Well I got a fair few offers this weekend but still, im keeping it now I think. I lowerd the pickup and its enjoyable now, and the worst thing about it is.... I recorded it next to the stringray and it sounds better. Did I just say that?
Blimey, I've just gotten myself my first Stingray n all I'll have to pop over sometime and have a noodle on your bongo -
Actually yeah, the hardware on my toby is really cheap and crappy and my old stagg had hardware of a similar quality in black and since then black hardware has just struck me as cheap. It can look ok on some things but i prefer chrome or gold. I think a nice looking gold can look nice, but i prefer it to be in contrast with the colour of the bass, like on that sequioa gold (more brown than anything) MM or on black guitars like a les paul custom or something. that's just me though, i do agree gold can look tacky in some applications though, on particularly cheap basses or if it's a cheap looking gold. But for me chrome is the way forward, it's just so clean and neutral looking and looks good 9 times out of 10. also sweet bass far0n, i think a white ice PG on that would look sweet Actually what is that? The dark headstock suggests it's a SUB, but the paint on the body suggests it's a ray, unless it's a ray with a status neck? or maybe a cutlass?
It's a 2004 limited edition model, in radiance red with black headstock...or so the serial number says anyway

Anyone ever bought a replacement neck from Status ? Just wondered what their thoughts were ? Cheers
very pretty, the idea of stickin a black pickguard on that is makin me rigid....
How's about getting it Sim LED'd, nice alternate red and white ?
Just bought Jobie's Ashdown combo, now need the 2X10 to go with it. I know there are a few knocking about herein, but none of the folk I've asked so far got back to me. My pysics tell sme that the thing has to be 4 ohms so's it won't 'pull' too much on the amp and blow it? That being the case, has anybody got owt that'll do the job? I'll drive and collect within 100miles maximum of Hull.
Strangely I bought his 2x10 cab off him only a couple of weeks ago. Pretty damn good it is too, you'll be wanting a 8 ohm one though, otherwise you'll pop your amp. 2 x 8 ohm cabs gives a 4 ohm total.

This one is utterly stunning Musicman Stingray
Did you like the one you played?
Yeah, absolutely loved it. I hate playing basses in shops, if you get the chance to play it live at full volume through a decent rig that's when you get an idea of what a bass is really like.
-
Right, got the chance to play a Musicman Stingray last night at a wedding, the groom's father was a bass player and kindly let me have a little noodle on it, very nice of him. Anyway, it was a 3 band eq with piezo bridge model. Now I've been looking at Musicman basses for a while trying to make up my mind what to get. I'd never really considered getting one with a piezo bridge, so does it make much difference ? Any pros/cons ? Also, is the only difference between a Sterling and Stingray, the neck/body shape and coil switching ? ...and where the hell do Bongos fit in ??
Both 4 ^_^ Both make great standalone cabs but i have the 410 now and its plenty for my needs! -Jake
I've got a 410 Proline myself, it's just bloody heavy. Was thinking I could split it two, 2x10, 8 ohm cabs or something similar. EBS would surely sell far more if they did them in 8 ohm format. Strange people.
I have the album on CD and very fine it is too. Mike
Me too, damn good album actually, some pretty fruity bass lines on it too. -
Seem to remember them playing this track on some Royal Variety Performance thing around 1990ish. I know the bass player was Shaun Ward of Simply Red but can I hell as like find any footage of the performance.
Oh wow! Someone who actually remembers them!!!! I played an amazing 6 string Minky bass at one of the Guitar Shows.. I am thinking it must have been the London Guitar show.. Infact, I recall Steve Lawson being there, playing. Chad Smith too. They were really great basses, very slick to play too! The facings of the body and headstock were all hand carved to look like stone. A real eye catcher!
Yeah the bodies were a work of art, didn't sound too shabby either ! Tried googling the name and all that but sod all shows up
