Oh dear. I'm going to have to look into those tremolo bridges now, and I bet they don't come cheap!
In terms of an overdue update, I've fine sanded it all down, and I've got my hands on a Fender bridge/tuning machine set which will do for the moment... I figure I'm going to buy some CTS pots and wire just the SP2 up, fix it all together and see how it sounds. I've recently acquired an EBS Valve Drive which gives some nice vintage tube-ness and I kind of fancy a vintage P now, going through my 15 - sorry that's a bit dull!
Hopefully I'll find the sound too limited and go for the tremolo and MM p'up! My Warwick $$ Corvette has a good tonal palette though so I might just skip the years of trying different basses and settle for a Precision with a tube like everyone else seems too!
I do really like that tremolo though.

Then there's the colour. I really like the CAR suggestion, but I saw a butterscotch P the other day with a black p'guard...
