1. Just curious but if it's a class D amp, why is it the size of a suitacse ?
2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
3.
Have you used an RH450?
Have you ever tried a Harley Benton ?
4. Cheap as chips but strangely impressive stats... http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_ba500h.htm 500W RMS into 4 ohms for £206 ! That's way more watts than a TC Electronic RH450
5. Where abouts in Stockton are you ? I work in Thornaby, so just round the corner.
6. A Satellite P-Bass !! Anyone know anything about them at all ?? Found this one at an auction for £20.... no I didn't buy it.
7.
Watch out for the mice......:-)
Tell me about it ! Luckily our singer works for Rentokil so I'm mousetrapped up to the eyeballs. By the way, if any of you Yorkshire chaps are interested the band I play in are at The Crown & Anchor in Sowerby on Sat Oct 22nd. Be good to talk bass bollocks
8. Right, some technical bod... please explain this. I have a few basses but none seem to produce as much audible volume as my Cort Funkmachine. I play through a Markbass SA450 and two David Eden 2x10s and if I plug in say my Musicman SUB then I have to push the amp so much harder to get the same kinda volume. I do of course trim the input stage to match the output of the basses. I only have to run the amp at a quarter volume for the volume to be ear splitting with the Cort yet with any other bass I have to push the bollocks out of it to get the same volume. Baffles me. Surely if the input stage is set up properly then the volume from the power stage should be exactly the same, no matter what bass is plugged in ?? Bizarre !!
9. Greetings from Kilburn, just outside of Thirsk.... another North Yorkshire rural backwater )
10. sorry,,,, there's no punchline Apart from that crazy wah circuit, they look identical, same bartolini pickups and preamp (I think)... Some nice wood examples of A4's around on ebay at the moment.
11. Recently upgraded to a rather expensive Nordstrand / John East setup, so this is surplus to requirements. I'll include the battery clip that I didn't need too. Just so you know, I am including the chrome plate (although you will need a few little screws for it). First person to offer me £150 gets it... I'll post it for free. Ta chaps.
12.
Where did you find the review? They don't put a wiring diagram in the box, as they assume you're directly replacing a MM pickup.Frustratingly they won't even supply such a thing when asked - handy for the projecteer, NOT!
http://www.bassfrontiersmag.com/nordstrand-mm4-2-pickups Here you go... if you click on the pictures, one of them's the wiring instructions. I've wired mine in both series and parallel just to see the difference and series has way more bottom end but less highs. Quite boomy in fact. Parallel is far more focused in the mid-range, with extra highs for good measure.
13.
what bass did you fit the Nordy to? might be getting this pup myself!
Fitted to a Sub4. Totally eradicated the weak G string problem and the John East preamp is great to really taylor the tone properly. £300 well spent
14. It's ok folks... sorted. I was missing the wiring diagram out of the box but managed to find a review of the MM4.2 pickup with anice pic of the wiring setup. Phew... panic over !
15. Took out the old pickup, easy enough, two wires white and black. The new one has 5 wires, white, black, red, green and one with no sheath. I'm assuming this is so I could wire it either series or parallel. So what do I connect to what ? I've connected green and red together, white into where the white was previously and the black/unsheathed into the previous black. So is this ok ?? Have I done it series or parallel...? Sounds pretty meaty at the moment !!
16. Was considering getting a couple of RS212 cabs and wanted to stack them end on end. Thing is the cabs themselves look quite narrow and I have visions of them toppling over if given a bit of a knock. I've got my amp, compressor and tuner in a rack mount that I was planning on sitting on top so this may well make it quite top heavy. Do they cabs lock into to each other properly or do they simply sit on top of each other ? Ta folks.
17. I thought the bass sounded a bit rubbish to be honest, but this clip... yowzer !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptE5GpgL7AE...feature=related
18. Any good ? Worth it ? Is the front face flatter than the Musicman neck ? I know the Status basses I've played before had completely flat neck profiles. Any difference in tone consistency or sound ? Ta chaps....
19. Obviously I'm the only person that thinks it's hideous. WTF is going on with that white pickup ?????? Weird. Nice maple though.... I'll grant you.
20. Just bought a 3 knob, 3eq John East preamp to fit into a Musicman Sub4. Strangely though the holes for the screws don't match up. I'm not bothered in the slightest, just drill some new ones. Just wondered whether Musicman bass plates had differed in sizes over the years or whether the SUBs were different from Stingrays ??
21. When I think of all the songs I liked as a child, they all had big basslines. I remember being about 13ish and hearing Two Tribes by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Massive bassline which grabbed you instantly whether you liked it or not ! After that, saw Level 42 on TOTP with a lovely pink JD bass and though "I gotta get me one of those". Strangely didn't get my first bass until I was 19 about 4 years later. So for me, subconciously I've always been a bass player.... just took a while to realise it.
22.
I beg to differ.
In the words of Jimmy Nail..... "She's lying" Why are all bongos on sale black ones ? Where's all the nice dargle green, orange and red ones ??
