Mainly because the foot switch seemed to have become pretty noisy, and it was annoying me π Perhaps I should just look at fitting a new one, IF it is the foot switch and not a symptom of another component failing.

Hey folks! ππ Just wondered if any of you have any top tips for getting the best out of the MXR M87 Bass Compressor? I bought one a few months ago, to retire my long-serving Buddha Chakra. It's a great compressor, but I can't help feeling I'm not getting the best out of it at the moment.... With the Buddha, I felt like I could balance the overall signal more evenly, and give it a little more 'body' at the same time. It lifted the quieter notes and controlled the louder notes. With the MXR so far, I feel like all I'm achieving is some peak limiting. I know they're very different compressors, and I also understand compassion enough to not need a lesson in the basics, but if anyone has any good advice to get the best out of this pedal, if be very grateful! Thanks πβ€οΈ

Hey folks! I'm considering buying an isolated power supply for my pedal board, as my Boss ODB-3 seems to have a lot of background noise (not to do with pedal settings, just a high pitched noise) which I believe is due to me running it off a daisy chain supply. Just wondered if any of the 'budget' ones are any good or not? Surely an isolated power supply is an isolated power supply? Thanks, Oli

Thanks for this! He's absolutely flying with it, he spends so much time playing it's incredible! Not even a year in, and I think he'll be better than me soon π Got him his first proper bass at the guitar and bass show back in March, a Dave Ellefson 5-string Jackson, and he's wanting a new bass for his 16th next month! Here we go..... #GAS

Personally, I'd be looking for a cheap used Yamaha over either of those choices, consistent quality and great playability at any price point. π

Really hoping I can make it this year! Diary is clear at present, but will have to confirm closer to the time. May bring eldest son too, as he is now also a bass player!

Ooooh, I do like the look of the P6 5 string in black ππ€ I'd prefer passive though...

I hadn't been on BC for a while, but caught up on some stuff yesterday, including this thread. You guys inspired me to take my Sandberg out tonight, and what a joy it is to play! Hadn't gigged it for quite a while, but will try to more now. Definitely got plenty of thump and authority out of it, sounded absolutely monster! ππβ€οΈ

The fantastic Markbass NY151 cabs, about the most compact 1x15" bass cabs you can buy. Fast, tight and deep, these cabs sound incredible, and two of them together sounds monstrous! Each cab is 400w rms 8 ohms. One is essentially brand new, only bought a few months ago and has had very little use, made in Indonesia. The other is an original Italian one, still in great condition and sounds superb. Β£250 each, or both for Β£450. Reasonably priced for a quick sale. Collection from Hereford

Well I think I've peaked today..... I saw another of the old GR410+ cabs come up for sale, didn't think I'd see one again.... So it's now mine! The one I took a punt on a few years ago is by far the best sounding and most powerful cab I've ever used, and I've had some GREAT cabs in my time! I present the 1400w 8x10" GR Bass stack of doom! π Overkill? Yes. Fun? Absolutely! ππ

You'll probably have to start afresh with your amp EQ settings etc, I'm confident you'll get it to work though! My TT5 passive sounds massive when I dial it in π

Yeah that was a deciding factor for me too, my familiarity with how zoom gear works. Where are you based? You're welcome to come and try mine if you're anywhere near Hereford (doubtful, nothing's near Herefordπ€£).

I had a B3 forever, decided to upgrade to the B2 Four and have been happy so far. It's the most comparable model in terms of functionality, although I miss some of the effects that were in the B3. It's good though, and has some good improvements, the dedicated bypass footswitch is great. The B6 was not a consideration for me, I only use a handful of effects really. I was curious about the Boss GT1-B too, but never got to try one out.

I like 15's π Got a pair of Markbass NY151's recently, and I'm really impressed, they sound tight, deep and punchy, yet still nicely articulate. Speaker diameter doesn't guarantee any particular sort of sound, it's all about the drivers used and the cabinet design.

Yes sorry, I didn't mean GR amps that can go to 2 ohm, but in general there are some amps which can.

I'm not gonna pretend the thought hadn't crossed my mind π«£π

That's what we've got here, the One 1400 has two 700w power amps in, min 4 ohm each π Of course you can also get amps that are 2 ohm stable π€·

Just bought a GR Bass amp from Gareth, he was very honest and upfront about condition, and the transaction was smooth (courier incompetence notwithstanding π ). It arrived unbelievably well packaged, and sounds super! Very nice chap too, wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. ππ

I've been working towards somewhat of a 'vision' I've had for a while, and have finally got there! Let's get a couple of things out of the way first: 1) Yes, I know it's probably unnecessary. 2) This is my cellar/music room, a tatty time capsule to the late 80's/early 90's, and is a way down the renovation list. 3) Yes, I may be having a mid life crisis of sorts. I also bought a Red Arrows leather jacket the other day. I've had my GR Bass 4x10" for a couple of years now, and love it deeply. It's by far the best single cab I've had in the past almost 30 years, amongst some great cabs. I'd been getting to think I might like a GR Bass Amp too... At the same time, I was thinking it would be cool to be able to run more cabs, but the GR410+ is 4 ohm... naturally then, the One 1400 caught my eye! I decided that a new one was more than I could run to, and there didn't seem to be used ones around, but then last week I spotted @franzbassist selling one! After some discussion it was a done deal, and it arrived today! (Unbelievably well packaged I might add, I'm not sure if Gareth was trying to protect the amp or save himself a tip run π€£). I've only had a brief play around with it this evening, but so far I'm loving it! It's clean and clear, but not clinical. Natural sounding, with a very flexible EQ section, yet still simple to use. Lots of oomph, but also great definition and dynamics. Very pleased! In addition, I've had a penchant for 15's again in the last few years, and have been experimenting with a couple I picked up pretty cheap (one from the fantastic @vmaxblues). They were great, but I was fixated on a specific form factor, and wanted two cabs the same. So in the past few weeks I've picked up a pair of Markbass NY151's. So I now have 3 rig options: One 1400 with the GR410+, this will be my main rig: The pair of NY151's, pictured here with my backup amp, a LMII. This configuration will be great for stages with little space: And then we have the behemoth.... The 1400w, 4x10" + 2x15" monster! This should do well for the outdoor shows in the summer! ππ Sounds absolutely phenomenal! Not just ridiculously loud and gutsy, but REALLY good sounding! I did wonder if something sounded a bit funny for a moment, but then I realised it was just the house disintegrating π€£π€£π€£. I often find at outdoor gigs (using only our PA - mainly only for vocals), the bass gets a bit lost, whereas the 100w valve half stacks/stacks seem to project well across a field no problem. I'm hoping this will help balanced things up a bit. π Sorry for the long post, but I've been working towards this for some time, and I'm over the moon that I've got there in the end! Oli
