1. Eden products are regarded as being very high quality. As far as sound goes, see if you can get hold of something, and play it. If you like it then its good If not, then don't bother. Ive played high end stuff that to me was totally useless... And budget stuff that for me was some of the best around!
2. it should say T W A T on the top horn instead surely
3.
That has actually made my day. How someone can be that clueless and work in a music shop is beyond me. You would think that at least a basic knowledge of how guitars and basses work would be necessary. Liam
Seems to be the trend at this particular store. A different guy in that same store refused to order me in a Yamaha TRB1006 because "they're sh*t mate, get an Ibanez or don't even bother"
4. I remember trying out a 'new' Ibanez BTB in a shop once with a horrible setup and really crackly pots. When I mentioned these to the assistant, he very helpfully advised me that 'basses are supposed to have high action', because 'otherwise you just get fretbuzz'. And that 'active basses always have noisy knobs, because of the electricity in them'
5. These are amazing amps. Used one with another 2x10 underneath without PA support on a metal gig and I had PLENTY of power to spare
6. Sorry bud, the forum rules state you've gotta put an asking price. Great cabs though these, I don't think you'll have much trouble shifting it. Good luck!
7. They seem quite expensive but look fairly solidly made too. Might be worth a go... Kahler make bass trems too but I don't have a clue on their prices...
8.
but is invisible in the mix on the records.... Justice has no bass....
Yep on that album he was criminally low in the mix! Heard a few versions ripped from guitar hero where theyd turned him up and the whole thing sounded mind-blowing. Have a look for em on YouTube!
9.
By suddenly becoming incontinent
Depends on how many post-show beers I have.
pretending to be deaf?
Pretending?
10. I used to think faster/flashier = better. My favourite Metallica bassist is probably Jason Newsted now because he supports the song, has a great tone, and great stage presence. When I was a teenager I didn't rate him quite as highly!
11. When I saw the title of this thread I knew straight away what it was about I have a backpack with a little padded section to fit a laptop in. My F1 fits perfectly plus I have room for all my leads, spares, tools, and even a packed lunch if I feel like 'going grandad'. Think it cost me about £12!
12. While I was waiting for my first 6 string, I tuned down to B and played higher up the neck. You might want to set it up properly though. My sig reveals that I learnt that one the hard way!
13.
Parents and/or Girlfriend don't count
Neither of those attend any more either. Were either super elite, or super crap
14. A couple of people have come to gigs just to see me play before. Proof that as far as taste is concerned anything is possible
15. I hate playing bass. That's why I have a 6 string
16. Markbass The little Mark heads go for very reasonable prices on here too!
17. Email the guys at Newtone Strings, and tell them what you want to do. they really know their stuff and can give you your options and make you a custom set if need be. I went for custom heavy gauge for my bottom A.. But they will also do lighter gauges with higher tension suitable for downtuning too (god knows how they do it but they can!) Great strings too at great value. Ive had mine on since December and I'm not about to change them any time soon!
18. I'm currently on medication that causes me mild back pain at times. That alone is enough to ensure I'll never take my body for granted. So here's one young(ish) whippersnapper who's Sticking with lightweight gear for life yo!
19. How could I forget Barefaced? Get yourself one of those babies and you'll never look back! lightweight gear definately does not mean lightweight sound!
20. You wanna try a markbass 4x10. if anything they move too much air!
21. Man I really wish I had the money right now. This would complete my rig nicely! Hope you manage to shift it soon mate
22. Or turn up with just a Sansamp on a high gain setting, and don't let him tweak it
23.
Warwick Corvette? I remember one bloke on Talkbass telling a story about how he went to a pawn shop and was looking at a Corvette which was priced up really cheap, so he sat down to play it. When he was playing it, he realised the bass reeked of sh*t and was deeply unpleasant to be around. He pressed the store about it and it turned out the bloke who had owned it had parted with it on bad terms. Whether or not bailiffs took it or he had to begrudingly trade it in, he didn't want to let go of it so he 'soiled' the bass by sticking the top horn up his arse! With the wood being 'open pore' the vile arse miasma soaked into the wood and the shop had tried everything to get rid of the smell without success! As you can imagine, that thread was quite funny.
LMAO that's purely amazing
24. I agree with what most people are saying. I don't mind lending my rig out to other bassists. The one time I felt like my amp was being abused I just walked onstage and turned the gain down lol If you're worried about your amp getting fried Just say you're only willing to lend out your cabs and they will have to supply their own head. After all markbass cabs are pretty much indestructible from what I've seen
25. I'll trade a caps lock key for it
