1. I had a fretted one and the neck was really unstable on it. As the neck got hotter over the course of a gig, the action would get lower and lower until it started to choke the strings. Flogged it soon after.
2. Right folks... I'm now the grand old age of 40 and my 1st finger on my fretting hand hurts. It has done for about 3 months now. Just the first/bottom knuckle. Tried laying off the playing for a bit, which seems to help, but it's tricky not playing when there's folks that want their Christmas party gigs !! All opinions and recommendations welcome ! p.s. Our guitarist says I've got arthritis...... git.
3. Wasn't the SD1200 discontinued a while back ? He must have bought them second hand
4. Frightening !! http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/25/mechbass-robot-nails-the-bass-guitar-sound-with-arduino/
5.
Nice to see a G&L on here - I'd be interested to see what people think of them compared to Music Man. Might start a new thread
Well I have my modified Stingray Sub4 with John East Preamp and Nordstrand Pickup. The Stingray has a much fatter neck which I find a bit more challenging to play for long periods... and sometimes it just doesn't sound 'right'. That's probably more to do with the venues than the bass but it's one of those things that niggles at me. The G&L is probably the first bass I've owned where I'd buy another one in an instant....as a backup you understand ;o) (excuse I'll give the missus when I do eventually get another)
6. Actually, Gallien Krueger do an 8 ohm one... but there's not that many that do.
7. Why is that? I would have thought there'd be a market for 8ohm ones too.
8.
Very nice playing , great sounding bass and an interesting and unusual choice for a bass cover. Good work all round.
One of my favourite bass lines, nice song and it's not often you get a bass solo in the middle of a pop song now is it !!
9. Here you go chaps, a quick video of me playing the ASAT. Monster tone... best bass I've had by a country mile. http://youtu.be/fMcuulkkKao
10. SD1200 ideally. I didn't think it'd be a hard job, usually it's just a quick resolder. Cheers!
11. Considering buying a Markbass amp from the US, anyone know how easy it is to convert it to european voltage ? it says that the amps are 'factory set' at a particular voltage. However, did the same to a Ashdown MK500 and it was just a case of soldering a couple of wires and that was it. Ta
12.
3 bolt Fenders?
So that's where Leo stole his own idea from !!!
13. There's a tiny hole in the back of my G&L ASAT where the neck plate is. I've realised after much head scratching that it's a little hex key that shims the bolt on neck from outside the socket. Absolutely outstanding idea. Shame I had to take the neck off to find out ! I've not seen this on a bass before, should really be more common.
14. Damned sight cheaper than Paypal then !
15. Message from someone that's bought a bass off me. To be fair he's got 94 100% feedback ratings, so it must be ok ???? I tried to do the money transaction via PayPal, so i refreshed my Credit Card. Problem is, that i have to wait few days to receive the new activity code (i do not use online banking with Master Card). I can propose you a another possibility. Normally inside Europe i use Bank wire transfer, it`s also a very safe and fast way to send money. Would you change? If yes, i need your international Bank Code (BIC) and your IBAN number + your full name + name of your Bank. Believe me, it`s not my strategy to produce troubles, but i`m sure we will make it. Best regards, Harald
16. Spotted a lovely bass, just about the pull the trigger to the tune of £550 and the guy selling it decides it's worth more and relists it for £950. Good luck with that one mate. Two words.... end & bell
17.
Great bass. Not enough strings for me alas. Great band btw ;-) Tell Danny to get out the way - can't see Carl!
Carl's a cracking drummer, just loves playing the lad doesn't he !!
18. My trustee Vigier Passion Series 3, a marvelous bass if ever there was one. Good condition, a few bumps/scratches as you would probably expect of this age of instrument but nothing too bad. Adjustable Kahler bridge for both height and string spacing, graphite rods in the neck and I've had a proper 2x9v battery case installed in the back of it too. Anyway....here's a clip of it in action....
19. Mark King is a financial slag of sorts, who will frankly play anything if you're paying him enough. He's never sounded so bleedin rubbish as he does now.

21. It's sounding very nice at the moment, in fact I'm tempted to buy a 2004 Ltd Stingray in that sparkley red colour and transfee all the bits over. If you're in the slightest bit interested here's the beast in action. http://youtube.com/watch?v=-dCc_Ko5xiA
