1. Something like this..? - http://basschat.co.uk/lofiversion/index.php/t23984.html
2. Funnily enough I was listening to some of his playing while stuck in traffic today... on a bit of a late 80's/early 90's rock kick so I was blasting Let It Scream by The Scream, his post Racer X 'supergroup'. You know, the mob that John Corabi ditched to join Motley Crue..
3.
Contact 7string on here, he'll diagnose and repair for a fellow Basschatter for half the price of anyone in the Glasgow area.
And do twice as good a job..!
4. Saw this while trawling Fleabay this morning - Item number: 130456503544 - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT Oops, just realised it's being sold as a project due to issues with the neck '...terrible...it's like a bow!!' and 'The active preamp, circuitry, control pots, switches and jack socket are all missing' Oh well, I guess £56.00 for body, pup's and hardware's not too bad....
5.
If you'd followed the advice given in your previous thread on this very same subject you'd have this sorted by now. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=109217&hl=
What he said..! Get in touch with 7string and get it done right. His setups are the best I have ever encountered in 20 years of playing, and cost a fraction of what any shop will charge.
6. As of 10am today, Crack Converters in Hamilton had a black SX BC copy. £80 and in OK-ish nick. One of the pots spun and spun, but it may just have needed tightening. Very little fretwear and a couple of dings. Didn't play it amped so can't comment accordingly but felt OK, though it'd benefit from a setup.
7. £62..! RESULT...!! Hope this turns into a setup thread, be interesting to see you go to work on this one.

10. Similar kinda thing here - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=better+known
11.
I think the bass needs a fair bit of fine-tuning, as I believe it's had a lot of use in the past. Being a newbie, I don't know how to 'fine-tune' the bass. I'm so confused by all the mechanics of a bass. The strings buzz at times when I play them. The strings sometimes hit off the frets in the middle of the bass.
Your previous posts suggest you're in/near Glasgow..? If so, check out our very own 7string - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=85024&hl= - he does phenomenal work. I've put a few things his way, everything from a car boot sale P copy to a Gibson 335 belonging to a friend of mine, and they've all come back playing and sounding as good as they're gonna... Think he's got a website now, but check out his thread in the meantime.
12. Fired these off today while preparing for a clearout - L to R - Fender , Bass Collection & erm... Jim Deacon (!) - Sofa is Ikea Looking at getting rid of the BC & JD in the near future, reckon a 5'er is required...
13. That'll sit nicely between your Tyler and Sei...
14. Watched a few of the Tour Diaries that he posted on Youtube. Lot of backstage, tour bus, soundcheck stuff. Can't find a link, but search Glenn Hughes Tour 2010 and his page will come up.
15. Not entirely sure about the model, but I think of her as a 'CBS' as she came from a Car Boot Sale. My dad found her one sunday morning and brought her home, not sure what he paid, but she was in pretty bad shape before Mark worked his magic so it wouldn't have been a whole lot.
16. Here's my JD'P'. Although she's not been 'modded' as such, she has benefitted from a full set up by our very own 7string and she's not bad at all..! IIRC there's a '96 stamp on the heel and a '97 stamp in the neck pocket (or vice versa) More pics here - http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/kin...con%20P%20Bass/ Pity you weren't closer, 4SF, as she's kinda excess to requirements right now...
17. Oh great..! The age old finish/scratchplate/fretboard debate just got more complicated... BTW, the correct answer is 3TSB/Tort/Rosewood (or ebony) and NEON pink strings..!
18. Here we go, not great pics but all I could get before the camera went on the fritz... - More here - http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/kin...ction%20SB-301/ I can try to get some more in daylight (weather and eqpt permitting) in the next few days if these are no use. *EDIT* Hmm, I think I see a problem..! Having played her for the first time in ages last nite after taking the pics, it appears that at least one of the pots isn't doing anything, and it's the one top right in the pic... Will query further
19.
I have a SB 301 4 string passive that I bought around 1990/91 Just dug it out, aint used it for years, and been reminded why, it plays great, really great. but it sounds rubbish. I'm not sure if its down to the light weight, ie. the wood, or the pickups. Anyone on here tried fitting decent pickups to one ? I'd rather keep it passive. I can remember trying it wired similar to a Jazz bass- without the pan pot, but it didnt improve it. so if anyone has a wiring diagram for how it used to be that would help as well lol.
Would a photo of the control cavity of a 301 help..? I'll dig mine out later and see what I can do...
20.
Badass bridges, good on Jazzes, crap on Precisions. Simples
Dammit..! Now you tell me..!!
21. Only caught a glimpse in passing, but I'd say a Les Paul Recording or a Triumph. Gibbo's ain't my area of expertise...
22. Well, there's a 'Bonehed' setting on my PX4D and the effects are, in order, are as follows; Comp2 set at 2.0 (Compressor) Goldpnl set at 3 (A bass amp distinctive or its eye catching gold panel and clean sound) Combi set at 5.0 (One 12 inch and one 18 inch speaker combination cabinet model for bass) Mod N/A Dly N/A Plate2 set at 1.7 (Bright sounding plate reverb) I usually default to the Motown setting...
23.
POW,,,,,welcome to basschat!! Andy P will will be along shortly in anger that there is no Scottish visits
Neither are there any Welsh or N. Irish dates (so far) so it's hardly a 'UK' tour.
24. Download Acid Express from Acidplanet and take advantage of the 8 Packs they give away every week. I've got years of them stockpiled, and find them useful for providing a bit of inspiration and diversity.
25. B-E-A-D gets my vote. Let us know how it goes as I also have a 'spare' SB-301 about the place.
