help! What's a normal value for a LED protection resistor? Standard 9v supply, 5mm LED operating voltage 2v .... I got a load of 1.8k resistors but think they might be too high?
  3. sexy - looks good!
  4. I was enjoying this build thread until the end
  5. Is a FET based SVT style circuit - not what you want!
  6. That sounds great!
  7. It will be laminate of some kind.
  8. Looks very like an old Cimar I had - it’s not a Cimar though. I would imagine laminated body of some kind the bridge is not original and good news probably worth your purchase price on its own … @Bassassin helped me with info on mine. FWIW I regret selling my old one - on of the best jazz basses I’ve played. I know where it is and it’s not going anywhere:(

We may need a “I want to decorate my pedals but don’t have the kit @disssa has” support group
  10. That could be it - he’s doing basic home air guitar - he’s not practiced the stage air guitar - anther one for Mr @warwickhunt when he’s setting homework next time!
  11. That looks amazing. I love proper old stuff that’s been modded and played and no-one cared about ‘vintage value’ cos that wasn’t a thing - great find
  12. I have no idea what’s going on, I skipped forward a bit and he seemed to be hiding behind the guitarist on the left making obscene hand gestures. 😳

So I ended up ordering the parts to the Frog FX1 I want to build, a Vong filter kit and also had my eye on the Baja LA-2A style compressor circuit ... (Essentially a Demeter Compulator that he's changed to be feed forward and another boost stage, like the LA2A rather than feed backward) Started googling how to etch my own boards and Etchant etc... and ended up hopefully learning how to use KiCad and getting a company in china to make me 5 boards... bit mental but a lot cheaper than a bottle of Etchant.... even if I don't use 80% of the boards they are making me! so HOPEFULLY no mistakes in what I've sent them!!
  14. To B or not to B, that is the question
  15. look at the picture above where it says "sunbeams" ....
  16. I've done the exact same thing in a similar situation, except I turned off and started dancing and miming playing like Flea does... by the time I was playing with my teeth the sound guys had cottoned on the low end issues wasn't me!
  17. Just got the cables to power my stomp from a Cioks dc7 - oddly turned on connected to one port without the current doubler too!
  18. No, but if you were trying to write something you might study Shakespeare to learn how language is formed. If I was using visual art to communicate of course I could learn from church traditions going back to icons, pietas, the Dutch vanitas painting… but I would probably also look at things since 1800 from a non church based setting!! There’s a big gap in my knowledge if I don’t understand modernism, postmodernism and can’t understand the culture art exists in. I think the same is true with music. There’s two differences in how I would approach it. I don’t think dividing things into sacred and secular works - either personally, theologically or in art. There’s this big bit in the middle of life that is just life and is neither anti God or pro God. I have a spade in my shed, it’s neither sacred nor secular - I could use it to grow veg and give the veg to the hungry, or hit someone on the head with it and bury the body. The other thing is that culture is the language that society communicates through, both consciously and unconscionasly, and depending on your pov for both better and worse. If the book says “be in, but not of” I don’t know how to do that if I don’t understand the same cultural language.
  19. Which type of G&L? L1000 are like the the new covenant version of a p bass anyway
  20. Isn't that like a 1991 or 1990 limited edition? Many of them about?!
  21. That sounds intriguing!
  22. Esp when TC electronics get it so right on the Spectracomp so easily. I’ve spent a bit of time with them this week. Rochester, meh but ok, I can get the 3 band sounding good - but don’t feel I have any control of it at all, I can get the LA2A model sounding nice easily- possibly LA2A is just my cup of tea?

I’m planning on doing a big order soon Is there a U.K. equivalent for parts and/or kits at all?
