1. Yeah same cones, just different impedence. I'm assuming the 4 ohm cone will have more windings?
2. What's the physical difference between say two 15" speakers, one 4 ohm and one 8 ohm. Does one have a larger magnet or coil windings? Just curious.
3. Why is the SA450 a class A/B amp, yet the more powerful ones are class D ? Is there some electrical reason why the more powerful ones aren't A/B also ? Heat possibly ? I don't know ! Ta.
4.
900 watts should normally be more than loud enough for anything, unless you're running tiny cabs, in which case it'll normally be more than enough to fry them! What are you using as a pre-amp to drive this? The QSC has an input sensitivity of 1.23V, it's possibly worth mentioning that a lot of bass pre-amps on the market can't actually supply this adequately. If you don't have an appropriate pre-amp then you are not getting full power out of the QSC.
See now, at 8 ohms each channel only puts out 450W. So I'm not really getting anywhere near the full load. I had a feeling this was the case, that the input signal wasn't strong enough. The amp seems to be perfectly fine, it's just quiet. Any recommendations for preamps ?
5. Right had this a few weeks now. I'm running two 8 ohm cabs, one on each channel. But I'm finding this isn't loud enough, I'm at least having to turn the rig up full whack. I've read the manual and looked at bridging it, but it only mentons running one cab. Does only one channel work in bridged mode ? So would I have to link the two 8ohm cabs with each other to run them both in bridged mode ? Ta folks.
6. My Vigier Passion has a neck like a fag paper. It's that slim it's almost unplayable after you've been playing something else for a while.
7. Warwick 4U rack case, one or two scuffs and scratches as you'd probably expect but generally in decent nick. Lockable with key provided. Open to offers around the £30 mark.
8. Spotless condition, still boxed with manual. Open to offers say around the £40 mark, think I paid around £120 for it maybe 6-7 years ago.
9. Right chaps, for sale is my SA450. It's in utterly spotless condition, no scratches, scuffs, no dust or rack rash either. Been my mainstay for the past 4 years or so. A cracking amplifier. Here's a clip of me playing through it... this is just the amp and two David Eden 2x10s, I don't go through the PA whatsoever. Comes with rack ears and a Markbass padded bag shown in the picture. Here's the specs from the Markbass website... Offers around the £400 mark, no trades. 10. Oh yeah, paid £215 for it. Seems like a monster amp for the money !
11. That's what I thought. Strange cos there's no need to do that really, you just flick it to parallel instead and hey presto. Cheers for the manual, pretty self explanatory really
12. Which of these dip switches should I be noodling with ? The plan was to run both channels with a single 8 ohm cab in each for now, maybe moving up to 4 ohms per channel later when I can afford it. Anyway, the chap wasn't sure what the wires did on the back, you'll see in the picture that the blue and brown wires are connected up. Is this running both channels in mono like this ?? All help & guidance greatly appreciated.
13. Isn't Paul Turner a Sunderland lad ?

16.
Oh, and my lefty P-bass has a great presence, no-nonsense passive sound, wonderful chunky neck, and plays like a dream... Cheers Graham
...and we'll all know you're lying
17. Current basses:- Musicman Sub 4 - Uneven string balance, can't get the action wafer thin like I'd want it. Ripped out the electronics, replaced with a John East Preamp and Nordstrand pickup. Think that says enough about the stock parts. G String problem fixed now. String spacing too wide for my taste. Ibanez ATK - Too heavy, neck's too thick, bass/mid/treble installed the wrong way round compared to every other bass on the planet. Vigier Passion - Monster tone... if you can find it. Most of the time you can't. String balance is poor, very very middley sound, so massive mid scoop and a huge dollop of bass is essential. Suits 12" cones I've found. Cort Funkmachine - My 'dependable' bass, on board funk wah largely useless. Even TM Stevens didn't use it. Too many frets for my liking.. tends to inhibit slap stuff. Ibanez CT - Nothing flash, doesn't actually do anything wrong... it just doesn't do anything incredibly well either. Strung BEAD at the moment and it's sounding pretty good.... Just a bit bland. Previously owned:- Kubicki Key Factor - If the bridge is in the middle of the body then a 34" scale bass will feel like a 37". Unplayable I found for this reason, low F was virtually unreachable. Outstanding slap sound.. fingerstyle... meh. So so. Lightwave Saber 5 string - Stupidly neck heavy, chambered body (which didn't help). Piezo pickup just added 10 tonnes of hiss and a very nasty top end... harsh... not nice at all. Status 1000 (or maybe a 3000 I think) - Bizarre sound that carbon fibre lark, not for me at all. Can see how it's popular with the slap guys though. Very clanky and rattley. Musicman Stingray - Sounds stunning at home, headphones on. Live.... where did that sound go ? String spacing too wide for my taste n all. Piss poor G string too. Can't get the action very low either. Exactly like my Sub4. I'd be well pissed with this instrument if I'd paid £1200 for it.
18. Anyone know the difference between the GX range and the RMX range ? Ta
19. Warning - Cheesy Japanese Pop !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwDoMtuK8sw&feature=related
20. My eventual plan is to run two 4 ohm cabs through an amp that obviously can run at 2 ohms. So I'd pretty much decided to get a QSC 1850HD. I noticed that to run at 2 ohms the amp needs to be in ran in stereo, so is it just a case of taking a line out from one channel into the other ?? Anyone recommend a half decent preamp to go with it ? Running in stereo could be fun afterall !!
21. Unusual body shape, Fender style headstock, interesting bridge, P-pickup. Anyone ?
