1. Thanks guys, that's great. Lawrence - your build diary is a great read and what an amazing result! It looks superb. I'm really not sure if I've got the patience to put the effort in that you did with all the primer and paint coats though, it sounds like a real labour of love. Do you think it would look crap if I stripped it down and then applied a finish to the natural wood? I actually quite like the look of yours when it was stripped-down in your first diary post. Dave - how many coats of oil are you giving yours?
2. Hi all. I've got to preface this by saying I've never tried anything like this before and I'm completely incompetent at most things DIY / technical! In spite of this I've got a 97 Mexican Jazz that's battered and bruised and could do with tarting up. I quite fancy stripping it and leaving it natural and putting a black scratchplate on. I've got loads of questions so advice from anyone who's done this before would be really appreciated. Main questions / concerns are: - What's best to use to get the black paint off? I guess using a few different grains of sandpaper but is there any sort of gentle paint stripper to use first? - What would you use to finish it? - I'm planning on leaving the neck and headstock well alone. Is that wise? Thanks guys. I'm probably stupid to attempt this but I fancy a challenge and it will really annoy my wife. Any help would be great. Andy
3.
I'm all about my Boss TU-2 - the industry standard for years. Can be picked up super cheap second hand, so reliable.
+1 My Boss TU-2 has never let me down.
4.
For those using headphones, if you're intending to play along to a backing-track (when practicing solo, I normally play along to a track of my band playing) how do you work that into the headphones? I like the look of the Sennheiser 201s, especially for the price - but how would I play the band into the mix? Just wear my iPhone headphones underneath?
I've got a little Vox plug in amp. You can put a line in from your mp3 and your headphones out. Ok, the amp sound isn't great compared to whatever rig you normally use but it's pretty much noise-free playing (other than the string clanking if you're playing along to Maiden!). Works brilliantly for me cos I've got an I'll tempered wife and two young kids! It's around £40.
5. I got a pair of Sennheiser HD 202s for Christmas. I jammed for nearly 3 hours last night with them on and they were brilliant - really comfortable and nice and bassy. £28 from Amazon! Plus the cable length is enormous - 3m. Only had them a month so I can't comment on durability but looking good so far.
6. Hi mate. Whereabouts are you? I'm down in the south west in a couple of weeks. I'm definitely interested in this, I could do with a practice amp for work. If you could PM me your postcode I can get a price for a courier to Sutton Coldfield as well. Cheers! Andy
7.
Pm'd...i think. Internet's playing up here
PM replied to thanks Alex.
8.
Would a Cort Curbow fretted 5 in black float your boat? With cash in your direction of course.... Like this one.
Hi Conan Thanks for the interest but it's not really what I'm after. All the best mate. Andy
9.
Fancy a swap with a bit of cash your way? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=120035
Hi Mark Thanks for the offer - great looking bass but not for me thanks. Good luck with it. Andy
10. Bump (If no-one's interested I'll keep hold of it.)
11.
cant believe this hasnt gone.. ive got one on loan and its awsome... i did a review of it last week..
Thanks Bub. I've had loads of interest in it but no-one's snapped her up yet. In the meantime I've got casual GAS so I'm now open to trades, maybe a 5 string but try me!
12. The buyer has dropped out so this is now back up for sale. Cheers Andy
13. Hi Had lots of interest and PMs on this, thanks to everyone. It's currently on hold pending the usual but I'll update the listing if it falls through. Cheers Andy
14. Hi everyone. I'm not playing this at all and I've got a major craving for another P so I'm putting this up for sale again. Had loads of interest in January but no sale. I'll drop the price to £360 delivered if that helps... I'd be happy with a straight sale but I'm really after another Precision. Will look at US or Jap Ps with a maple neck, obviously with cash your way. I'm selling my Fender Jazz 24. I bought it from Graham D on this site in November 2009 and used it as my main bass for a few months before I got a Precision. I'm not in a band for the forseeable so it's just sitting in a hard case feeling sorry for itself. It's a thing of beauty, the finish is really lovely and someone should be playing it. It's Korean made and cracking to play, really versatile tone. These don't seem to come up for sale very often. This is a link to Graham's original post: Fender Jazz 24 I can get more photos if anyone needs them but you're welcome to come and try it out if you're in the Birmingham area. I paid £380 for it so looking to get that back. Would prefer collection so you can check you're happy with the bass but I can courier. Will be sent without the hard case but very well padded. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers Andy
15.
I know this is sold but I'm looking for some user feedback. I play in a loud rockband, and when we're working on new songs it'd be great to be able to put something like this in the middle of the practice room and record a "take" that we can then distribute by email in-between-practices so we can avoid that "what did it go like last week" syndrome. Would this be suitable? We've tried doing this on our phones but the mic gets totally distorted with anything other than acoustic guitar and vocals - and I'd really like to do it with guitar/guitar/bass/drums/vocals but still get a "cleanish" recording.
Hi Toasted. I bought this off Wildman hoping it'll do exactly that. Got a rehearsal tomorrow night and I'll try it out for the first time so I'll let you know how the recordings sound. The H2 is supposed to be good for live recordings as well and they're the same price new as I paid for this one. Lee-Man - dropbox looks good so there might be another 250mb coming your way!
16. Hi Are you selling the pedals separately or just as a job lot with the board? I'm after a BF-3 Flanger. Cheers Andy
