1. I wonder how many oldies would have to club together with their winter fuel payments to buy it for the relatively small BTU effect..... and the rest of you play nicely - this bass isnt worth falling out over - no really its not! Have a Happy new year!
2. It is the reason eous was added to the end of the word Hid. Even the rusty washers in my rusty piggy bank are too good for this pile of junk.
3.
Stay on the Northern Line until Camden Town and go to The Gallery, problem sorted.
could not agree more. TBC has such potential to be a mecca but is staffed by guys that have had personality by-passes. Utter utter shame.
4. Only just caught this thread - its definately a nut issue - try losening off the A string and putting a piece of paper under it to fill out the slot. If it stops teh buzz you need a new nut cutting. Just done this on my hack PRS. 'tis awesome now.
5. Drum machines are far more reliable than their human counterparts...... I use them all the time. Oh and you can turn them down...... try suggesting that to a real one......
6. The Ibanez and Yamahas on your list are really good also consider the Squire Vinatge Modified range too as there is some peaches ni that range too!
7. They are probably in short supply because they are so good - IMHO of course....
8. "measure your perfect plane angle....!" He's not coming anywhere near my perfect plane angle with a rule - thats an environ for Mrs Burp only...... Did some one mention 'solution to a problem that doesnt exist..?' if so I'm sorry for plagerising!
9. I'm in 3 different syndicates..... what a sad wtat....

11.
black man - I play a warwick corvette and fortress at the min and have owned a rockbass. Great basses but not really what I'm after this time. chris b - that was my back up plan
From this post I can only assume that you are not really after a back up at all and have GAS for something different. Surely if you are using Warwicks and you want a back up, I'm wondering why you would be looking anywhere else.....? If had a main 'stage axe' (which incidently WOULD be a Warwick) then I'd want another set up pretty damn similar as a back up - not something completely different.
12. Aaaaahhh an MK fan eh...? Well you wont get any objections round 'ere to either as they are both cracking Britsih makes. JDs are gonna be harder to find as there has been fewer made, Statii have there own webby and forum and some crakin basses and pop upquite often for sale on here and that auction site. Do some research first tho to work out which one you want. Very very few have issues so not a lot to tell you to look out for other than obvious signs of abuse! Keep us updated on what you get!
13.
Excellent - glad it's all sorted, these sorts of things are usually pretty simple to fix. Wasn't me who made the offer (that'd be Mr. F. Eric), but it would be good to see some pics & find out what it actually is - cos there ain't no such thing as a 1979 Roadstar! J.
J, check the pics its a Roadster. Nice one too - New Graphtec nut and it could be a doosey!
14. WoT, Import duty twice....? Sorry but that cannot do that - You only pay VAT and import duty on an item ONCE - You may have to pay for the service rendered, but repairs and returned goods are not subject of further levies (providing that you canof course prove that you have paid it the first time which of course I can!)
15. John, To expand upon HNs reply above. Sadly in a former life and career (prior to my current vocation) I had to do material technology as part of my Btec. Epoxy resin is a generic name given to several kinds of thermo setting polymers. Whilst there an actual epoxy there are a few different types. Most if not all are not entirely rigid, and have an amount of flexibilty when set. In order to make a resin 'machine hard' then other ingredients need to be added eg glass cloth and normally inconjuction with high perssure as well. then you can end up with the kind of structures we associate with carbon fiber. Even that has to have several layers of perpendicular weft and weave layers to provide rigidity. So is a layer of epoxy going to break when I set the relief on the neck.... No as that amount of flex is well within its tolerances. Think about it for a second, if you applied your argument to a carbon status stealth it would have to be cured and set with relief and no trust rod as it would be so hard it it would break if you tried to adjust it........ So a layer on a fretboard in fact an entire carbon fretboard would still easily bow enough to require a trussrod to counteract the tension of the strings. Betcha cant wait to see it now.... UPDATE - Harris has agreed my plans and is to start on it next week...... WoT - I sent my neck in a doubled up 6" cardboard tube suorrunded by foam and then bubble wrap - I stood on the tube to test it before I put the neck in - Harris was mighty impressed when it turned up - first time he's had a neck sent in a tube .......!
16. If your talking about things, then it depends if you are asking males or females. Females say of course that size doesnt matter but we all now it does.... Males will say that its much bigger than it is and will have hang ups about someone elses being bigger....! As your T rod, is it an Allen key that you need or a socket..? A quick call to John D at 0121-773 5711 should sort your queery...!
17. The neck's in the USA and about to be looked at..... Yippeeeeeee!
18. Just bought a couple of Leatherman tools from John. Top Bloke - Has some top kit too - always better than he lets on. Bob.
19. Dont think you'll be dissapointed, I have a Bart Preamp in my hack PRS and it is very good - TBF its running from 2 PRS pups but it does produce a rich tone.
20. All packaged up and ready to go today!
21. Yep I'll move it - It would help immensely if you added if its 1/2" or 3/8" - Bob.
22. DB, point taken... For those that have no idea what I'm on about..... http://www.woodwiz.com/epoxy/ Bob.
23. Hmmmm good topic this one - I sit in both camps really. If its an intersting or pretty piece of wood I like to see it, afterall most basses are clever bits of woodwork. I'm also really OK with a decent paint job, solid or otherwise. I also like naked Carbon fibre. I'm not keen on distressed 'road worn' or whatever this weeks term is - they just look f**ked and uncared for to me. However taste is personal and subjective.
24. ....HG Thor has just let me know my number is up for my neck de-fret job.... For those that dont know 2 years ago I bought an EB IV specifically to have teh neck de-fretted by the American master. 2 years I have been on his waiting list. Now is my time. I have the shipping tubes coming in the post and it will be off next week. I have other jobs to do to this project before the neck is returned, so I must get my finger out! Will keep you all posted!"
25.
What are the advantages (if any) of having bridge made of seperate individual pieces fitted?
Not sure what you mean by that ? however Gotoh /Badass/Hipshot/ Schaller are all better that a std BBOT style bridge. As long as it fairly high mass and density and has enough throw to cover any intonation issues, style is a matter of personal preferance.
