1. Line6 G50 here, used with five string basses with no loss of signal/tone. The thing that surprised me was the cable simulator thing, it really works! Battery life, I seem to get around three gigs worth out of it (about nine hours if last Friday is anything to go by) but agree that the indication is good so you dont get caught out as long as you change them once the indicator drops to two bars.
2. So Mr Hunt, if I was to wander into the Fat Ox on Friday night, would I hear the Bolin in action?
3. My dear old Mum says that I'm the best
4.
Glad I used the BFB Compact... anything heavy would have been a nightmare.
I'm surprised that after standing behind that line-up that your Compact didn't become a Big One Mind you, i dont think it was very nice them making you stand on a box all night. We're you on the naughty step or something?
5. Depends on the band. One guitarist, double the guitar part, two guitarists pedal that A like Chris Boardman
6. Here's my band from a 'dress rehearsal' earlier this year just prior to the first gig with the current line-up The Dirty South And if you liked that we streamed the whole second set from a recent rehearsal (without the hats and shades ) live on the internet. The Dirty South rehearsal And just to send you completely to sleep, here's a bit of footage shot by our lighting guy at a recent gig We ended up at the Grand Hotel, the place was empty cold and dank And finally the reason why you should always check the location of the smoke machine before setting your gear up Smokin' baby!
7.
I've heard JPJ's band do this song and they do a fine rendition other than far too slow... oh and too quiet! I am of course leaving myself 'wide-open' for when he get to come and see my band do a similar set to his.
Now your just being kind! The words "slow" and "quiet" are not normally associated with the Dirty South Might have to have a trip down to the 'Ox to check you boys out
8. Got to be the Slade on hasn't it. Mind you when I did a stint with a cabaret band (i know I know, the shame of it ) I was sick of playing it by the end of the Christmas party season in January BTW, why do people have Christmas party nights in January?
9.
I'm sure JPJ's band do it spot on, though.
Haha but sadly no! We do our own version, completely unrehearsed because the two guitarists hate the song with a vengeance. Normally by the time we play it (first encore) nobody in the room is too bothered as the alcohol is taking it's full effect so no complaints so far BTW try playing it at a bike rally, we did SHA straight after the Sons of Anarchy theme and the True Blood theme, I thought the tent was going to implode with the amount of pissed up bikers dancing and singing along
10. Like it or loathe it, punters love it. I play in a southern rock tribute band and if we didn't include this in the set, then i think there'd be a good ol' fashioned lynching
11.
Yeah I know what you are saying and I agree that the price might be unaccessible to some, but I am always moving a lot of gear and I have got a nice float of savings, certaing things might be expensive but if you can afford it they are worth it. For example the cab comes with a high quality speaker, http://professional.celestion.com/bass/pdf/BL15-400X8.pdf best money can buy for the amp, all the valves settings are ceramic, so none of the cheap plastic you get with Mesa or other expensive brands, the components are all first class, everything is hand made and I have seen it with my own eyes at the factory, so in a way you pay for quality and this amp has the lot.
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm at that fortunate stage of life to be able to afford one of these if I wanted to, a statement which probably sounds vulgar in today's economic climate. My point is that premium components or not, it's a lot of money for a 30w combo which is going to be of limited practical use other than recording or quiet practice. For me, who would only be able to use this for home practice, I guess it's going to be the Little B'stard and my Schroeder cab
12. Line 6 LD300 This is the amp that changed my opinion of 1x15 combo's. Ok some of the modelling settings are a bit too processed for me but you can get a really decent sound out of it, and it's loud enough to gig (I know because I used the same amp at a 'back line provided" charity gig).
13. Looks lovely but £1200!!!! A little bastard head is £399 so that's a lot of money for the 1x15 cabinet. I really fancied one of these when I first heard about them but at that price for a 30 watter rules me out I'm afraid.
14. A thing of great beauty. And it looks like it will be nice and light, but well balanced due to the extended top horn. Now if this was finished in a high gloss translucent green then........
15. Camera phone shot of my rig from stage left! SWR SM1500 + 2xGoliath 410's The reason I'm struggling with a bad back today!
16.
With the paint a clear coats confidently cured I got to polishing today. It's very hard to show just how highly polished I got it (the flash kills it) so I took some grainy flash-less pics...
A little trick I use on yacht paint jobs is to hold a wooden or plastic ruler end on against the painted surface in natural daylight and read off the reflection in the paint. Best I've seen on a yacht is 110mm before the reflection started to loose distinction. It's not a gloss reading (good gloss meters are bloody expensive!) but it gives a good indication as to the quality of the finish.

SOLD

Is this the 240w or 350w version.

19. I bought a pair of their Eurolive powered SRM450 clones for rehearsal. They were bloody good for what I paid and the band I bought them for still use them as foh coupled with a Behringer powered bin. For anybody starting out either with foh or back line, the behringer stuff is a good low cost option. Sure, it isn't going to perform like Mackie Db Ampeg etc but it is a fraction of the price. Reliability can be an issue, but this can also be an issue on far more expensive kit. If your looking for low cost starter gear you'd be mad not to try it.
20.
If you're looking at this, I presume you know what it is. 1200W cab, very light, sounds lovely. I have 3 Schroeder cabs (this one and 2 x 1212Ls) and after plenty of faffing I've decided on the 1212Ls in stereo, so I no longer have any need for the 410L. I bought it new direct from SHX Music. It has the Rhino covering, has has some superficial scratches (though there is a noticeable one across the grille), but works perfectly. It's about a year old (at most) and has been gigged once or twice with my Ampeg SVT-4 Pro head. £550 http://www.schroedercabinets.com/410.htm I'm based in Blackpool, would prefer pick up, but I can deliver for the cost of my diesel if needs be (about 25p a mile - anywhere in the NW really - I may not be able to deliver further afield!). I've never sent anything via courier before, so I'm not sure how much that would cost.
Is this the 4 or 8 ohm version?
21. I find that only active basses with 18v preamps need the built in pad on the active input. All my 9v actives run better through the passive input IMHO. That said, I tend to leave the eq on the bass fairly flat and use little tweaks to compensate for room dynamics etc. This might not be the case if you whack everything on full on the bass.
22.
Can you send me more details please!
Is this the Sleeze Sisters gig?
23. I'm fascinated by threads like this one. Main stream equipment suppliers seem to ignore Hoffman's Iron Law and I'm guessing that both my cabinet setups must be hugely compromised in order to produce what I consider to be a very musical sound. Recent point in fact, a band I dep with occassionally use a Mackie PA rig. They normally use the 1802 (2x18 powered bin) for the bottom end but have recently bought a Thump bass bin (1x18). Now whereas the 2x18 bin is an awkward 2 man lift, the Thump can be carried by one person and is only slightly larger than the 18" driver. Ok, it doesnt kick the bass out like the 2x18, but it does add a lovely warm tone to the rig, is bloody loud to my ears, and is ideal in smaller 'pub' type venues. Am I right in assuming that the Thump is compromised and is making up for it with sheer power (1000w 'rating')?
