1. Keeping the amp ('cos it's great, sold the 151HR a while ago, still got the 4x10 left. Cracking cab, utterly spotless condition. Cheers
2.
Do these have the hybrid valve pre-amp like the ABM?
I don't think so no, there's no 'valve drive' control on it anyway.
3. ********* Found a new home in Bridgwater, Somerset ********************** Ashdown MK500, spotless condition, hardly any dust never mind scratches or anything. Probably gigged about a dozen times, always been rackmounted. A list of specs can be found here:- http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=113 Brand new Sounds Live sells them for around £675. I live in the Teesside area and often frequent Sheffield if you're wondering about posting/delivery. Cheers
4. Hiya Rich and Chaps, I did indeed have a Key-Factor, fabulous bass which I went for mainly 'cos of the 34" scale length rather than the Ex-Factor's 32". Trouble is the Kubicki bass's bridge is inset quite far into the centre of the body, so the whole scale length moves to the left. Consequently a 32" bass feels more like 34".... my 34" Key-Factor unfortunately felt like a 36" bass. Had real problems reaching the first fret notes on it without it hurting. Not nice. So I'd deffo go for the Ex-Factor, the slap sounds from them are just astonishing. Such a unique sound, instantly recognisable.
5. Tried a friend of mine's Musicman Sub the other day and woah! Does that thing have some balls. So I thought I'd buy a Musicman, thing is I can't decide which to buy. I'm intrigued by the Bongo and Sterling but wondered if anyone had preferences/thoughts on the matter. Are they all variations on a theme ??
6.
Actually, I do, but mainly those are home theater line arrays. As to the location of the port, its location makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. The frequencies radiated from the port do so in a completely omnidirectional pattern, so it makes no difference which way the port faces. Rear ports and walls are only problematic if you slam the cab flush against the wall and seal the resulting joint airtight.
Right ok, so if that's the case why would Markbass manufacture the same cabs but in rear and front ported formats ? Seems a bit odd to me !
7. Can anyone give me some idea of what difference in sound there will be between a front ported cabinet and rear one ? Do front ported cabs throw the sound further ? I own a very nice Markbass stack at the moment, all the cabs are rear ported. Sounds great when you're stood next to it, but disappears when you stand more than 8 feet away. On the other hand I have a nice Eden D410XLT that I could stand half a mile away from and it'd be clear as a bell. Trouble is it weighs twice what the markbass ones do
