A pub local to us take 20% of the door. That's fair. 50/50 is steep, especially if there's other bands. I expect they're just using their name to bully you.

I'd rather they put money and effort into events for people to play: We used to have a yearly one which was kind of everyone's high point for the summer. Then they stopped it and nothing has replaced it.

I bought a Harley Benton suede bass stra[. It was extra long and I had to make an extra hole to play it higher up my body, but for £10 it's fantasticquality and ain't never gonna snap or anything. Comfy n wide too if y'allz are after a budget strap.

I have never ever used one, and have never ever had a problem with going out of time in a band. I help create the beat in my band rather than follow it; we all do, and so it works.

First played: My uncles Fender Jazz: First owned: My mum's old Westbury Track 2. Not bad!! Looks like this but without the stickers and I've added a badass style bridge to replace the original which had a strange curve to it, like an upright meaning the middle two strings were about 2mm higher of the fretboard - hard work! Originally strung with 20 year old rotosound black nylons it didn't ever stay in tune. First time I bought a set of strings for it (a set of fenders I think) I was amazed at how good it sounded! These are great little basses, it's very well made too.

This is clearly gonna become a full blown 'guilty pleasures' thread
