I just had a look at the specs. No ratio control? That would seem to limit the squish available as an actual effect. I can't see the ratio setting mentioned anywhere on the website. Presumably it's a secret then...

Are the Res-O-Lite available with 1/2 inch post? I can't seem to find them on the Gotoh website.

As it says really! Something that is: 1: As cheap as is practical, and 2: Worth having, and 3: Will tolerate pubs and back of estate cars. I know nothing about DBs and I can't imagine that a bow will be needed, but after chatting with some mates about the possibility of all all acoustic bluegrass band I am now researching. I have played upright a bit - I had an early NS Wav bass - but I will have to put the practice in to get somewhere near competent again. ta

I started playing both in the same week when I was a teenager. I was playing in a metal band on guitar and a school jazz band on bass. The one I'm playing most at any particular time is the one I'm better on at that time.

Round core strings are particularly vulnerable to unseen annoyances. I do like them though.

Definitely the first one. Although I could see the final verse / chorus veering towards the third one a bit as a sort of crescendo.

They are lovely and light but the posts are small - bit annoying for your average Fender sized headstock hole. Either need about 2 metres of plumbers tape to widen the bushing or fill the holes completely and then redrill. Ain’t got no time for that! 🤣

Old strings or sometimes new ones that are twisted. I know you’ve said the pickups are ok but lower them further anyway just to see if it goes away to properly rule that out.

@Andyjr1515 made me a lovely ebony ramp for my Sandberg. I I need to take another bass to him for another ramp, but life seems to be getting in the way at the moment. I must get round to it though, I find it a lot easier to play with them.

They're both very good - I get the USA ones as I like to be able to reverse them if needed, and because of the small additional weight saving. But I wouldn't bother getting the USA if a bass already had the Korean ones on it. I do wish the string posts were slightly tapered to force the string to the bottom, but I can't have everything. BTW - the Y key ones are a little lighter than the clovers, with the lollipop in the middle. I believe the Y keys are the lightest tuner ever, but for clovers the Sandberg lightweight tuner is a little lighter. The Sandbergs are a real pain to get in the UK though as their online shop currently won't ship out of the EU.
