1. I got this 2nd hand from Dave Wilson, along with my incredible Firecreek semi-hollow fretless, but my amp can handle the bass without the Headway, so it's here for sale. Excellent condition, comes with instructions, power supply, and box. £75 plus postage
2. D'Addario EXL280 Piccolo strings. 4 string set- 20p,32,42,52. Almost new. Only minimally cut, so will fit any long scale configuration. £10 posted. NOW SOLD D'Addario Chromes 5 string (B-G). Came on my Ibanez Portamento, and I changed them for Thomastiks very shortly after, so they are virtually unplayed. Cut for a 2/3 side headstock. £15 posted 3 sets of short scale (4's) strings 1. D'Addario Chromes flatwounds 2. Rotosound Monel flatwounds 3. D'Addario (I think) roundwounds, but with a clear coating. Older than the above two sets, but still with plenty of life. All cut for 4 in line headstock, 30" scale. £30 posted
3. I'm fascinated by the luthier's art, and I love the great variety of beautiful woods available, but how do you tell a good piece from an indifferent one? They all sound the same when I knuckle them. Also, how do you know which woods will combine well? Is it just received wisdom?
4. I've noticed many set neck basses have tone blocks. Is this just a decorative contrast, or is there some deeper, more sinister reason? I know you'll know.......
5. Haven't been playing it this week, and the thumb is grateful! Would definitely consider trading for a Conklin GT7...
6. Apologies if this has been covered before. Two pickups give you 3 distinct tones, with shades of more in between. Is there some advantage to a single pickup? Surely the tones from that 1 pickup would be covered by the 2? I'm likely missing something fundamental, but that's what you lot are for......
7. http://www.acguitars...urve-classic-5/ This bass is wonderful in every way possible except one- it hurts me! I have work related rsi problems in my left hand, and the asymmetric neck makes my thumb ache quite painfully. I am working on adjusting my technique, because I really love it otherwise. 3 months old, the first Standard bass sold. Even nicer in the flesh than in the pictures. The preamp is amazingly flexible without being too complex- I use it passively, with the active set up as my 'secret weapon'. The strings are brand new, as I changed them for TI flats immediately. Alan very helpfully included a B string, so it can be B-G, or E-C. It will come with a brand new Hiscox hard case, which will increase it's value, or very sturdily bubble-wrapped inside an Ibanez bass box. The trade value is there just to fill in the field. I'm interested in a 6 or 7 stringer, and will consider all offers carefully. Thanks for reading.

9. thank you- it looks really good.
10. could we have a picture of the back? And info on the preamp? thanks
11. I have a fancy to try and be a poor man's Zander Zon, but I need a 4 stringer for the piccolo strings. I really like Paul Rose' work, so I was wondering if anybody out there has a 4 string fretted Prosebass they might want to move on?... Here's hoping.....
12. I've been looking at Dominique Di Piazza's bridge, fitted with wooden saddles to give his fretted bass a wonderful Fretless tone. I want to build one for myself. If anyone has any info/advice/warning, I'd be very grateful. Cheers...
13. Played guitar very half heartedly for decades, was asked to fill in on bass one night, and saw a little light bulb over my head. Not touched a guitar since...
14. The Ibanez- all pro's, no cons.
15. Will take £200 posted. Not bad for a quality handmade bass...
16. Not sure of the weight ( don't have any scales) but it's light and very well balanced
