1. Cheers for all the suggestions guys! I had a look into all of them, and then it turned out my friend was selling his Yamaha BB415, so he's got that for a tidy £200, leaving him with £100 to spend on a nice cable and strap It's all black, nice and classy looking, so it should fit in with most styles he wants to play. Pretty much perfect condition. Very nicely set-up. The main thing is the neck's really great to play and the action's nice and low with no buzzing, so he should be able get around the board easily enough with his smaller hands. Also the P/J combo covers a good deal of tonal ground and sounds pretty good. The construction's solid, being Yamaha, so it should last him too. Strung with DR Fatbeams too, which is a nice bonus! Mission success?
2. How on Earth is this still here!? I've got a standard German $$ 5 and it's great - this CS model looks absolutely amazing! If I had the spare cash I'd buy this off you. Immediately. Someone buy this please, before I start looking into organ donations.
3. Thanks guys! Yamaha/Ibanez are a good call, hadn't really thought of those! That Dean looks pretty sweet, I'll email him the link and see what he reckons
4. So my 11 year-old nephew's been teaching himself bass for just over a year now, and he's getting pretty good at it! He's after a new bass to replace his very beat-up RBX170, and has asked me if I could look out for something cool around the £300 mark. He's been looking at Squier CV Jazzes, which I know are pretty good. I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas as I'm not very knowledgeable in this kind of market but I know there are some pretty awesome basses to be had for this kind of money, if you can find them? Second-hand is also a good option. All in all I figure he needs a bass which is very playable (small hands at the moment!) and will give a reasonable range of tones so he can explore different styles as he learns. All opinions are very much appreciated! Cheers! Ben
5. Saw this cab at Isaac's place the other day - looks pretty beefy! Isaac's a fantastic bloke who takes very good care of his gear, deal with confidence folks!
6. Yep! My bro met up with Hayden yesterday and had a chat about building a bass amp for me. Looking at trialling a new hybrid prototype with their valve pre-amp and this new digital poweramp they've recently come across that they're very impressed with! I'll be meeting up with him in a couple o' months when I've got enough money! But yeah, sounds good to me!
7. From the description and that photo - I bet it's a bass guitar?
8. I didn't know Matamp did bass amps until recently! My brother's got a custom Matamp guitar combo and it's the best thing I've ever heard (guitar-wise). I think I'm going to have to order one! Here's Hayden servicing my bro's amp - if guitar amps count?
9. Bought/A friend bought an Epiphone Dot from AJ, really helpful, quick replies, top bloke to deal with folks!
10. My old MIM Active Deluxe was fantastic. Pretty inexpensive too! I bought it new as my first 'real' bass, put a Badass II on it and it sounded ace. Check it out: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/fender...ctive-jazz-bass
11. I don't think the Fender cabs and heads look tooooo bad? Those Rumbles are definitely ugly things though. I wish Fender would just make something new - like the Fender TC-90 or Starcaster guitars... but for bass!
12. +1 to the D'addarios, I don't know of any other brand that does them. I've got a 5-string Pro Steel set and it's brass for E, red for A, black for D and green for G - don't know if that applies to the Pro Steel set alone or the whole D'addario range though! Best of luck
13. Kevin mailed me over some pick-ups from his Gretsch which he'd replaced - for FREE! Excellent packaging, pick-ups were immaculate, my brother will appreciate them very much! Thanks again
14. I'm sorry to say I've got good reason to believe this is a scam folks. Just found this on Google Images. As you can see it's identical.

Nothing specific as long as its a USA Model.
My friend's selling his Stingray 5 on here as he's just picked a Jazz, but it might be worth a look as he's very much into the Fender sound at the moment! The thread is here
