  1. We do a Sweet version of "Let It Snow" in the first set and then Mud, Slade and Wizard in 2nd set with Wizard being last song of the set altho our encore is a lengthened version of Shang a Lang including excerpts from various Scottish themed songs. Bit of a Medoly and it always goes down a treat up here. Dave
  2. Don't know what's going on with the Xmas songs this year. Last year the Slade and Wizard ones literally filled the floor. Dave
  3. Christmas gig with BLOCKBUSTARZ Glam at Longstone Hearts club in Edinburgh. Its a small intimate club and only holds up to 80 with only a few unsold tickets for the night. We know they're struggling to get money in for the club and we've deliberately kept our price same since we first played there about 3 yrs ago to try and help keep them going. Was a bit of an odd one as we had dancers from the first song but our Xmas songs had none ? Never seen that before even tho we played well. Only Xmas song they were up for was the Wizard one "I Wish It Could Be Xmas" and even then it was only 7 or 8 people. Last song (encore) dance floor was crammed full and they were all shouting for more but we had a time limit from the organiser. Plenty of pics / vids being taken tho so that's always good. As a band we thoroughly enjoyed the gig and were having a great laugh on stage. No major mistakes with just a few wee mishaps that only we noticed. 4 Xmas songs in the set for the next few gigs. Usual gear Sandberg MarloweDK because its Xmasy looking in red and white - Shure GXLD wireless - Keeley Bassist comp - Handbox WB-100 - Barefaced 212 cab. Quite enjoying the Marlowe at the last couple of gigs. It has a nice growl thru the WB-100. Easy drive home with hardly another car on the country roads on way home which was a nice relaxing drive and home by 2am for my ritual coffee and tea biccie before beddy by bo time. Dave
  4. You clout someone with headstock at that gig and you might get barred. 😂 Dave 🎅
  5. Now that Status Update i get and very nice indeed. Dave
  6. I only get involved in stage management side of it but not what the SE does FOH. I do listen to what he has FOH during my line check and that it matches my on stage tone. SE's have often told me that the bass channel is almost flat EQ and that the tone from my Mesa amps is good enough on its own. Dave
  7. I'm kinda with you. I never really saw the point of it and usually just ignored it hoping it would go away but thought i should ask the question just in case i need it. 😂 Dave
  8. That's why you are a BC legend. 😂 Dave
  9. Yep clicking the date works for me. Cheers for that guys. Every day a school day on BC. 😂 Dave
  10. I've really no idea what its for but i see the occasional comment that i'd like to read the full thing but can't. Dave
  11. That's kind of where i'm at. The number of times i've had to move tables and chairs just to access the stage area. Dave
  12. How do i open the comments up to read the full comment on the Status Updates Section of BC. ? Dave
  13. I just don't have time to set up the bass amp at gigs. I have to sort out everything from helping drummer unload and get started on his kit to sorting out the PA speakers and most of the cabling for mains sockets, PA and lights. After i've done all that i try and get time to tune the bass and make sure the amp is all ok. At that point everyone else is set up and they just want to sound check and i've had a few words on occasion that i also need time to set up my own gear but i have to remind them all every now and again. Historically guitar and bass didn't go thru the PA so it had to be a decent sound. These days most of our gigs we use a PA Hire and i thought that would give me more time but i'm finding that i'm now stage arranger sorting out where PA companies kit goes on stage. Anyways i do enjoy it all but it means i struggle to get time for my own gear so my amp is left exact same settings every gig except for the master volume. I do tweak it if i decide to use a different bass. I just wouldn't get time to try out a provided backline to my satisfaction. However as time goes on i can see me falling into same thoughts as you guys. 🤩 Dave
  14. I'm quite fussy about what i hear on stage Daryl. If i know what the rig is and its decent quality i might use it but normally the provided backline is old Peavey cheap stuff that just doesn't cut it for me. Same in most studios i use altho i tend to just put up with it in studios. Dave
  15. I did notice that overhang 😂 Dave 🤩
