  1. Many thanks for all the help guys! 🙏
  2. Thanks Bill. Well, if anyone volunteers to help me out with that, I'd be very appreciative! 🙏
  3. It's a good suggestion, but there doesn't seem to be anyone even vaguely local to me who does it. I've also read some info online that makes it sound like repair would cost far more than replacement, sadly. 😔
  4. I think the recommendation was just based on other people having used that speaker successfully. Apparently the guy works with a lot of audio hire companies that put these drivers in the old TE cabs with good results. I've never used speaker modelling software and have no idea where to start with it unfortunately.
  5. Gorgeous, good score! 😍👌
  6. Hey folks! Some of you may remember my TE combo refurb/conversion from a few months ago: I realised after I started using it that there seemed to be a problem with the speaker: there is a weird distorted overtone in use, especially noticeable at low volume, although it does seem to affect sound quality at higher volume too. I was able to remedy it a little by soldering the speaker wires rather than relying on the spade connectors, but it seems to have returned. I can hear it even when using my Ashdown cab stacked on top of this one, so clearly something is awry with it..... It's a shame, because the fundamental sound is really good. I'm assuming it must be the voice coil or something. So, I've hit a point where I need to seriously consider replacing the speaker (so much for a cheap project eh?!). Clearly I can't buy a direct replacement as they're not made any more. I've seen a Faital Pro 15PR400 for sale not too far away, and I just wondered if anyone knows whether this would work okay in my cab? I appreciate the cab hasn't been engineered for this speaker, but there's not a lot I can do about that. My little Ashdown has an Eden speaker that someone's put in there, and it sounds great! 🤷 The option recommended by Watford Valves is the Celestion BN15-400s, but that'll cost quite a bit more. Any thoughts on this welcome. Cheers, Oli
  7. Update on the power supply: finally received my power supply from Thomann..... And they've just sent me a bog standard EU>UK travel adaptor... 🤦 Not impressed, but I'll just carry on using the power supply over already been using. Also having a problem with my B2 Four.... I just can't decide which drive sound I like best! 😅 Oh the first-world problems caused by multi effects! 🤣 Back to the drawing board shortly to try to make some decisions. I'm not as in love with the dark drive as I expected to be, although I do like the dark preamp for my Crunch sound 👌
  8. Hey folks! 👋 😊 I normally manage to remember lyrics for songs alright, but we're learning quite a few new tunes at the moment and I'm struggling. 😅 I've just bought a tablet mic stand holder, and will use our (my wife's) Samsung Galaxy Tab A for my lyrics at rehearsal. Question is, what apps are good?! I've read that some have intelligent auto scroll, which sounds pretty cool! Any recommendations people? Thanks, Oli
  9. I should've clarified, I was talking about massive rack units for bass amps! I think it's pretty common for PA gear, think ours is in 6U and 4U cases, maybe bigger actually 🤔
  10. They would absolutely make one for you, as @BassApprentice rightly says. The other option if you just want something that's light by normal standards is to ask for a lightweight swamp ash body. I did this with my Classic Booster 5, and it came in at about 3.7Kg for the finished bass.
  11. Thanks for the offer! I'll see how it goes and let you know. Yeah, he doesn't have a case or any packaging materials.. 🙄 It's a cheap bass as a project, so I'm not TOO worried about it having a thorough once-over.
  12. Hey folks! 😊 Just a quick question on the off-chance anyone can help me out: I've seen a bass I'd quite like on FB marketplace, but it's in Wakefield and I'm in Hereford.... That's a 7-8 hour round trip, depending on traffic. The seller isn't willing to ship. He's not willing to package it up for me to arrange a courier to collect. He's not up for meeting me part way, even a little bit. Soooo.... I just thought I'd see if there's any BCers in that area that might be willing to help me out? Either to grab the bass and package it up for me to have collected, or to meet me part way. Or if I'm really lucky, someone might travel towards the west midlands for work 😅. Thanks! Oli
  13. So sad to read this, I can't imagine what that must feel like. Sincere condolences to you and your family ❤️
  14. Seems like an oversight not to have guitar lab/Tonelib compatibility, and also no android app (although looking at the reviews of the G2 one in Play store, maybe we're not missing anything 😅). Hopefully they will address this. It's not an issue for me as I don't have any patches I want to port across. I also find the UI on the pedal simple to navigate and set my sounds up, so the lack of software support isn't an issue, however it seems like a glaring omission which will certainly put some people off.
  15. Honestly, I find it easy enough to do on the pedal itself, so I'm not fussed about the app 🤷
  16. I can't collect basses. I always have one I prefer anyway, but feel compelled to play the others for the sake of it. I sell anything I'm not really using, unless it's special or sentimental (like my first bass). I do now have two 'best' basses, but that's because I built one of them myself, but also I have intention of letting my Sandberg go. I have a backup bass too.
  17. Bit of an emotional one for us last night, it was the final gig for our original lineup. 😢 We've been together 13 years, we're all old friends that go way back, and it's been all good times and zero drama! The drummer and rhythm guitarist are taking a step back now though to focus on family and other commitments. It was a fantastic gig to finish on though! The best live music venue in town, and it was packed! 😎👌
  18. Received the B2 Four on Thursday, unpacked it and shoved it straight on my board, and went in at the deep end at band rehearsal. Managed to get some usable sounds fairly quickly, I found the UI quite intuitive. I was absolutely gutted initially to realise that in memory mode, you can only trigger one patch at a time! No idea why they didn't configure it so any or all of the three patches on-screen can be used at once 🤦. However, with 5 slots in each patch and it being so easy to switch between patch and memory modes,I should be able to work with it no problem, will just need to approach it a bit differently. I'm really loving the drive sounds so far, which is my main need. Anyone got any tips on layering/configuring drive patches? Played around with it a little more yesterday daytime, and gigged it last night, and it sounded great! My patch for a more full-on distortion uses the Dark Drive, but I felt there was a bit of low end suck, so might have to combine it with a comp and EQ to balance it out. Overall though, very happy so far! 😊👌
  19. Gigged my now condensed board last night having removed some individual pedals and brought in the B2 Four. I still need to do some work on my patches, but it worked pretty well! The drive sounds on the B2 are ace! 😎👌
  20. Wow I love this! I had a green and a natural basic 4, the natural one was my first Sandberg actually, bought used in about 2010. Great basses, and the necks feel fantastic. I'm always keeping an eye out for a 5, but they come up rarely. 😅 I've definitely seen older Sandbergs with maple boards though, or do you mean you think this was the first Basic 5 with a maple board?
  21. Thanks Sam 👌 I will play the game with Thomann then ... 😅
  22. Hey guys, weird question..... I've received my B2 Four from Thomann today, but it has an EU adaptor with it.... I've just spoken to Thomann via web chat, and they're saying these units only come with an EU adaptor, there is no UK one available? Seems strange.... Could any of you that already have one of these tell me if that's true? Ta, Oli
