1.
bump
Hi Paul. Are you sure I can't tempt you with a lovely 4 string US Precision? Latest model, oly white with rosewood fretboard.
 2. Cuold I put myself on the list after Jacques please? I'm seeing them at the V festival next weekend, really looking forward to it. This is worth a look for Jools' band introductions if you haven't seen it. http://www.youtube.com/user/bob19520#p/u/8/Lq5ltYWQlLU
 3. I saw them at the NIA in Birmingham on Sunday and thought they were brilliant. Seen them about 15 times now over the last 21 years and this gig was in the top 5. Thought the sound was better than at the NEC and bigger standing area. Very funny when the bass and guitars cut out in Beast, Harry looked properly peed off. I managed to piss everyone behind me off by being 6'6" and generally spoiling everyone's view! The lights kept bouncing off Harry's mirrored pickguard and looked very cool indeed. I think the reason they didn't play that many older tracks and dropped Run To The Hills is because the last tour was the Somewhere Back in Time one with loads of classics. I'd much rather see them playing Phantom etc but they played it at the Clive Burr gig in Hammersmith in 2005 and I got to hear Ancient Mariner at Twickenham last time. If they play Alexander The Great live before they hang up their sweatbands I can die a happy man! Agree the setlist on this tour includes a couple of dodgier tracks but it really didn't matter, just gave me a bit of a breather. I actually liked Airbourne. Too ACDC for me to get into them, but the lead guy was getting everyone going by mentioning Maiden between every track. I haven't really enjoyed a Maiden support since the first gig I saw with Wolfsbane supporting them. I normally stay in the bar!
 4. Ooh, very interesting. Are they MIM?

 8. I had one of these and the neck was fantastic - very slim and quick from what I remember. Pretty finish as well. Good luck with it. Andy
Three Jazz pickguards, each with some light crazing on the surface but no big scratches: 3 ply tort Jazz pickguard - £13 posted 4 ply white pearl Jazz pickguard - £13 posted 3 ply white Jazz pickguard - £13 posted 2 x 'Giraffe' folding guitar stands, the type with two fold-out legs with cradles and a telescoping neck holder - £10 each collected from me in central York. Could post for about £17 each - packaging will be as expensive as postage. I've also got a ton of books here that I probably won't be keeping, just trying to work out how expensive they'd be to ship, might add them to this listing tomorrow night.
Hi mate. Is the tort one Fender? I bought a generic one for my 97 Mex bass and had to send it back as it didn't fit. Cheers Andy
 13.
At first i thought KD was a dude, and was ultimately dissapointing.
Me too. I only switched over as she came on and thought it was a chubby Paul Heaton. I was a big Housemartins fan so got quite excited, then the disappointment hit as I realised it was KD!
 14.
Hi, does anyone know where I can find a singer for a potential new Queen tribute band in Devon? Based around exeter, lookalike not very important, but must sing and have the right attitude... Not too tall an order, I know!! We want to focus on the pre '82 period.
Have you tried the usual websites? I've got involved with bands through bandmix but this one's probably been the most useful for me: http://www.joinmyband.co.uk/ Good luck!
 15. Rob bought my Fender Jazz 24 and was a real gent to deal with. No messing around at all, don't hesitate to deal with him. Andy
 16. Great bass and a very keen price. I just sold my 4 string one and it was a beauty. Good luck with the sale.

 19. I think they only made them between 05 and 09 - I haven't seen many up for sale on here at all. I'm actually quite surprised it hasn't sold by now but I know it's a very tough time and not many people are flush for cash.

 23.
I've stripped 2 Black Fenders; Now contradicting what others have said, Nitro Mors was the only thing I used. No chisel, no heat gun and no power tools. This is the thread to the last one I did and it contains lots of progress pictures http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...=stripping+body I'm happy to talk via PMs to anyone who wants any help or guidance but hope the thread offers some guidance. Most people think mine were professionally done which is a huge compliment as I'd not tried this a year ago. I loved the whole process and really bonded with the instruments doing it
Wow. They look amazing mate and it's convinced me to go for the stripped look rather than try painting it. As you say though, I won't know what the wood's like until I take the plunge but I really hope it'll be ok. Thanks to all of you, really useful advice and some great looking basses. If mine looks half as good as any of yours I'll be very happy. Andy
 24.
I did this not even a month ago and the paintwork is ridiculously hard to breech. Nitro Mors had absolutely NO effect. You'd need to chisel the poly off best you can, and then take a sander to the wood to get the inevitable marks out! The wood on my Jazz is actually quite attractive and I'm glad I bothered. Truckstop
Truckstop - have you got any photos mate? What did you finish it with?
 25.
Hi Kinder, I recently stripped down a Mexican Jazz to put a leather skin on it: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=116468 This was a b*tch of a job to be honest, on just about every level. Sanding down the original was a horrific job, and took an eternity to just get past the varnish, let alone the paint. I can't begin to describe the feeling of misery that I had when I was halfway through the process, thinking that I'd completely bollocksed up a perfectly good guitar. However, now it's done, I'm pretty chuffed that I have something unique, although I still have to squint to overlook some of the imperfections... So, first piece of advice is: be absolutely sure you want to do it. Your guitar will be in pieces for a fair old while with exposed wiring, removed bridge, etc. Maybe a roadworn appearance isn't such a bad thing. Or maybe you could pay someone to do it... Second: consider chemicals before sanding. This is something I wish I had done, although how to practically achieve this would be a challenge. Or Lawrence H's idea sounds good. None of this has probably been very helpful to you, but I thought you'd like to hear of my experience. Whichever way you go, I hope you get the results you want. Stay groovy, BB
Jeez BB, I knew lefties were a bit weird but a leather bass is plain kinky! Would you go through the hassle again?
