1.
I am thinking of getting a precision bass and a jake is one of the options. It is a safe bet to go with Maruszczyk since I own one and already know the quality. Just simple passive with one p pickup. So, my questions to those who have experince with Jakes are that: 1- How do you describe the sound of maruszczyk's own p pickups? 2- Did you have any chance to compare them with other p pickups used by Adrian such as delano, haeussel, aguilar (my frog has bassculture humbuckers and they are great but I don't know if they have p pickup) etc. or any other p pickup you had experince with such as bartolinis, lindy fralins, fender vintage ones etc.? 3- How do you compare the playability and the sound of jakes to other p basses such as fender, lakland, sandberg etc.? I know I can ask these questions to Adrian and I am sure I will get an honest opinion but I would like to know what are the opinions of those who have experince with jakes. Cheers, GC
His own Pickup is made with Ferrite magnets and a lot of winding. Hence the more kind of aggressive sounding bass. Just for the story he made his 1st pickup in Poland when he was about 15 or 16. His J Pickups is Ferrite too. All the other brands you mentioned are (to my knowledge) Alnico ... which will be much smoother. in my opinion playability is just as good if not nicer than some of the "big boys"... but that's just personnal.
 2.
I'm going to be in Poland next week... and no, I promise I will not go to the workshop to stalk them while they -hopefully- start on my order. I'll be too busy drinking beer anyway. They have a surplus of strange politicians and beer. The former... I have no idea how to help. But I'm a master at making beer disappear.
` so was i , then i got old
 3. so ! asked the boss : there's 13 people working in poland :-D they're hoping to start the new workshop in march 2017
 4.
Going to wait till the money for this bass comes through and then will discuss with Adrian specs... I'm wanting something sparkly...
i have something sparkly ;-)
 5.
Thanks for the comments, the SQ Series are really nice. Not a Silver Series, the SQ were thre next series after the JV's Made in Japan.
indeed, 1984 / 86 to my memory.... identical to JV .... in my opinion ...
 6. they're beautiful , and indeed just as good as JV.
 7.
Any idea what the current waiting time is?
roughly 12 to 15 weeks BUUUUUT that's worse case scenario ... you could possibly get it in 7 ...
 8.
That's right Pierre, I'm your W&T stalker. Still loving the Ergon 5 too.
you stalker :-D i have none left lol , sorry
 9. built for me, many moons ago ...
 10. sure , just hit me up if you need any info on my experience with em
 11. don't worry about your B. They're really integrated to the rest of the bass.
 12.
I just emailed Adrian
good move ! :-D
 13.
I'm in!!!! Elwood L ordered. Blueburst flamed maple top, Maple neck / board, 1 bassculture mm style humbucker, 1 bassculture single coil, delano 3 band eq with parallel/single/series switch for humbucker. I emailed my enquiry last night at 8pm and by 9.30 this morning we had agreed everything, I'd selected the piece of maple for the top and I'd paid my deposit. Possibly the easiest custom (ish) order ever and really swift comms. 12-15 weeks is going to seem like a lifetime lol.
waiting time can vary...... 12/15 is worse case scenario. I've had one done in 7 or 8.
 14.
^^^ Agreed - top chap. The mind boggles as to how busy he must be at any given time.
answer is he never really stops .... when its not X its Y .... i regularly get shipments from him, and shipping label is always created at dumb time like 1 am or 5.30 ... 11PM ... or whatever....
 15.
Just placed an order with Adrian for my first Maruszczyk, what an absolute gent to deal with. 32 scale active Jake with Delano P and MM pickups heading my way in a few months....
indeed , one of the nicest guy i've met in this biz....
 16.
OK, so I've had a flash of inspiration for a M custom that would be just perfect for me - don't know why I've only just thought of it. My absolute favourite bass is my Fender Rascal, but it's regrettably up for sale being just too heavy for long sets with my dodgy neck/shoulder. What I love about the Rascal is the unique pup/control configuration using 3 'lipstick' pups, a Strat-style 5-position slide selector switch, and a stacked tone pot. With the stack knob down your switching options are: 1) neck pup; 2) neck + mid; 3) mid; 4) mid + bridge; 5) bridge. Pull on the knob (!?) and the first 2 switch positions change to neck + bridge, and all 3 pups. I think this set-up is brilliant as it's quick and intuitive and gives you instant access to a whole range of different sounds without having to fiddle with tone and vol pot's. OK, so the idea is to ask Adrian to quote me for a s-s build based on the Elwood C with the same or equivalent pups/controls as the Rascal and lightweight construction around 3.5kg. Communicating with Adrian in English can be a bit tricky so I want to gather a bit more info first. Can anybody give me the correct generic description of the pups, switches etc Fender use on the Rascal and are the Fender or equivalent items readily available off the shelf? Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing these things are not just picked from the Strat parts bin. Final question for pierreganseman: do you think Adrian would take this on?
waaaaw :-) ! I would make VERY clear what you want , as you've mentioned while he manages to get his point accross , his english is still kinda "broken" here and there. So make very crystal clear .... that's the main thing i would say. As for the rest , i suppose so yes ! lol , i've seen some of his basses with 3 pickups out there , so why not.... but in the end , i don't know... the only thing he told me he wouldn't do is custom shape... ever ... all the rest he answered "no problem"
 17.
Thanks for the info.
my personal none chambered Alder Body P bass is 4,1 kilo
 18.
Very nice pair of Jakes you've got there. How much weight does the chambering save?
Chambered J or P style from Adrian are usually around 3,5 kilo ... anywhere between 3,3 to 3,7 ... whatever that is in your things lol. cheers
 19. they are absolute top notch. Like just about any high end Japanese brand. Danny from Bass Japan direct has them i think.
 20. Stunning JB , Martin is top class.
 21.
Well, not the vat, they get the vat back from that paid to Maruszczyk, and then add it again, so they get 19% back and then pay 20% - not much in it. But if you look at the redburst one and look at my redburst one, same pickups, mine is a direct payment and is more expensive than that (not too much, and it would have been cheaper if I had paid for all of it a few months ago), so it doesn't seem that excessive, plus you get to take it back if you don't like it!
there's no VAT between them. Like there's No vat between me and Adrian. No Vat between VAT registered companies in EU
 22. hi guys, Adrian is in Japan until Sunday for tokyo music fair / show thingy (Japanese NAMM basically), so don't stress out if your emails are not answered to lol. cheers
 23.
he can certainly do full gloss neck: both of mine are that way, by request. It didn't add much (anything?) to the cost.
as far as i know the difference is indeed very small. Couldn't tell you precise number though.
 24.
Personally I really don't like that glossy nitro finish on older basses. I fing they don't rest well to sweaty hands. I much rather Matt finishes. Each to their own I guess.
Adrian told me most people actually ask that. He can naturally do a full gloss neck too if requested but most orders are done with gloss body and matte neck !
 25. if any of you wonder about the sparkle finishes.... that's how it looks with the LED panel. cheers
