1. IMO you need distortion or compression to make a synthy/filter pedal work well
2. well if you use a mixer to mix two chains back together I think that would be buffered? Maybe not. I used to use one of those mini line mixers for this purpose - 3 jack sockets, 3 knobs, and one jack lead coming out of it. I think I got it for £10 from Ebay EDIT: That was a totally passive line mixer so wouldn't have had a buffer
3. I have a pair of the bullets and know another guy who has them after I recommended them. I've mixed some of his sessions as well as using my own. Mainly as drum overheads but also on acoustic guitars and some percussion. Honestly, they're ace.
4.
Danelectro French Toast? Cheap price belies the sound you can get from these things.
Good call!! Another favorite of mine is the Red Llama - I only have a clone but I hope it's similar to the proper one else my recommendation is useless
5. recording at SSR in Manchester
6. ... in case anyone is interested in hearing the guitar one on bass I have a weird thing on my soundcloud here: https://soundcloud.com/cheddatom/xxl-bass
7. in addition to playing about with the order of effects in series, I really like blending different effects chains in parallel, although you need extra kit to do that, just thought it was worth a mention
8. damn, thought so, I have the guitar one and it is good but would really love a go of the purple one
9. what's your budget for the interface? And mics?
10. yeh but I wanted it for my laptop, I have a few M-Audio delta cards in my PC
11. what a great read, excellent! I was talking to him about his pedals outside a gig in Manchester but was too drunk... He said to me he was using the Bass XXL (the purple one) but I can't see it in your pics and you call it "Tech 21 XXL" - can you confirm which one he's using?
12. I would consider trades for studio gear or effects pedals...
13. cool, let us know how you get on stevie
14. how are you going to split the signal before it gets to the pedals? I'd just go with an LS-2
15. I know quite a few people do it, but my thinking was that boosting the full range ouldn't give you an alternative to a channel switch, which is what it sounds like OP is after. It would give you a big low end boost, on top of distortion, as opposed to just dirtying up the signal while maintaining a constant level. Having said all that, I've just checked out the Streamliner 900 and it looks like the control you're talking about is just a gain control, so I'm wrong, you do just want a boost. Alternatively it's just a push switch so it'd be fairly easy to wire that up to a jack on the back you're not using, and plug a footswitch in to that.
16.
What is amazing, considering how many you have, is that if I look down at my pedalboard, I have none of yours and you have none of mine !
heh, same here except for the OC2s, and I have even more pedals!!
17. no, sorry. I have windows 8 on a laptop but no firewire on it so can't test it for you sorry. If you're near Stoke we could always meet up for a test?
18. Hi Roger, sorry for the late response, it will give low latency, not sure about windows 8, this is the only info I can find: http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/en/article.php?id=1202
19. I reckon you might be better with a treble boost, or an EQ to boost just specific frequencies. A normal clean boost might give you too much low
20. The AW-3 is a really cool pedal. I lost mine
21. I've been playing just 6 strings for years. I've had a couple of people who clearly think I use them just to show off, but who cares? I know why I use them, and how to use them, that's all that matters.
