommend the Mooer A7 Ambient one.

This is my current setup for my fretless. 1. Boss OC-5 Octave: Tried quite a few Octave pedals and nothing has beaten it for tracking and tone. A wonderful pedal. 2. Zoom MS-60B: Has been hacked and is used for ambient effects using some delays and reverbs to mimic a cello and orchestral sounds. 3. EBS UniChorus: Been through a lot of chorus pedals but after seeing @Dood review, it seemed to be just what I was after and it is. Amazing Chorus pedal. 4. Walrus Audio Slo: my main reverb and used for some ambient effects as well. 5. Ampeg Opto Compressor: Sounds great and just sprinkles lots of magic goodness on my tone. 6. Sansamp BDDI v2: Absolutely brilliant, I wished I'd got one sooner. I wish I could mount my power supply under my Pedaltrain Metro 16 but it's too tall. If I could then I'd also have my TC Electronic Spark Booster and maybe a Phaser pedal or EBS Envelope Filter as well.

I'm just after a little bit of advise or the order I should have my pedal's on my pedalboard. At the moment, I current have the following, Bass OC5 Octave (Used on and off to add thickness and for effect) Zoom MS-60B (Used on and off to add some ambient sounds) EBS UniChorus (Used on and off to add some chorus and used in conjunction with the Zoom MS-60B) Walrus Audio Slo Reverb (Used on and off to add some ambient sounds and used in conjunction with the EBS UniChorus) Mooer A7 Ambient Reverb (On most of the time to add some reverb) Ampeg Opti Compressor (On all of the time) Sansamp BDDI (On all of the time) Amp I'm just wondering if the Mooer A7 Reverb which is on pretty much on all the time should be first in the chain before the pedals that are turned on or off or it should be where it is after those pedals?

To the OP, I think you are thinking about it too much and over processing it which is in some ways putting too much pressure on yourself to come up with something new. Your head is not clear as you are thinking you need to write something new. If there's nothing there then there's nothing there. I suggest, walk away from it for a bit, lose yourself in other activities be it travelling, reading, house stuff or focus on something else and just keep absorbing the music you hear in your day to day existence. At some point, inspiration will hit and you'll start coming up with song ideas and you'll be back on track. You just need to wait for that trigger moment. Its not uncommon for this to happen to a lot of musicians, songwriters and those who are creative.

Very surprised theres been no mention of any EBS amps.

Not sure if these are the best but it's the ones I've been the happiest with and have lasted. Hartke HA7000 - super powerful, punchy with the option to run tube, solid state or blend both. Can be super clean or dirty. If they didn't weight a tonne or were so big, I'd still use one now. I wish there was a modern day version. Ampeg PF500 - Just a great sounding amp and very musical. Doesn't seem to be thin or clinical or run out of puff like a lot of class D amps. Long on the tooth now and heavy for a class D amp. Warwick Gnome Ipro 280w - just an absolutely brilliant little amp. Way louder than you would think, tiny, super punchy and cheap as chips. I've used mine many times as my main amp.
-
That sounds great, please keep me posted on how you get on with it.

This is exactly what I've been doing. I have an MS-60B and updated the firmware to include the sounds from the 50 and 70 to create to nice ambient patches. Now I kind of know what I'm after, I'm going use the Zoom for a few patches, my Mooer Ambient A7 for a few other things but mainly the basic reverb and then get something like the Cloudburst or Slo as another dedicated ambient effects pedal.
-
More ambient sort of sounds, pads, long sustain notes, that sort of thing. Nothing weird of whacky but ambient, soundscape sort of effects where you might hit a single note or the last note of the song and it does a nice ambient swell etc.
-
So it looks like I'm now moving away from the Cloudburst and heading towards the Walrus Slo which looks amazing. The EQD Avalanche Run also looks like a great pedal.
-
Excellent, thank you very much. I'll head on over to the dark side and have a read

Has anyone got or used a Strymon Cloudburst? I love my reverb and ambient effects and just wondering if anyone here has used one and what their thoughts are on it with bass.

That's great news, it's a cracking little mini rig, I'm super happy with mine and the Gnome punches well above its weight.

Not two choruses but two delays and I think a reverb. I updated the firmware to the MS-50 as Luke suggested above to allow for more blocks but it won't let me add a line selector as it says the DSP is full. -
What's the bass/instrument you have had longest?

This, it's a ESP 400 series Jazz bass from 1986 which I have owned for 37 years. My dad bought it brand new for me in 1987 and it has done thousands of gigs. It was made in the same factory as the Japanese Fender's so all the Fender parts are interchangeable. It was originally fretted but it had Barts fitted in about 1988 and then Jon Shuker made a fretless neck for it around 2012. It is the best bass I have ever owned and my main player and sounds amazing. It is however super beaten up these days but still plays like a dream. -

Can anyone help with a small issue I'm finding. I've been playing around with my MS-60B today and I've created a few patches but when I press the foot switch to turn the effect off, it's still present. So if I've got a chorus on and the red light is on, I press the foot switch, the red light goes out but the chorus is still on. Am I doing something wrong? Update: I've worked it out, sort off. If the patch has 3 effects, I can add a line select to turn it on and off. However, one of the patches has 4 effects so I cant add a line select. Any way to work around this? -
To me Americana was always those singer songwriters singing about themes that American's can relate to, usually with a bit of a political slant so artists such as John Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Ry Cooder etc.

Last nights gig for me was absolutely amazing. It was a sort of open night in a beautiful venue called The Mill in Elstead. Backline is provided and 5 bands played, each getting about 25 minutes each. The sound is amazing and it's super intimate with a really appreciative audience of music lovers and musicians. We play very stripped back, heartfelt singer songwriter stuff with lyrics personal to the singer. I'm on fretless creating some ambience and our drummer is very chilled and percussive. The first song is very atmospheric and as soon as I started playing, our singer said the two young girls sitting in front me who were about 16, their jaw's hit the floor. They'd never heard fretless and I had reverb and chorus and apparently they couldn't take their eyes off my playing. Mid way through the song, I get a sort of instrumental lead part and as soon as I go into it, the lady at the table whoops and shouts out, 'woah, go the bass player'. When I finish my little piece, the whole place applauds 😮 I've never had that and it was very much like what happens at a Jazz gig. Anyway, we play a blinder and we even had some of the audience in tears by how the singer had captured them with his lyrics. We get to the last song and we are improvising massively and our singer got the who room singing followed by a standing ovation 😁 Afterwards, we got a tonne of compliments and it turns out the lady who shouted 'go bass player' used to be a singer back in her day and one of the two girls was her daughter who is a singer songwriter. Her husband was also there and after chatting to him, it turns out he's a Jazz trumpeter 😎 What a amazing night and just makes it all worthwhile 😁
