..... I'm considering joining http://www.youtube.c...d&v=0o2ufv_c0xI
Once it gets going it has a certain Brittenesque/Bartokesque bitonal charm!
You'll be spoiled, pampered and hand-fed grapes by two beauties, in the sunshine, by the river. Can't beat that
Now I'm really miffed that I missed it (studio session overran, still didn't finish tracks, etc...) Looking forward to the pics, and, of course, a future meetup!

If this was a three I'd be all over it...

Hi, Welcome! Ah yes, those little 6-string things. A guy I'm in a band with keeps bringing one to rehearsals and making funny noises with it. Very odd.

Pah, my Saturday schedule is getting overcrowded with must-dos and it's looking like I'll be blowing you all out with only a faint possibility of making a late appearance. Next time...

Do you consider yourself an "expert" bass player?
Well I've played for six years now. After the first four I thought I was getting pretty good. Then I discovered jazz...
-

Going back to the OP... if it's Bandmix, StarNow or similar, then they've just been asked to put themselves in a bracket form a limited set of choices. A nicer category might be "accomplished", meaning if you hire me for the job then I expect I'll be able to do what you want. But given the choice between "intermediate" and "expert", then IMO it's reasonable for an accomplished player to describe themselves as expert. -
that'll be the laura palmer signature model
My thoughts exactly!

If I make this it will be very late afternoon (if it's still going then) so be sure to post live updates!

All sounds familiar. Mine's a 77/78, maple board, skunk stripe, also in now-vintage "white", weighs a ton, doesn't look too pretty, and sounds @#%$ing amazing!

Forty-three minutes between those last two comments? Come on BC-ers, you're slipping!
Incidentally I remember a tale of Paul Mcartney keeping a melody in his mind before he had proper lyrics worked out by way of some ridiculous song about scrambled eggs or something. Would have been a hit regardless.
Yep, he claims that the first version of Yesterday went "Scrambled eggs, oh my baby how I love your legs".

I'd forgotten about this but now I'll try it. It was advocated by my piano teacher: apparently there's a standard set of words for the themes of all the Bach Fugues, passed down through generations of teachers!
I just used these guys for a record I'm working on: http://stardeltamast...-stardelta-way/ http://stardeltamast...lmp3-mastering/ They did an amazing job...
Can we hear the results? I found the advice on their website assuring but also overwhelming (talk of lots of different formats and codes I never knew of.... plus "vocal up" and "vocal down" mixes: did you provide those?). And how would one choose between them and someone like http://nevomastering.com/? I'm confused, anxious, and shortly to be in need of mastering!

Ooh, I forgot to report back. Filled the hole with superglue, then read the don't-fill-the-hole-with-superglue reply while it was drying :-O So the next day I drilled a little channel through the glue before re-assembling, and all is fine. ...except for what seems to be the design flaw whereby that screw and its neighbours are under stress every time I pull the jack out :-(
It helped that they were always great players!
And perhaps reading helped them to become great players...!
thank you everyone for the replies! I have contacted everyone that was mentioned (and with the exception of one reply) they are all useful and we will be getting a free sample of a song on our album over the next few weeks. I may post up all the samples to see what peoples ear's think of them. maybe a blind test for you Thank you for the positive posts about the band too, much appreciated!!
I'll be very interested to hear them! A couple of questions of my own: Attended vs. unattended... my presumption is that an attended session is to be preferred... do you agree? The stuff I've got in the pipeline includes fade-outs, and I'm imagining I need to be on-the-spot to say "mm, a bit earlier/later" etc. And, how long would a typical session take? (I have two songs totalling about nine minutes.)
