2. Have you got any pics of the cab?
3. I've got a California JM4 and I can't see myself ever parting with it, excellent price.
4. Ok i'll bite, how much are looking at for both? No idea of their uk 2nd hand value so bartering will ensue
5. Have you got any recordings of this cab, i've never really heard much of the high class boutique bass cabs? Since i'm not gigging either, i'm looking into more audiophile solutions rather than pure volume like I used to crave!
6. I might be buying one, I was wondering how much I should be offering? It's an early 70's one, according to it's vinyl stickers in pretty good condition.
7. If you bring back the bass without the original packaging then you won't be charged VAT, I brought a mac powerbook back from china in 2003 and I didn't pay one penny in taxs.
8. Depends on how much you will be carrying it, I used to take a 4003 in a hardcase to practice with a crate power block on my shoulder + a back pack + a 2x10 cab on the metro.... I would have killed for a gig bag in that situation but I couldn't find one that fitted well enough for me to have confidence it would provide the same protection as my hardcase. It was an utter nightmare but it had to be done, so if you will be handleing the bass alot while transporting it get a gig bag, but if not or it has to be loaded in with other stuff then go hardcase. Or better yet, get both
9.
Can't you all just let the guy sell his bass. If you want to make an offer make one. If you think the price is wrong send a pm. If you want to point out an error in the ad ( I don't see any - he's correct about the taxes) send a pm. If you think the price is too high don't buy it - he'll either drop the price or not according to how quick he wants to sell it. Picking fault like this in public is a pretty shoddy way to behave IMHO.
I'll pm next time, I don't have much forum experience in terms of acceptable etiquette. Posts deleted.
10. Have you got any sound clips, i'm not familiar with high end warwicks.
11. I didn't say anything about import taxes apart from VAT which I know from experience is applied and I don't want to argue about it, but i'll delete my previous posts to aid the sale of this bass.
12.
Carlos I really liked the Sandberg Califonia 5 (JJ pups) but found it had really terrible neck dive, other than that I was really taken with the instrument. How do you find yours?
The California I used didn't have any noticeable neck dive? I've noticed that after listening to alot of lakland MM+J pup configs, that it doesn't cut through the mix very well... it's to soft and smooth. Perfect for slow paced blues...etc but not punk, metal and the like? What do you guys reckon? http://www.lakland.com/multimedia/ac_5502.htm
Thanks. I might re-visit the Sandberg stuff. I really want a nice Jazz Bass 5 string (probably in exchange for my Warwick) - and Ironically it seems as though Fender don't make the best ones!
Check out the Lakland Joe Osbourne and Daryl Jones, both in a similar price range.
13. I'm interested in the JO5, how solid is the B string on that 5? And what is the lowest tuning you have used with this particular bass?
14. Will there be many vendors, i'm never sure if trade stand means they will be demonstrating or selling
15. I've got a Peavey 2x10 i'm not using at the moment, don't mind putting a little cash with it as well. Don't live that far from you either, i'm just outside of montgomery in powys mid-wales. I do have a Crate Power Block that I was using with it, but another dude has called dibs on that in a trade for an epi thunderbird. And it would be a step down in power unless you want the perfect practice amp as well?
16. Anyone heard or played one, I was noodleing around on one today and it was sweeeeeeeeeeet! I was playing the JM IV, but it was one of the smoothest mofos i've played on! Managed that P thump but with extra sustain and really smooth tone and it can do growl as well but not as well. Wind it right back to the bridge pup, mess about with the eq and it didn't sound far off a Spector! The bass I played on was dipped in actual silver metal and had a weird yet wonderful finish, not sure if it's cool or metro-sexual yet though... Anyway here is a pic: Anyone know much about them, the dude at the shop said they were voted bass of year or something
17. Spectors, you check out their resale it's teh suck. Met him in town today and we went into the music shop and they offered him about the same as he paid for the basses second hand (£600, although he would never tell me if he was loosing out lol). Their policy is you have to pay a certain percentage of the final sale (no straight swaps), and their prices are typically allot higher than online. He is just sick trying to sell them I think, if I was of lower moral fiber I might offer him £200 for his Rebop So would a USA Jazz bass be the best option, in black do you think?
