1. If you wanna see a really f**ked up way of playing left-hand-slap-upside-down-bass then this is mind boggling ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLyV5JLvxM0
2. Me too, cracking amp. The only thing I'd change it for would be an SD800.... but that would be greedy.
3.
You missed a 2x8 Delta Bass Combo and matching extension cab on eBay recently. That would have made a great rig for around £200.
I did see it, but I'm moving house and frankly I'm being sensible. That was exactly what reminded me about them.
4. Remember seeing these in my local music shop around 1990ish. Always thought they were fab but being a skint student at the time never got round to buying one. You never even see them on ebay these days... rare as rocking horse sh*t. Cracking gear though !
5.
Hi. how much would it cost to post this lot? Cheers Matt
Where are we talking ?
6. Right folks, moving house.... the clearout begins !! I've got this Ashdown MAG250 1x15 combo. It's been given a right good knock on the top of it which resulted in a big dent in the top of the wood. I've had to cut out the hole and hoover out all the bits of broken chipboard that were sitting around inside the amp. It works perfectly well... it just has a big hole in it. Obviously I'd suggest getting something like a small steel plate screwed on top of the hole so you don't electrocute someone !! I'm in Stockton on Tees, but travel up and down the M1 to Sheffield quite often... so if you're on the way I can drop it off. Also I've got this 2x10 Mag extension cabinet, paid £80 for it about a year ago... so you're basically getting the amp for £70. Like I say everything works fine. Here's the pics.... Cheers Faron
7. Just wanted some opionions on how viable it is to thin the width of a bolt on neck. I'm talking about talking 3-4mm off the top and bottom edges and moving the strings closer together. Obviously I'd be changing the bridge as well and maybe the nut too. Any advice and expert opinions welcome ! Cheers Faron
8. Here fishy fishy fishy
9. Sod the bass shops.... just make sure you wear one of these bonny lad !!
10. Yeah, it's a cracking piece of kit. It's a bit of a shame that a lot of Behringer stuff lately is total rubbish... like their bass amps and cabs This is an older model, when Behringer stuff was the dogs bollocks !!
11. Hello there ! I do believe the cab was my old one that I traded in part-ex for that lovely Vigier Passion ! Cracking cab, £300 good price too !
12. One Behringer Composer rackmount compressor, excellent condition, just a teeny bit of 'rack-rash'. Perfect working order, looking for £40. Cheers Faron
13.
Hi Faron , would you consider a trade ??? I have a rather nice Fretless Alembic Epic ( it is up for sale at £900 at bass gallery ). Hows things up in there ..... I am originally from Guisborough , now living Herts . I remember playing at the Cargo fleet social club every Saturday night ........ COR those where the days . cheers Don
Played Cargo Fleet many times.... all miserable, ha ha. I think our drummer's lass fell down that metal staircase once n all. Anyway, no trades, just flog I'm afraid
14. Do Sterlings suffer from the 'weak G string' like Stingrays ??
15. Any good ? The youtube demo sounded pretty decent.
16. Got an SA450 myself and the only thing I'd swap it for is an SD800 or 1200. I know what you mean about the markbass cabs though, I thought mine were rubbish, no top end on them at all and if you like a bit of 'zing' forget it. Currently using a couple of Eden D210XLTs and it's never sounded better.
17.
Actually, you are a slap hound aren't you? Defo EBS.
I do like a bit of a slap and pop but 99% of the stuff I play live doesn't use that so it's purely 'even out the sound' thing.
18. Torn between the DBX 266XL or a Samson S COM. Anyone tried the samson? it's only £89 n all !! http://www.bandland.co.uk/catalog/samson-c...370255ccbeaac2c I'll probably get the DBX like.
19.
Hiya, thanks! Here's the link for anyone else interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfha46FzZ6E 1:40 with the bridge pickup only and funk switch on - nice sound! If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the bass, you can PM me if you prefer.
Bought on ebay for £280, there's a few weird variations on the funkmachine around nowadays. Seen the odd silver one and also a one like mine that doesn't have the TM Stevens logo on the front. I will say however that the settings for the funk switch are really really sensitive...a couple of grub screw thingies on the back. Seriously it's taken me a couple of years to get it right !
20. I've got one... in fact I did a demo of it on youtube.... just type in funkmachine demo or something. Nice bass, decent tone, lovely flat fingerboard and neck shape.
21. Is it me or is this way over priced ? You could probably get a secondhand SA450 for say £500 ??... and the 6x10 maybe another £600. Cracking amp though, the only thing I'd get rid of mine for would be a SD800 or SD1200.
22. Seriously, I'd wouldn't consider buying anything until you think about what you like and dislike in a bass. It's a hell of a lot of money to part with, if you're left with an instrument that doesn't suit you or is poorly thought out you'll be kicking yourself. Do some research. Find out what sounds like what, not just in your practice room but when your out gigging too. I've had some fab 'bedroom' basses that were appalling when played live. I've been playing since I was 19 and it's only now at 36 I've started considering getting a custom bass, just purely because I know what neck shape I like, what pickups I like, what types of wood I like. It's a very long slow learning curve, honestly.
