2. I've heard of them, but I don't think it's my cup of tea and i'm not the type to go to a gig just to watch good musicians. Still, I should get myself a gig there!
3. I like Stoke. It looks horrible but the people are friendly, an excellent combination. I've never been to The Garderner's but I work right by it.
4. I bet you didn't see a town full of riot vans, vommiting jail-bait and elderly ladies fighting.
5.
Wolves accent <> Brum accent.
Lol, yeh, that's what they say.
6.
I'm from Wolverhampton.
owwwwe ruyte thin, ar get ya (my attempt and typing my brummie impersonation)
7.
There's nothing wrong with being a Stokie. I just wouldn't want to be one.
For fear of being looked down upon by people who judge you from where you're from? Or just because you don't want to be an unemployed alchoholic thug like the rest of us?
8.
Did someone mention Tony Pulis' barmy army?? The MIGHTY potters.
I'm not a football fan. Is this an insult? What's so wrong with being a stokie ebs_freak?
9. People have been "hanging out" with each other for years now. Is the only new thing about it in this context that it applies to the ammount of intoxicants consumed? Or is there nothing new about it? Ta for the explaination!
10.
There's a difference between how the power plug is wired, i.e. centre positive or centre negative and whether or not the circuit has a positive or negatvie ground. If it's just the way the power socket is wired, you can reverse the polarity on one of the pedaks on a shared power supply no problem, but you can't mix +ve and -ve ground pedals on a shared power supply.
Thanks for explaining that
11. It sounds like you do need a serious solution like the tube of meths. Do none of you sweat-o-philes have problems with fungus? I hate lending my bass to a sweaty player. It comes back feeling horrible.
12. but really, what's shedding and hanging?
13. We did once make shirts with writing all over them with marker pen, and we were too scared to wash them, so I wore mine for around 6 gigs with no washes, but only for the 40 minutes we were on stage at each gig, and I still thought it was rank.
14. That sounds pretty rank AM!
15. riiiiiight. I don't understand why that is, I thought it was shorting when he plugged it in without an adaptor, and so to use one may fix the problem.
16. When you say you need to reverse the polarity, do you just mean flip the connections on the power socket? You can get adaptors for that.
17. I have 2 m-audio delta 1010s in my PC at the moment, and for drums I always use at least 10 mics. My problem at the moment is bad quality pre-amps, and I thought this might be a solution. Now I think not as i'd have to find another saffire at a bargain price as well as sell my existing gear. Ta for the info!
18. If I wanted to add more inputs and this was my interface, how would I go about that? (I am interested)
19. It looks like you have only the essentials. I'd sell the ibanez but would ask my family if they minded, and sell the yamaha to the person borrowing it!
20.
it's a shame their songwriting isn't strong enough for me to have listened to the three albums I have all that often. Alex
Yeh, a massive shame! Such a great sound and loads of energy. Perhaps the reformation will bring some great new songs!
21. Aren't they back together now? I think it's recent news.
22.
I have A/B'ed his Compact with a Mesa full stack (410 and 115!) and it really easily held its own IMO. Using the Mesa head for both. I preferred the tone of the Compact over the Mesa gear, volume wise there was nothing in it really.
That's quite astounding!
23. Cool, thanks for that, i'll give it a go and report back.
24.
True sir, but surely these shops would be aware that getting some money in the till than not (when currently advertising at a cheaper price) is paramount in the current economic climate?
Not if it's at a loss.
25. Ahhhh, I see, the hats are moving around! I hadn't noticed, maybe my speaker set-up is wrong. The L&R mics together sound great with loads of compression, that's the main sound. Then the rear overhead is used for high frequency transients to try and give some presence, and the close mics on the snare and kick just help them cut through when the rest of the mix is brought in...... Just trying to explain the logic behind my method, although obviously it's not working! As every channel on the drums is central, that would mean the only stereo imaging is coming from the room mics, so I don't understand how the hats would move, unless I was moving a mic or my hats. Is it to do with phasing? Could be that when the snare is hit as the same time as the hat, the close mic on the snare picks up less hat and so they move more towards the right hand room mic?