  16. Played thru a Hartke rig once and loved the tone. I think it was an LH5000. Hopefully you'll get a decent sound from that rig. I've had much worse supplied backline to the point i no longer use it and always bring my own gear. Dave
  17. 100% agree. I think we've had that discussion on BC before. For me its a hobby and if i don't enjoy it then there's no point, but i appreciate if its an income you rely on then its a whole different story and you need to work at it no matter what comes your way just like any other job. Dave
  18. Not encountered this kind of thing in many years but for me i find A a bit sneaky. Don't believe i could work with him in any band. Do you and the band all get along ok ? I'd reconsider whether or not A is required in the band. Can B step up and take on some or all of the lead work and if so then adapt the guitar parts to suit one guitarist. Failing that option look for a replacement for A. Dave
  19. Didn't get a helpful reply. They told me to contact a UK supplier but i bought a set of various size metric ones and its an M3 diameter and only about 4mm long if that helps. Failing that and you still haven't managed to get one send me your details and i'll pop one in the post to you as i now have a few spares. Dave
  20. I know a couple of bands that have 2 bassists. They just share the gigs evenly. It seems to work until 2 wks ago i was asked to dep for them cause each of them thought the other was doing the gig and both had confirmed gigs with other bands. 😂 Could the band go down that route. Perhaps the other bassist would be ok with that considering circumstances. Dave
  21. It was and because we're both on special diets from our gym it lasted 2 nights and that's us sharing. 😂 Dave
  22. Not great news but positivity always helps. Focus on a positive outcome rather than a gloomy one and hopefully it will help you get thru this AND YOU WILL GET THRU IT Greg. Us lot are always here for a blether or a chat to get your mind of things. There's always one of us online at any one time so keep us posted and if you need it start a chat page. Always here for you sir. Dave
  23. We're in the same spot. Having to look out new venues for 2026. Clubs especially are finding it difficult selling tickets and turning a profit. What we don't want is playing the same venues too often as people get fed up seeing the same bands too often. We're also considering venues South of the border which are relatively easy reach for me. I'm 1 hr from Carlisle on M74. Newcastle also an option we're looking at. We had a few venues contact us last year from as far down as Brighton but the distances just weren't justified for one gig unless we charged silly money to include accomodation. Dave
  24. That's unusual for you guys @martthebass. Sometimes it happens and like you said, just move on to the next one and enjoy the festive gigs cause Glam is always a fun Xmas party night. Dave
  25. This afternoons gig with BLOCKBUSTARZ Glam covers band was a charity event in Boness that was sold out. We've played this venue many times for charity events, retirements, birthdays and are back again Feb 2026 for a 60th. The guy was at the gig today. Start time was 2pm and we literally had dancers on the floor for the first song and that lasted all the way thru the afternoon. Couldn't have asked for a better audience. When you get a lot of women out for a Saturday afternoon Xmas party they just wanna have fun and they did. The few males that were present also up dancing with everyone on the floor for the last few songs. The new Xmas songs went down a treat and we played well. Had a few hiccups with the PA where it cut out on occasion. Looked like he was running the powered cabs too hard. He decided to leave the subs in the van and just go with his JBL full range cabs. In future we'll always use the subs with them. He notched down the bass and kick drum volumes and i boosted my amp volume to compensate. Still sounded great tho but that solved the issue for the 2nd set. Decided to use my Sandberg MarloweDK for this one as the event was billed as a Xmas event so we went with the tinsel and a more Xmas look. Marlowe sounded excellent thru the Handbox WB-100 and BF212 cab. First time i've used this combination in the Glam band and i was very pleased. Sound guy also commented that it sounded superb out front. Some older ladies wanted to book us for 2027 for a triple birthday party but its a bit too far away to be taking bookings so we asked that they get in touch middle 2026. All in all a good day and home for 7:30pm via the Indian takeaway. Few pics of the stage etc appeared so that's all i have for time being. Dave
