  1. Who's the builder, out of curiosity?
  2. Holy moly that Ritter is stunning. I don't think I'd ever play it, just mount it on the wall and look at it all day!
  3. The SBP-1 is one of my favourite preamps in it's simplicity. Boost only, turn up the bass and treble, start slapping
  4. I think that's spot on. The thing they aren't great at doing is the sparkly modern sound; they sound like a loud old tube amp and if that's your thing it's great. Re: knobs - yes, they're awful but fairly easy to replace
  5. Yes, the RH line came out in 2010, before the Behringer acquisition, and the BQ was 2019(?), well after. Whether or not that has anything to do with the perceived quality I don't know, but the 2010s are generally considered their "best" era. Everyone was using the RH series to some degree (Rocco Prestia, Mark King, Janek Gwizdala etc.), but then at some point they just stopped supporting the gear and a lot of the artists lost faith. In terms of voicing, the RH is definitely a more "vintage" sounding amp, not super pingy, but warm and full. It works really well in a band context.
  6. I use the RH750 as my regular (essentially the same but with more power) and it's really top notch. The RH series comes from a different era of TC, when they cared and made good quality bass gear; I wouldn't put it in the same league as the BQ series
  7. It's not necessarily laziness, but a sad reality of modern journalism. Some Journos are expected to churn out multiple articles a day if they want to make a meaningful wage, and it's just become a race to the bottom. That's why you see so many "advertorials"; Journos can just take "articles" prewritten by PR agencies that are just glorified adverts for Thomas Cook ("Scientists prove January is the most depressing time of the year [so you should book a holiday with TC]") or Virgin Money or whoever, and just send it to the publishers with their name on it.
  8. That's what I'm imagining: you've got an amp/cab setup that you like, now you can just capture it and send it to FOH/in ears
  9. Like, I get it, it just clearly isn't for me as an owner of it's big brother. I can see someone who just wants to utilise the huge capture library (and it is huge) as a preamp/overdrive/amp sim. But if I was in the market, I would get a Line 6 Helix Stomp no?
  10. That's a stunner, I wish I had the funds
  11. Brilliant pedal, will go quickly glwts
  12. It's back, and it looks so so much better now that it's been finished:
  13. I've been really enjoying the GOJIRA X plugin on the QC, you can get some really metal tones out of it:
  14. She really shines in the "Sound Like..." series
  15. Parallax is great if you like the multiband distortion sound (i.e. Djent), but it feels like the wrong tool for most other things. Not that you can't make it sound good, just it feels like you aren't using it for what it's supposed to be used for. The DG suite is essentially the VMT Ultra and the b7k Ultra with a cab SIM. Both sound really good, and I think it's a bit more versatile.
  16. Madness, crazy price, wish I needed one!
  17. Yeah, something about it makes it look "cheap" to me. Like an old Peavey Grind, or the Harley Benton HBZs https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbz2005.htm
  18. I assume you mean the Legendary87, which is based on a Urei 1176 (which is also what the Cali76 is based on), but it's attack times are about twice as fast as a Cali76, and as MrDinsdale mentioned, the Cali76 adds a fair bit of colour/saturation to the sound that the Legendary87 doesn't really replicate.
  19. The Cali76 capture sounds great, I just need to pair it with an external compressor to get the full sound
  20. That makes much more sense! 🤣
  21. Interesting, how have you got a decent Cali76 replication?
  22. I use the VT Bass for my general Ampeg sound. I think sometimes people conflate "has the Ampeg characteristics" with "sounds identical to this specific amp". The VTBass does a great job in giving me the general characteristics of the Ampeg sound (the way it drives, the way it responds etc.). If you put it side by side an SVTPro it won't sound the same, but neither does another identical SVTPro.
  23. It depends on the sample size. But you're right that their conclusion was wrong. It reminds me of the times this happened on TB; testing tonewoods someone recorded a vintage P, then the same neck bolted to a piece of pine with the pickup in the same place (some of those details may be wrong, it was a while ago). It ended up being about a 60/40 split in the votes, so the conclusion was drawn: 60% percent of TBers have the golden ears to be able to hear the difference. 🤦‍♂️
  24. I reckon paired with the Atlas you can get pretty close to the VulfPressor
