1. ...but the bass had a great sound.
2.
Simple, but beautiful. Still....must...hold...out...for...a...kingbass!
No Chris, buy it and remove temptation from my gaze. Please!
3. No that's not mine. I took mine with me when I left.
4. The sinus wave gives a very nasal tone. Sorry, had to get that one in.
5.
Must. Not. Buy. Fretless. This is such a beautiful tune mate
Oh, thanks faceman. Go on, buy a fretless. You know you want to. They can just be so expresive.
6. Well I'm Biased but what about a Status. The phenolic fingerboard can give a different sound. The link below gives you an idea of what it can sound like. This tune was all played on my Status S2 fretless. Maple Leaf Angel
7.
Probably a name they come up with so they can sell product through a catalogue company without upsetting mi retailers.
...or Squires are becoming too good?
8. Maybe not so damn silly after all. Takamine TB10
9. I'm sure someone will recomend lessons sooner or later. If you don't want to go down that route you could always try Todd Phillips DVDs which would help on your technique. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Todd-Phillips-Esse...c/dp/B00024OR4Y Regarding EQ, I always roll off as much of the mids as I can which gives a much looser sound. My line goes: instrument mids cut - into MB Superbooster cut mids - into AI Contra with mids rolled off altogether.
10. I'll second the AI amps. One person described mine as a sensible bass amp. They have a down firing 10" which uses the stage to spread the sound which can be quite big for the size of amp. For bigger gigs I plug in a Markbass 15" cab which can just make the sound enormous. The sound from that rig is so much better than my old Ashdown.
11. Nice looking job. Any chance of some sound clips? Always wondered what a fretless acoustic bass sounded like.
12. Nice bass Fat Rich. Hope you enjoy playing it. Now will someone please buy the fretless Series II from the Gallery and remove temptation from my site. Looking forward to your T-bass ahpook
13. Thanks for posting these, Rich. Real collectables they are.
14.
Mail order bride?
I didn't know Ikea did flatpack mail order brides. I must take a trip down to Gateshead tomorrow and buy one.
15. Sad thing is he's sitting there laughing at us all for fumbling around in the dark.
16.
My guess is: 1. 7string has died and/or is unable to use the internet right now 2. he's having too much fun with his "thing" to bother to talk to us.
If it's number one then maybe it's a coffin.
17. Yeh, but that's a Piranean Mountain Dog that is standing beside the box So it's plenty big enough for a skyhook.
18.
Is it a long wait?
Well, it might be a box of sky hooks
19. Don't even think about a fretless S2, Rich. Just order one, they are fantastic. I scoop all the mids out of mine and it has a lovely "loose" sound to it when played over the end of the neck. I use flats which I don't like on a wooden board but they work really well on the phenolic.
20. Some lovely basses there. The original Buzzards really are amazing basses. Andy, what is the face wood on your KB 5? Lovely basses.
21. When I visited the factory recently Dawn informed me it was the S2000 that turned so many people on to Status basses. With the promised new models next year maybe that S2000 reissue will happen. They were keeping their cards very close to their chests.
22.
[ Just to clear up a couple of things here - firstly, can I refer you back to my longer post earlier on in this discussion - these prototypes should be seen for what they are; a work in progress - and are only a first draft that probably wouldn't have been seen had it not been for Frankfurt... And to confirm - yes the body as you say is slightly too big - infact it's the 5 string version meant to be coupled with a 35" scale neck and has been scaled down for the four string! Bodies will also be more contoured in the final versions. My main concern with the first prototypes was to get the electronics, timber, sound and playability right - cosmetics will be sorted out by the time we get to production.. I have been working on revisions since before we went to Frankfurt last month and we should have the second set of prototypes ready within a month or so and either myself or Stu will post some pictures when we are happy with them... Thanks, Chris
And this is why Overwater are a successful business. The designer is listening to people. Keep up the good work Chris. I look forward to the finished products.
23. Great news EH. Now you can really enjoy the site.
24. How fast is your internet connection? Sounds like they might be taking a long time to download. If you wait they will probably come in eventually and then you can click on them and they will come up on the full screen. Problem solved? It really isn't an irritating site. It's a great resourse for Status basses.
25.
why must the pictures on that website be so irritating i wonder?
If you mean small scroll your mouse over them and click on them. It's amazing what then happens!!!
