1.
It fascinates me when i see people with a perfect ear.. When i ask them, they say they have always been able to do it .. does anyone know anyone who has achieved this skill through practice??
Hallo son! Good to see you `ear! Hehehe! Nick (you did not mention me in the above topic quote!!!!)
 2.
is this still for sale
I think it went on Ebay......
 3.
any solo recording artists or bands in cambridgeshire looking for an bassist to help them record an ep or otherwise, im looking to take on some other projects, so if you are interested drop me a message and we can talk
Me too!! Hehehee! If anything comes my way that I can't cover due to schedules, I will let you know! Nick (just up the road)
 4. Allo! This bass was originally known as the `Gemini' bass! It was up for sale at Musical Exchanges many years ago and there is a pic of me (surprising!) playing it in store on the old JD website - it is a beauty and one of the biggest basses in the world! From what I remember, the 8 string is a short scale job! Oh, Happy Christmas/New Year etc! Nick
 5. Just to add that I've just bought Ville's superb Tobias bass and a fine transaction it was! Thanks Ville! Nick
 6. These have been discussed before - there are many people who don't like them and many that do - its your money so if you really want one, buy one! I still have my heart set on a fiesta red Jazz but if I had the money, I'd buy an example of each model in the range (s/burst J, red J, red P, s/burst P!!!). It really doesn't bother me where they are made, a good instrument is a good instrument at the end of the day!! And all the ones I've seen are very good! Nick
 7. Prepare to be severely punished boy! Nice one Kol! These are superb basses, the ebonol board does the biz - honk and much mwah! Ciao! Nick O Twa nkey!
 8.
That is a lovely looking bass for an 11 year old. Generous parents!
Indeed! Very nice people - all their kids are into music in a big way and they wanted to get young Peter the best possible instrument they could afford - he has been playing since he was 5 years old and imho, is already grooving very nicely! He liked a couple of Spectors and then tried the GMR and fell in love with it!
 9.
Ask Martin about the Drunken MD and the night club residency we did in Rotterdam in the early 80's... Should give him a few shivers.. Say hello to him from me.....[i think he should remember] Garry
Hi Garry! Martin sends you his very best regards - yes, scary story that! He said that he ended up calling his Dad who was on business in Paris following the `alarm clock/bottle/mantlepiece' incident...! Cheers Nick
 10. Hi Nige! Thats stunning - I had a '90 Thumb just like that in a 4 string format - I had it custom made and Ian (Hancock) bought it after I'd traded it in a year or so later for a Wal! All the best m8 Nick
 11.
Did you make it, Doc?
Allo! Yes, I got there at around 1:45pm - did not see the earlier messages as was not online first thing this morning! Doh! Not to worry, had a nice afternoon with Darren and as it got busy in the shop, I ended up *demoing and selling a GMR bass to a very talented 11 year old player (put my salesman's hat on!) - well, his parents bought it for him! Lovely bass! - lucky lad but he certainly deserves it! *I am a freelancer with no actual fiscal remunerative links to any shop etc - although copious coffee was imbibed!
 12.
Ask Martin about the Drunken MD and the night club residency we did in Rotterdam in the early 80's... Should give him a few shivers.. Say hello to him from me.....[i think he should remember] Garry
Will do Garry! He's such a great player - love him to bits! (in an non-sexy way of course!) As to how you get to do these shows, I sold my soul to Santa....! Actually, it all stems from late '87 when my current MD (Steve Hession) saw me playing a JD bass whilst I was a tender 16 year old Saturday boy in the local branch of Music Village (now Digital Village)...he was impressed (modest eh!?) became a mate and then, just as I turned pro in 2001 called me out of the blue to take over bass for his showband when his regular player left to form `Think Floyd'. That gig led onto all the theatre stuff - its something I never really thought about getting into but it has been a complete education as at that time I did not read and was thrown in at the deep end etc. and it now forms a nice part of my yearly income. Rich! All the best sire! Nick
 13.
"OHHHH NO YOU'RE NOT!"
OHHH YES I AM!!! One of the show highlights for me, apart from when we do `What is this feeling/Loathing' from Wicked!! Its wicked!
 14. Nice Satellite that! !!!
 15.
I went to see the local am-dram musical society's xmas show earlier on. They were very good, some excellent singing and hoofing, but let down badly by their pit. The bassist was especially awful, I don't think he managed to put two correct notes side-by-side all night. I wanted to punch the fecker.
You should have given him a slap!!! Oh, forgot to say, I'm also operating a rat on a stick!!! Myself and drummer Martin Wild (Alan Price, Gerry and The Pacemakers, Mike D'Abo etc) have been trying hard to stop our rats being torn to shreds by the kids on the front row!!
 16.
there's only one thing wrong with that bass. it's not mine. oh well, dream on (for now)
Come to Daddy! Nick xxx
 17. Allo! Tonight was opening night for `Dick Whittington And His Cat', at the Key Theatre, Peterborough - we've had two and a half days worth of tech/dress rehearsal and the show went off really well! Anyone else started yet? (I know mine brother Richard of Out To Play Jazzeth is supplying biblical tones for Toyah Wilcox in Sheffield!). Ciao! Nick (not widow tw an key!)
 18. I've got a day off on Sunday (started Panto today!!!) so might (not 100% sure as to any other plans as yet) try and get to see the lads and you guys! Nick
 19.
Very tasty indeed Rich. You me and the Doc need to open a shop that never sells......Just keeps buying. Cheers mate Dave
Funny you should mention that.......! Meant to say that Rich's collection is nigh-on perfect in terms of a working team* - the bulk of my collection consists of a lot of much cheaper stuff that I used to lust after back in the 80's as a fledgling bassist although there are some tasties too! Cheers! Nick * and we share the same taste in string gauges!!! Spooky eh?
 20.
Ta! The fingerboard is what they call "phenowood." It's basically paper mixed with the graphite binding resin, but it looks like and feels like real wood. Work that one out!
That bass is perhaps the finest 5 I've played - beautiful tone, and plays like warm butter! Brother! Didst thee receiveth mine PM!? Ciao! Nick
 21.
I swear...I've just soiled my keyboard. Nick, if you buy this bass your claims about being poor will never wash on this forum again.
I actually soiled my pants! I'm very poor, contrary to popular beliefs (I can't think why people think I'm minted, heheh) - my offer was actually a swap deal for one of my Alembic basses BUT had I got the money then I'd have it without fail as its one of the prettiest basses I've ever seen!!!! bumpe! Nicko
 22.
Glad its making an impact! It certainly has on me! so much so that im reducing my collection down to 2 basses!
Very tasty Wes! Don't downsize - keep buying 'em matey, you know it makes sense!
 23. Looks really good - excellent refinish! I've got one in the original guise and they are stonking basses! ATB Nick
 24.
Been living in warwick for a week now, and still havn't been down there. Whats wrong with me?!!
Get down there Kev! Its not to be missed!
